Inspired By #259

I happened upon the Inspired By challenge and I have just the Halloween card for their ghost challenge.

The night sky sets the mood for my ghostly scene.  It was colored with Distress Oxides after masking off a circle for the moon. The haunted house is a die from MFT with yellow vellum behind the windows.  Both the ghosts and the sentiment are from EbyE.

Inspired By #200

Inspired By has a unique challenge this week.  To celebrate number 200 they want us to be inspired by previous challenge winners.  You can see them all in a link on the blog,  pick one and CASE it.  I was inspired by Loll's card.

I loved the black and white with a green wreath so used those elements on my card.

The wreath is from Catherine Pooler, cut from two different greens and layered off-set. For the berries I used some ancient Enamel Essentials. I was surprised they still worked.  Also ancient is the patterned paper.  The heat embossed sentiment is from PTI.

This will be my last post before Christmas so I'm wishing you all the blessings of health and happiness through the rest of this year and for the new year.

Inspired By #199

Inspired By has been giving us options for the cards we make for their challenge.  Of course I went with the Tweet Winter challenge featuring a bird.

The background is a smooshing of Speckled Egg and Iced Spruce Distress Inks.  I stamped the berries from Altenew's Winter Florals and watercolored with DI.  The 'chickadee' is my alteration of the Robin and Wren set from The Greetery - not true to life but a fair representation.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope all is well with you.

Inspired By #198, Mod Squad December and The Paper Players #570

When I made  a card for Inspired By I had no idea I would find several other challenges that fit.  My friend Judy is hosting Mod Squad and chose Just Snowflakes for the challenge and The Paper Players have a winter wonderland mood board so my card will go to all three.

You know how difficult it is to photograph shiny features so this looks so much better IRL.  It started with TH Resist Spray through a Lawn Fawn snowflake stencil and then TH Mica Spray after the stencil was removed.  The resist didn't work as well as I would have liked so I added some other snowflakes cut from white sparkle paper.  The sentiment from Penny Black was heat embossed with Sparkling Snow.  It doesn't show up much better in this close-up.

Thanks for dropping by.  I know it's a busy time but I hope you'll check out these challenges.

Inspired By #197

Inspired By is changing things up and having a color challenge this week.  They have a photo but we are to use the colors in the photo to inspire us.  Here's the photo.

And my card.

Can you see what inspired me?  It was the deep red in the glasses of wine.  I hope it's Sangria because that's the color of CP ink I used on my Pretty Pink Posh ornament stencil. I placed the second stencil over them, added Duo Transfer Gel and when it dried I covered it with foil and ran it through my die cutting machine.  I blocked of two of the ornaments so I could stamp the sentiment from Neat and Tangled.

Thanks for dropping by.  How are you coming with your Christmas cards?

Inspired By #196 and NBUS #32

I bought a Christmas stamp set last year and never used it.  Not like me really but it was after Christmas and I forgot about it.  The photo at Inspired By was just what I needed to break it out.

The set is from Reverse Confetti and is stamped on Bristol and colored with Zigs.  They were placed on a panel cut with the Altenew Mix and Match frames, also new, that was popped up on foam.  I decided to leave off a sentiment.

Since everything is new I'm sending my card to the NBUS challenge too.

Inspired By #195

I'm trying to not take photos too literal when I make a card for a challenge.  It's sometimes a stretch for me but the photo at Inspired By made the stretch necessary since I didn't have a lot of choices for stamps/dies.  Here's the photo.

Let's see if you can see how I was inspired.

I saw deer, snowflakes and the color green so they go together to make my card.  It started with a snowflake embossing folder (an older one so it's not 3D).  Using my Waffle Flower A2 dies, that panel was cut down and bordered with Pinefeather cardstock which was also used for the sentiment.  The reindeer is from Essentials by Ellen and was cut once from brown and twice from cardboard.  I decided to add a little snow to the letters for a little something extra using glue and Puff embossing powder.

What do you think?  It was fun to focus on the elements of the photo and not the picutre in its entirety.  I'm training myself to do this more often.  I hope you'll drop by the challenge to see what others were Inspired By.

Inspired By #194 and Peace On Earth #3

I've been conjuring up some Christmas decorations and one of my ideas includes a wreath similar to the Christmas photo on Inspired By.  I've made a paper one to practice.

The greens and bows are from Altenew's Holiday Bow, the Chisholm wreath from SSS, the shiplap stencil from Honey Bee and the sentiment from Penny Black.  Isn't it great how different  companies work so well together.

I'm also sending this to the Peace on Earth - an ongoing Christmas challenge.  This is my first time visiting them and they have a wonderful mood board to inspire us.

Thanks for dropping by.

Inspired By #193

Fall or Christmas?  Which photo inspires you at Inspired By?  I chose Christmas.

The images from WPlus9 were sent/given to me by Michele a few years ago and I just found them in my B&P box.  I cut a panel with The Greetery's crimped frame, added the deer and a Penny Black sentiment and put it all on DSP from Echo Park.

Have a great week and thanks for dropping by.

Inspired By #192 and Two Old Bats Halloween - October

Inspired By has such a softly colored Halloween image this week but I'm afraid mine isn't.  I have all my cards made and didn't need any more so I'll post one I've sent.

It all started with an inky background and a die cut of birch trees from TH. I used ghosts from EH and MFT, drawing on my own faces so I didn't have a black outline.  I interspersed them through the trees and added a heat embossed sentiment from MFT.  If 'boo' is a requirement for the card, it's on the inside. ;)

I'm also sending this to the Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge. It's anything goes as long as it's Halloween.

I went with my daughter and her friend to a Witch's Night Out at a little shopping center last night.  If you wore a witch's hat you got a free glass of wine, which we did, and then had treats at some of the other stores including bourban balls, a blood drink and s'more snacks.  What a good way to get people into the darling little stores and have fun in the process.

Thanks for dropping by.  Have a great day!

Inspired By #191

Inspired By has really been inspiring me lately.  Today I have two cards for their challenge, one based on the regular photo and one for the Christmas one.  I'll start with the Christmas one first.

I was taken by the red shoes in the photo (see below) so I started there with the Bear from EbyE.  Then pulling out some ancient patterned paper I made the scarf, his present and the ones beside him.  They were stamped with another EbyE set and fussy cut.  Can you see the words on the packages? They are the same as the sentiment. I also used some of the paper for a panel behind what was supposed to be a gray background for the bear.  I had him all glued down when I saw the gray piece on my desk that I planned to use.  Oops.

I couldn't leave out his cousin brown bear so I made another card with him, stamping him in brown and adding a little shading with colored pencil and black glaze on his eyes and nose.

Michele sent me the wagon that she colored with Copics and the contents uncolored quite a while ago when they first came out from EH.  I colored the pumpkins and gourds with Distress Ink and place them on a white panel stamped with a sentiment from CB. The border is an experimentation with smooshing Oxide inks that didn't come out very well but I didn't want to waste it.

I'm glad you dropped by to see what I've been up to.

Inspired By #190

I love white pumpkins and have a couple on my mantle.  I made paper ones for the challenge at Inspired By using both the photo and the sketch.  That's becoming a habit with me. ;)

The pumpkins are from SSS, the sentiment from EbyE, and the background paper from a Honey Bee pack. Love that pun.

Inspired By #189

This is my second card for Inspired By.  I really wanted to use the Christmas photo and had trouble coming up with a card so I made one for the other photo.  This morning I pulled out one of my favorite wreaths from WPlus9 and voila' here it is.

The houndstooth was in a paper pack my daughter gave me, the scalloped panel was in my Bits box and the silver cord for the bow has been in my stash forever.  The wreath was stamped with two Altenew greens and the berries heat embossed in white.  The Penny Black sentiment is silver embossed.  It's good to have one more card for my Christmas list.

Thanks for dropping by.

Inspired By #189

I recently got back from my summer at the lake and have spent the last two days unpacking and reorganizing my craft room.  I took two bins of stamps and dies to work with and ended up buying a few more during that time.  Since I had to put it all away and make room for the new I decided a redo was necessesary.  Now I have a fresh start to make cards for the Fall and Winter seasons.

There are so many choices for the Inspired By challenge this week.  I was fixated on the Christmas photo but couldn't seem to make something come together.  I looked at the sketch and an idea popped into my head.  It's actually a fusion of the All the Peels photo and the sketch.

I already had the apples from Sunny Studio stamped so that made the card even easier to make.  I was going to use the dome die from Waffle Flower for a basket but when I pulled it out I saw the little wood strip dies that I knew would make an even better basket or box. The gray piece was something in my Bits bin. I glued the slats onto copy paper and trimmed it to size.  One piece was used for the sentiment from Altenew.  The background is Rustic Linen cs from Papertrey Ink embossed with a folder from Lawn Fawn.  The photos are below.  Maybe they'll inspire you to make a card.

Thanks for dropping by.  You know I'd love for you to leave a comment.
