Just Us Girls #425 - Photo Week

Maria is our host and she picked this lovely photo for the challenge at Just Us Girls this week.

I had to zoom in to find my inspiration and I just couldn't help myself once I saw the owl on that pillow.

Michele sent me a number of  Lil' Inkers owls, knowing how obsessed I am with them, and I HAD to use one of them for my card.  My own little owl pillow.  ;)

Just Us Girls #397

Have you tried Brushos, Color Bursts or any of the powders that make such fabulous designs when you add water?  Now is the time to get them out and make a card for Just Us Girls because that's what our host Chris is asking for this week.

I did mine a little differently.  I took a large piece of multi-media paper and sprayed it with spray starch.  I sprinkled on the Brushos and watched them move and spread, spraying a little more starch and sprinkling a little more powder where needed.  Then I covered the entire paper with plastic wrap wrinkling it up and letting it dry overnight.  I meant to take a picture of the paper when I pulled the plastic wrap off but I forgot.  I die cut flowers, laying them in strategic places to get the best color and this is the result.

The sentiment is from Essentials by Ellen.  I had a lot of paper left after cutting an A2 size panel so I cut more flowers and made another card.

For this one I cut a stitched square from cream cardstock and stamped the sentiment from MFT in Cup O' Joe.

Addicted to Stamps #167

This week's challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More is "Make Your Mark" - use anything that makes a mark on your paper - markers, pencils, Zigs, whatever you have.

My card is a square, not something I usually do but I wanted to use the new Technique Tuesday stamp that Michele brought me when she visited last week, and it fit best on a square card.

I used my Zigs to color these delightful pansies that are stamped on a square cut with a SSS stitched square.  A larger  square cut the purple border.  I left off a sentiment mainly because I didn't know where to put one. ;)

Just Us Girls #300

As you can see from the title of my post, Just Us Girls is celebrating a milestone - 300 challenges. Appropriately enough, the Word Week cue is "Congratulations".  What do you do when you want to congratulate someone?  I think sending flowers might be in order.

Since I've been gone, I only looked at the challenge a short time ago and there was a little over an hour left before the linky closed.  Fortunately I had colored this Penny Black stamp while playing with my Ziggies (Zig Clear Brush Pens as dubbed by Laura Bassen).  I cut it with a SSS stitched square and mounted it with fun foam after stamping the PTI sentiment in HA Silver. Congratulations, Just Us Girls!  May you have many more challenges for us to have fun with.

The little squares were a leftover from a PPP die that I stuck on my craft sheet and inked with Distress Inks.  Then I separated them on the card front and added two drangonflies from Elizabeth Crafts, embossed with Verdigris powder.  I wish you could see the shine.  I added a layer of vellum to the wings and stamped a sentiment from Stamplorations.

The Challenge #34 and A Big Day

A challenge calling for yellow, orange and green screams "flower" to me.

In this case a Lily from Penny Black watercolored with Distress Ink on a SSS stitched square turned on its side.  It's popped up and a sentiment from Clearly Besostted was added along the side.  This is on it's way to The Challenge at Always Playing With Paper.

It's a BIG day today.  Not only is it the 17th birthday of my grandchildren but it's my parent's 73rd Wedding Anniversary. The triplets had their party last weekend but today the Living Center is having a party for my folks.  I've pulled out some old photos to have on display (back to my scrapbooking roots for that).  It's so much fun to go back and reminisce. Here's one that was taken at my granddaughter's wedding 5 years ago.

Curtain Call - Bouquet

It seems I have been doing a lot of flower cards lately - and there will be more, including now. This one is for the challenge at Curtain Call.

I watrcolored some daisies/asters some time ago but never did anything with them.  I thought this would be a good time to put them to use.

I saw the green striped pillow in the background of the inspiration photo and used that behind the stitched square. The sentiment from PTI is on an Avery Elle label.  This is the first of several sympathy cards you'll see from me in the next couple of days.  Unfortunately I need them.

AAA #37

Some people think robins are the first sign of Spring but to me it's tulips.  That's why I used them for the challenge at AAA - It's Springtime.

I stamped and masked the tulip from Penny Black, using Distress Ink.  Then using a combo of DI and Inktense pencils, I colored the flowers and background that was cut with
SSS stitched squares.  The sentiment from Clearly Besotted is stamped in HA Charcoal.
