MIM #171 and VV #5

Whew! I finally got my card done.  I hate it when I have to spend hours on a card to get it to come out right, especially now when I have so little time to work on them.  I wanted to do the partial die cut technique that is the challenge this week at Make it Monday.  The video by Betsy Veldman makes it look easy, and I guess it would be if you had the proper die.  I do have the Beautiful Butterfly that Betsy used but I didn't want to do a direct copy.  If you learn anything about me it's that I usually have do things a little differently.  That didn't leave me a lot of room dies to work with.  I'll show you the card and then explain the difficulties.  That way you can skip over that part.

I used the leaves from Meadow Greens and the fact they aren't symmetrical made the technique more difficult.  I tried to put the five leaf branch on twice and every time the second one cut all the way through.  I finally decided to use the three leaf with it and although it did cut through the top, the bottom is still attached. Only two cuts made the card look a little bare so I added one of the leaves that cut through to the top.  All the leaves are stamped with Distress Ink and spritzed.   I mounted the panel on some gray cardstock and stamped the sentiment from PTI's Words of Comfort with Peeled Paint DI.  I'm not sure all the effort was work it but I conquered the technique, sort of. ;)

I'm also going to enter this in the Virginia's View challenge.

Thanks for stopping by and listening to my crafting tale of woe. I hope your day goes well.

I think you have used your die cut stash fabulously!! (there can never be enough dies, right? I am with you on that!). Thanks so much for playing Virginia's View Challenge!
