Group of Seven - Masked Stenciling

Hey there, crafty friends.  I'm glad you dropped by. 

I was intrigued by the technique at Group of Seven Cardmakers and thought I'd give it a try.  There are a number of things to consider when making a card with this technique so it was definitely a learning experience.  

First lesson learned:  The masking doesn't show up well when the image is too open.  I used the negative of a scalloped banner die on the bottom of my card base before inking up the PTI stencil.  You can see the curve but that's all.  And since there was a curve I used a sentiment from Catherine Pooler's "Something for Everyone Sentiments."

I guess I didn't learn the lesson but I wanted to use this stencil set.  For this card I cut a mask from Spellbinder's Notched Corner Frames, added it to the card base and stenciled all the veggies from Concord & 9th.  It was still too open so I inked around the edges with Pink Sand the same color as the mushrooms, which is not a bad look if you only have open image stencils.  The sentiment is from Honey Bee.
