July is almost half over and I just got a card made for the July CAS Mix-Up challenge. I had so much fun with the tissue paper techniques that Loll showed in her video but I should have worn gloves. I had as much ink on my fingers as on the tissue. I planned a panel that I hoped would look good as a die cut flower and I'm happy with the result.
The dies are from Altenew and the sentiment from EBE. I finally got a chance to use one of the embossed panels that Bonnie so generously sent me after I gushed over it several times.
In a conversation with Loll, she mentioned using a paper towel that had mopped up leftover ink from her craft sheet to make a background by laying it down on hot press watercolor paper and spraying it. I quickly pulled my paper towel out of the wastebasket and loved the pattern that was on it. I tried the technique with mixed media paper and it didn't come out very bright so I came up with another technique. Introducing "the paper towel background".
I thought this looked like a flower garden so using a sponge I spread school glue all over my cardstock and glued the paper towel to it. When it was dry I popped up the frame and added the hollyhocks from PTI and sentiment from EBE. From now on I may be saving all my mop towels.
Thanks for dropping by. I hope you take time to try a new technique.

What a soft, beautiful bloom, Bobby, gorgeous with all that crisp white space! Your paper towel background is amazing ... it's positively and wonderfully Monet-esque ... the hollyhock over the frame is perfect with it ... wow! Hugs, Anita :)
beautiful card...love the summery colors.

I'm with you on using my actual paper towels and this result is terrific, Bobby! I still want to give Loll's trick a try though. That woman's brain never stops thinking up great ideas! And your tissue paper flower and leaves with the stately border is elegant and divine!! Hugs, Darnell
So glad you had fun with the tissue paper watercolouring, Bobby. My fingers are always in a state of inkyness. :) Nothing like going out for dinner with blue fingers --- yuck! :) Your card is gorgeous ... I love the large bloom ... and the fantastic sentiment. Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up!
Sorry transferring ink from a paper towel didn't work for you ... but great idea to use the paper towel itself! Genius! So much beautiful colour and texture. We're all going to start using our mop ups. :) xx
Awesome bright cards. Lots of fun trying new approaches and they all came out beautifully.
Thanks for joining us at CAS Mix Up!

WOW! You've aced this technique, creating a duo of oh-so-pretty delights! Lovely way to use the 'mopping up' pieces!
