Addicted to CAS #170

Angie chose this as the code word for this week's Addicted to CAS.
I wanted to make my own plaid so I used a stamp from C9.  Then I cut the panel down to make this.
I added a bow from Altenew and a tag and sentiment from a company no longer in business.  I originally had another card in mind but felt it wasn't CAS enough.  I still finished it to add to my Christmas stash.
The poinsettia and greens are from the same Altenew set as the bow, the frame from PTI and the sentiment from PB.

The Design Team would like to see your plaid cards in the gallery.  Why not check out what they did with the word and then make a card for us.

Just Us Girls #509 - Trend Week

I'm the host this week at Just Us Girls and it's Trend Week.
I've decided you should
That's right.  I'd like to see a frame on your card.
For my card I used a frame from PTI in gray that I popped up on fun foam.  A little splattering and a sentiment from SSS make a background for the Altenew flowers that I placed half in and half out.

Let's go over and see what the Design Team and our guest designer Chris Dring have made for the challenge.  We hope their inspiration will have you making a card with a frame.  You may be chosen Chic of the Week and a chance to be a future guest designer.

Inkspirational #197

This may not be what the girls at Inkspirational had in mind when they posted the inspiration photo but this is what occurred to me in my flurry of making Christmas cards.
I incorporated the colors into Christmas ornaments from STAMPlorations with Distress Inks then added a blue background in a watery/stormy sort of way.  If I had to do it over again I would have mixed the colors a little differently and I may try another one just to see.

Thanks for dropping by.  I'm so glad you did.

CAS Christmas - October

I'm not a big scene maker but when the challenge asks for one I oblige.  And CAS Christmas asked for one.

I embossed the Woodware image onto the MFT dome and then blended on Distress Ink.  The sentiment comes from the same set.  EZPZ.

Thanks for dropping by.  How are your Christmas cards coming along?

CAS Stencil - October

The challenge at CAS Stencil is one I want to remember to use more often.
If you have some subtle patterned paper, stenciling can really perk it up.  Here's what I did.
The PP is from an old Lawn Fawn set from 2013.  To me it gave the impression of falling snow although I didn't put any snow on my TH layered stencil.  I hope using the paper over the entire card left it CAS enough.  I had to do it that way for the tree to fit.  A TH die cut sentiment finished it off.

Thanks for dropping by.  Have a great day!

AAA Cards #150

This is the last Thanksgiving card I will need to make to have enough for the homebound members of my church.  I'm sending it to AAA Cards for their current challenge.

I used the PTI Beautiful Berries:Autumn with Altenew ink.  I just love the look of bittersweet.
Thanks for dropping by.  Have a great week!

Less Is More #405

I'm in the throes of making Christmas cards and when the Less Is More challenge came up I knew it would be perfect for my ornament stamp from STAMPlorations.
I mean doesn't "sparkle" speak ornament to you, especially when the "you pick" is gloss.
I used silver sparkle embossing powder for the ornament and N&T sentiment and then colored with Zigs.  After it was dry I added Pico Embellisher to the segments.  It looks a lot sparklier? and glossier IRL.

CAS(E) This Sketch #342

Today was World Cardmaking Day and I spent the day making Christmas cards.  Nine of them in fact.  This one for CAS(E) This Sketch wasn't one of them.  I made it a couple of days ago and I had to turn the sketch upside for it to work for me.
Oh no.  Now that I see it on the big screen I didn't do it correctly.  But I hope it's close enough.
My PTI snowshoes should have been on the left side of my card.  I made a snowy background and a torn paper snowbank to stand them in.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope you took advantage of WCMD to get some crafting done.

Just Us Girls #508 - Word Week

It's time for another Word Week at Just Us Girls and Nancy has chosen
I know you all have a lot some to make a card with.  I sure do.
My entire card is made with a paper pack that was gifted to me by Nancy last September when I visited.  The flowers and leaves are from Altenew and the sentiment from Verve.

I challenge you to use some of that Designer Paper you have been hoarding *wink* and make a card for Word Week.  The Design Team and our guest designer and former teammate Chris Dring can't wait to see what you make.

Happy Little Stampers Christmas - October

You know the Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge is anything goes, right?  But there's always an option and I think it's fun to do the option.  This time it's
When I think of twinkle, besides stars that is, I think of Christmas lights and that's what I did for my card.
I used a set from Lawn Fawn, coloring them with Distress Inks and coating them with UTEE.  The tops and string are silver foil and the sentiment is from N&T.

Let's go see what the Design Team did.  Did they use the twist? Will you?

The Flower Challenge #37 - CAS

It's already October and time for the next The Flower Challenge.
We are being sponsored by CASual Fridays and besides giving each Design Team member a stamp to use, they are also giving the winner of the challenge $25 to be used in their store.

For this card I used a stamp set I already had and knew immediately what I was going to do with it.
Using the Pretty Posies set, I heat embossed the flowers and leaves with WOW Silver Pearl on some colored vellum I've had for at least 10 years.  To add interest, the ivory panel was cut with the hemstitch die from Spellbinders and backed with orange.

We have Tina Magnusson with us as our guest designer.  I hope you'll go to The Flower Challenge and see what she and the Design Team have made for your inspiration. Don't forget that you must use the theme (Clean and Simple) and have stamped or die cut flowers as the focal point on your card.

Time Out #145

As you may have heard, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and Time Out has decided to use that as their theme for this challenge.
They are being sponsored by CASual Fridays and I used one of their stamps to make my card.  You know me I had to do the twist. ;)
I stamped in Altenew ink and clear embossed this Hope ribbon, adding a sentiment from the same set.

Thanks for dropping by.  It's been a rainy few days here but that just gives me more time to create.  I hope you have some creative time too.

CAS(E) This Sketch #341

This week's CAS(E) This Sketch is more about background than anything else.  Take a look.
I love argyle but not having anything but an embossing folder I went with my second favorite - plaid.
I got the stencil from a scrapbook store near the cottage and used Walnut Stain DI on PTI Orange Zest.  The MFT leaves are cut from gold metal and the PTI sentiment is gold heat embossed.

Thanks for dropping by.  I'm so glad you did.

Addicted to CAS #169

We have a fun one for you this week at Addicted to CAS.
At least I thought it was fun and I'm sure Toni did too when she chose it as our code word.  This is what I did with it.
Want to see the creature?
Inside it says: it's your birthday.  Celebrate and have a monstrously good time.
He's from Your Next Stamp, colored with PolyChromos pencils and covered with google eyes.  The window die is from EBE and the sentiment is computer generated.

I hope you join the fun and make a card for the challenge.  Check out the Design Team's creations first if you need some inspiration.

Just Us Girls #507 - Photo Challenge

This is the photo inspiration for this week at Just Us Girls
chosen by Maria.

I just happened to have some daisies that I colored with Zigs to look like sunflowers. They worked beautifully for the challenge.
I decided they needed not one border but two, so I added the gold and chocolate.  I know it looks black in the photo. :(

How does the photo inspire you?  Make a card for our gallery and you may be our next Chic of the Week.

AAA Cards #149

Let's twist again like we did last summer.  How's that for an ear worm?  I usually try to do the twist on a card challenge if there is one and I did on  AAA Cards - inlaid die twist.

They're being sponsored by Funky Fossil Designs so I used one of Sarah's stencils, inking it in autumn colors.  The die is from CP cut in GK Coral Reef, which it a beautiful Fall color IMHO.

Thanks for dropping by.  I'm so thankful for all my visitors.

Tag You're It! #97

It's time for another challenge at Tag You're It!  and this time Kara is our host.  She chose this as our inspiration.
This is so colorful and it will be fun to use up those scraps of patterned paper although I made mine from an ancient 6 x 12 pad from Provocraft.  I just checked.  It's dated 2005.
I used layered tags from a company that it out of business and that is where the sentiment came from too.  I placed them on a PTI tag with some black hemp glued with matte medium.

The Design Team had some fun with flags and their tags are available to see on the blog so please check them out.  We hope you'll be inspired to make a tag for the challenge.
