After all this time, I may be getting the hang of these photo inspiration challenges. So many times I try to replicate something so specifically that I tear my hair out trying to find the right stamp or paper or color. I was thinking that way about Therese Calvird's card at MUSE this week.
I have a stamp that looks like Wisteria so I could have done that. But the more I thought about it the less I liked the idea. Okay, so let me see. Flowers, purple green. And so this card was born, not without a few labor pains and some difficulty, I might add.
It's really a more reddish purple (Dusty Concord Distress Ink) IRL but this is the best my camera would do even after monkeying with it. I heat embossed the Queen Anne's lace with white on watercolor paper and colored the background. After letting it dry for a day, I stamped the stems and leaves with HA Field Greens. I tried to emboss the sentiment directly onto the paper but it didn't come out so to save it, I embossed it on vellum and laid that across the corner.
Thanks for stopping by. I love it when you visit.

This is gorgeous, Bobby! And I know what you mean about photo inspiration challenges. I admire people who can take a tiny detail or a feeling from a photo and run with that instead of trying to copy it. (Mine's a pretty strict CASE this week). I love that large flower - it looks gorgeous embossed - and that inked background is perfect!
Embossing is the perfect choice for this gorgeous flower it really makes it pop on the watercolour background and the vellum sentiment even though it wasn't planned is pure elegance!
I think you've captured the very essence of Therese's card perfectly here. And it's all yours too! I do like this one; it's really beautiful. Bev
Oh, this is beautiful!
Love your take on the inspiration card - the Queen Anne's really pops against the inked background!
Gorgeous Bobby! Love those flowers!
I love how you've incorporated the elements and colours all in your own way! So great to see you at Muse this week!
Gorgeous card - I really like Queens Anne's lace - so pretty!
This is a unique take on the Muse, I like u went with the colors and not the design, Lovely card
Wow, what a great mixed media card, Bobby! Love that watercolored background that makes the flowers show off so pretty!
What a great way to show off Queen Anne's lace with embossing! Just beautiful!
I tend to try to replicate the inspiration as well. Kudos to you for making this inspiration completely your own, and your end result is just gorgeous.
Me too, Bobby ... takes a good hard ping for me to find a particular element in an inspiration photo ... mostly mine are closer to replica's! These blooms are lovely ... the lace embossing is so striking against the gorgeous background ... so delicate! Anita :)
So glad you went the less obvious route ... it's definitely more difficult to do, but look with what you came up with that way! Great save on your sentiment too. You'd never know it needed saving : )
