Smooshing is one of my favorite techniques for backgrounds. The sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch shown below just called for it.
I masked off the edges and put Mowed Lawn and Salty Ocean Distress Ink on an acrylic block, spritzed it with water and stamped it down. It left a lot of runny ink so I moved it around with a paint brush, added a little more color and then dried with my heat gun. The leafy vine from Poppystamps is a new addition, cut in two greens that sort of match but still stand out from the background. The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted.
The weather is turning here - rainy today - cold tomorrow - but I'm so glad we've gotten this far into November without snow or sub-freezing temperatures. Lots of things going on the rest of the week but I will be back with a few other cards I have already finished.
LOVE that background! I gotta keep working on this technique because I've seen such beauty but haven't pulled it off yet! Great card!!
ReplyDeleteYou create magic with the smooshed backgrounds; and the colours/images here are perfect for a sympathy card. We have snow...LOTS of snow...want me to bring you some *grin*?

Great idea to mask off and then smoosh, and such a gorgeous combo of colours too Bobby!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous smooshed background, Bobby ... love how the colours pop off the white ... and love how the leaf sprig pops off the smooshing! Gorgeous! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors and I love the movement the water made!
