Time Out #292 - Photo Inspiration

It's time for our Photo Inspiration Challenge at Time Out

The seashells and sentiment are from a Honey Bee set.  The background was colored with Distress Ink and splattered to resemble sand.  The shells are colored with Zigs and also splattered.

We are being sponsored by The Frantic Stamper and our winner will receive a $20 store credit so get those cards made.

The Design Team has plenty of inspiration for you on the blog.  We hope to see your card in our gallery.

I'm also sending my card to Cardz 4 Guyz #374 - Seashells.

ETA:  I just saw the challenge at Double D and I'm sending my card there too.

Can You Handle the Pressure? Masculine Twist

I was lucky enough to get an honorable mention at Can You Handle the Pressure?'s last challenge and now I'm back with another card.  You don't have to use the masculine twist but I do think this card qualifies.

I could have inked up my own background but I thought this Honey Bee paper filled the bill once I embossed it with Spellbinders' Scallops.  The seahorse and shells, also from SB, were stamped on Bristol and colored with Zigs.  Once cut, they were arranged on a piece of vellum that had the sentiment from HA stamped on it.  Luckily I could hide the glue behind some of the letters to hold the top in place.

Thanks for dropping by.  I wish you oceans of Joy too.

Just Us Girls #714 - Mood Board Week

Ina has a very colorful mood board for the Just Us Girls challenge this week.

Here's a close-up if you want to see the details.

I was drawn to both the colors and the sea shells and made this.

The images are from Spellbinder's Seahorse Garden, stamped, clear heat embossed, and colored with Zigs and Distress Inks.  The back panel was inked with Salty Ocean (what else) and Tea Dye and sprayed with Diamond Dust Glimmer Mist. Some seaweed was stamped directly onto the background. Then it was just a matter of arranging all the shells and seahorse.  I didn't have a sentiment I thought would fit so I left one off.

How does this mood board inspire you?  Be sure to check out the Design Team and our guest Denise Morgans to see what they have done.

Just Us Girls #687 - Word Week

Nancy has a great word for the challenge this week at Just Us Girls.

I was inspired by a card from Kristie Marcotte using all things HoneyBee.

I started with my go to for sand - Frayed Burlap Distress Spray then added Tumbled Glass for the sky.  The seashells are colored with Zigs with part of them loaded into the wooden crate. The sentiment is from their Flippin' Fabulous set.

I can't wait to see what you do with the word of the week.   There is plenty of inspiration from the design team and our guest designer Kristin Sluhon on the blog.

Fusion Card Challenge - Seagull Beach

I used to take photo challenges too literally and had a difficult time with them. I'm getting better at it and when I saw the photo at Fusion I immediately thought of a card I made a few weeks ago for fun and thought it would work perfectly with the beach idea and the colors.

The seashells are from HoneyBee, stamped in VersaFine Clair Morning Mist and colored with  Distress Inks.  I tore a piece of copy paper to make a shoreline, inking the sea with Speckled Egg and the sand with Antique Linen.  A few splatters and a sentiment from the same stamp set were the final touch.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope your week is going well.

CAS Mix-Up November - Stencils

Loll has brought back the stencil monoprint for this month's challenge at CAS Mix-Up. I don't always have the right stencils or get good results but this time things were going well and I ended up making two cards.

This one uses an old PTI stencil with Distress Inks.  The panel was cut down and mounted on ivory cardstock.  The sentiment from HA was stamped on a scrap of the watercolor paper and cut with an MFT die that fit perfectly along one of the lattice slats.  A little sprig from TH finishes it off.

This one uses another older PTI stencil but this time with Brushos.  It looks like waves so I added the seashells from Honey Bee, colored with Zigs.  The sentiment is from Altenew.  They are individual words and it took forever to line them up but I like what it says.

There's still time to enter this challenge and if you don't know about making a monoprint the description and a link to several videos can be found on their challenge blog.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope you take time to unwind.

Addicted to CAS #107

Barb has chosen 'seaside' as our code word at Addicted to CAS this week. This conjured up so many images for me.  When we used to be Alabama snowbirds, my husband and I walked the beach almost every day and picked up shells along the way. That's what inspired my card.
I used my MFT Sea Life dies to make this little scene on the watercolored sky and sand.  I cut the starfish and sand dollar from coaster paper, adding gesso to the sand dollar and colored texture paste to the starfish. The other shells were cut from a scrap of inked paper in my stash.  It took a while to find a sentiment - always a dilemma for me - but went with this one from PTI embossed in white.

Stamplorations is the sponsor for this challenge and are offering a $10 voucher to their store.
The Design Team has some wonderful inspiration for you over at the ATCAS blog.  Check them out and then enter your card in the gallery.

Just Us Girls #336

And another week rolls around.  Time for a photo challenge from Just Us Girls.
I have to say that I must have looked at this photo 10 times and went through all my stamps wondering what I could do for my card.  While looking for something else I noticed some seashells on my PTI Summer Jar Fillers and bingo!
I die cut a LF stitched panel from watercolor paper, stamped, painted and masked the seashells,  and then gave the panel a wash from top to bottom. Leaving the masks in place, I splattered some DI and used the Tim Holtz Distress Marker sprayer.  Instant sand!  The seagulls were hand drawn with my IdentiPen.

Need more inspiration?  Head on over to Just Us Girls to see what the rest of the design team has for you.  We'd love to see your photo inspired card in the gallery this week. You might be chosen Chic of the Week with a possibility of being a future Guest Designer.
