CAS Watercolor July

I always have the best of intentions with the monthly challenges and somehow time gets away from me and I only end up making one card when I could be doing more.  I did get one done for the CAS Watercolor Challenge.

I stamped the butterfly from Gina K that was in a CP Stamp of Approval kit and picked five blue Distress Inks to color them.  The sentiment is from PB.

Getting ready to head off to the lake again.  Next year I'm getting Wifi up there. ;)

Less is More and AAA Cards Collaboration

Less is More and AAA Cards have combined for a two week challenge featuring cards on colored cardstock.  I made it easy on myself by using a card I stamped a Michele's a long time ago using MFT's All Over Roses.
They were stamped in black on Neenah Desert Storm and I used my Worn Lipstick DOXs to paint just three of the roses.  The sentiment is also from MFT.  This may not be CAS enough for either challenge but now I have another anniversary card in my stash.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love it when you do.

CAS(E) This Sketch #230

I couldn't pass up a chance to play at CAS(E) This Sketch so here's my last minute card.
Lots of gold embossing on an image by PTI, sentiment by HA and chicken wire by MFT.  Zigs colored in the sunflower and it's all on Ripe Avocado cardstock.
Busy times mean quick posts.  I'll be back tomorrow with another one.

Thanks for dropping by.

Addicted to Stamps and More #251

Our most popular challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More is the Anything Goes challenge.  I wonder why? ;)  Maybe because there are no parameters?  So there's no excuse not to enter.

For my card I used one of my NBUS Stamp of Approval sets.
I know someone who's going to love the colors used 😉- Fog, Smoke and Charcoal with a touch of black for the MSE sentiment.  I realized too late that I had Soft Granite or I would have used it too.

Check out what the rest of the Design Team has done to inspire you and then enter your card in the gallery.  We'd love to see you there.

Just Us Girls #402

It's Color Week at Just Us Girls and the colors Nancy chose are:
I had a stamped panel in my UFO box and it worked perfectly for the colors.
The flowers are from Altenew watercolored with Distress Inks and the sentiment is from PTI.

We hope you will join in the challenge and make a card using pink, dark pink and blue, with neutrals like black, gray and brown if necessary.  If you do, you may be chosen Chic of the Week and be in the running for a guest designer spot.

The Design Team and guest designer Aileen have some wonderful cards for you to see so please go check them out.

CAS Mix-Up July

July is almost half over and I just got a card made for the July CAS Mix-Up challenge.  I had so much fun with the tissue paper techniques that Loll showed in her video but I should have worn gloves.  I had as much ink on my fingers as on the tissue.  I planned a panel that I hoped would look good as a die cut flower and I'm happy with the result.
The dies are from Altenew and the sentiment from EBE.  I finally got a chance to use one of the embossed panels that Bonnie so generously sent me after I gushed over it several times.

In a conversation with Loll, she mentioned using a paper towel that had mopped up leftover ink from her craft sheet to make a background by laying it down on hot press watercolor paper and spraying it.  I quickly pulled my paper towel out of the wastebasket and loved the pattern that was on it. I tried the technique with mixed media paper and it didn't come out very bright so I came up with another technique. Introducing "the paper towel background".
I thought this looked like a flower garden so using a sponge I spread school glue all over my cardstock and glued the paper towel to it.  When it was dry I popped up the frame and added the hollyhocks from PTI and sentiment from EBE.  From now on I may be saving all my mop towels.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope you take time to try a new technique.

CASology #257

There are so many ways to use the cue word "Wish" for the CASology challenge but the easiest for me was to use it as part of my sentiment.  I found out I have at least three "Make a Wish" sentiments but I chose this one from SSS.
I heat embossed it in white and then taped off either side to do some DOX inking on a one layer card. The paper tape didn't stick well and the ink went outside the lines. To save it I cut it into a small panel and mounted it on a black scrap.  Since it was no longer one layer I added a candle from PTI for fun. Great birthday card for any age.

Thanks for dropping by.

Time Out #87

Cornelia always has such great cards and this one of hers is the card we're to CASE at Time Out. Isn't it fun and colorful?
Of course my Crazy Birds stamps from TH came to mind immediately but they did to some of the other DT members and a few of the gallery entries too.  I picked one that hadn't been used so far and made this:
Since I used a sentiment from Altenew's cardinal set, I thought the music embossing folder would be a great background for her.

Thanks for dropping by.

Inkspirational #138

When I saw Inkspirational's word prompt this week I knew exactly what stamp set I'd use.  I only needed to figure out how.  I started with the sentiment and this is what happened.
MFT's The Whole Herd

I know just who this is going to, too.

Thanks for dropping by.

CAS(E) This Sketch #229

I was gone for almost two weeks, having fun with family and relaxing at the lake.  I missed making card (everything you saw was a scheduled post) and should have taken some of my coloring with me to do in down times.  I kept thinking "I could be making a card right now". Is that an addiction? 😧

The first card I did make when I got home was for this week's CAS(E) This Sketch.
I had a panel that I made using Karen's credit card technique and wasn't sure what I'd do with it.  I decided to cut it up with SSS stitched rectangles, glue them on some PTI Fine Linen paper and add the die cut from CP in Chocolate.  I have a piece left over that you will see in another card some day.

I'll be heading back up to the lake in a few days and have so much to catch up on here at home, plus an art project to hang in the cottage.  I'll sneak in a little more card making but will get back into it more fully next week when my niece, her husband and friends use the cottage for a week.  She lives in California now but spent a lot of summers at the lake and wants to reconnect with friends living here by sharing time with them there.

Thanks for dropping by.  I'm way behind in commenting but I'll get to you soon, I promise.

Addicted to CAS #115

NOTE:  If you saw this before it was because I scheduled it on the wrong date.

Ceal is the host for Addicted to CAS and she chose the word 'Summer'.

This time I had to resort to a digital image for my card but I love it!

Making s'mores is the epitome of summer to me.  A campfire, roasted marshmallows, a box of graham crackers and wonderful chocolate bars. Yummy yummy come down to my tummy.  Distress Inks were used to color my image and the sentiment is computer generated.

The rest of the Design Team have summer cards waiting to inspire you.  The winner of this challenge will get a $15 gift certificate from Create a Smile.
We hope to see you in the gallery.

Just Us Girls #401

It's Trend Week at Just Us Girls and Chris chose 'ink blending' before deciding that it was time for her to step down from the design team.  We will miss you, Chris, and wish you only the best.  Nancy will do hosting duty in her place this week.

When one designer leaves another one comes onto the team and our new team member is Angie Cimbalo.   Please be sure and check out her blog.

This challenge is exciting to me because you can get so many different looks with ink blending.  I went with a scenic look.
I taped off the edge of my Bristol and used Distress Oxides to make a field, mountain and cloudy sky.  In front are some wildflowers from CP's Stamp of Approval and a sentiment from Altenew's Birchland.

What will you do for your ink blended card?  I do hope you're making one. You could be chosen Chic of the Week and be eligible for a chance to guest design just like this month's designer Aileen.  Go to Just Us Girls to see the Design Team cards for inspiration.

It's Kylie's Birthday!

The Design Team from Addicted to CAS is holding a blog hop in honor of our fearless leader Kylie's birthday.  You should have come from Barb's Studio Creations.

I thought it most appropriate to use Kylie's stamp line from Happy Little Stampers to make a card for this celebration.
The sentiments are from Bold Birthday Sentiments and the birds from Whimsical Friends, both stamped and heat embossed so I could smoosh the background behind them with Distress Inks.  When that was dry I watercolored the birds with corresponding Oxide inks.

We appreciate all you do with your challenge blogs and stamp line, Kylie. Have a wonderful birthday celebration and  may this day be the start of a fantastic year.

Now you're off to Carolyn Bennie.

Hugs,

Addicted to Stamps and More #249

It's time to see your clean and simple (CAS) cards at Addicted to Stamps and More.  Here's mine.
I used my Brushos on watercolor paper, selecting where the colors would go according to my PB iris die.  I embossed the die into the cs and then offset the iris.  The border is a MCS die lined with purple glimmer paper and the sentiment is from CP's SOA.

The Design Team has some beautiful cards to inspire you so check them out and the join us in the gallery.
