TIME OUT and Time Away

How long has it been since my last post?  It seems like a lifetime but it's only been two weeks.  Sometimes after that long, it's difficult to get back into the creative groove but I've been plugging away and have half a dozen cards made and ideas for more.  Today's card is for TIME OUT #12.  The wonderfully talented Anita in France (My Papercraft World) is the guest designer and I just had to be part of the challenge and CASE her lovely card.

No matter where I take my pictures, they come out too dark.  I'm going to do some research on a better way to take photos.  I usually try to do them in natural light from my front window but that isn't always bright enough.  This one is on my night stand with light coming from above.  It's not too bad but still a little dark so you can't see the variations in color on the card very well.

I used a CAS-ual Friday die, colored it with Distress Inks and inlaid it into the card front.  A SSS die layered in three colors of blue make up the sentiment.  I thought it needed something else so I embossed everything with sparkle.  Believe me it looks great IRL.

----------------------------------

Now that my sister is here from Denver to help take care of my folks, I had some time to get away and be with my children and grandchildren.  Nine of us got together for "Girls' Week" in Ohio.  We shopped, geo cached, painted canvases, played games, and laughed til we cried.  At least I did.   I have a reputation for that.   The usual comment is "There she goes again."  lol  The younger group even spent a day at King's Island while my daughter and I took care of my great-grandson.

Are you ready for some blonde overload?  Here's a picture of the group the day we went to the outlet mall.  A passerby took the picture and some weren't too fond of how they looked since we were squinting into the sun.  But, hey, at least we're all in the same boat.

Thanks for stopping by.  If I haven't been to visit you lately, I apologize.  I should be posting and commenting more regularly now.  Have a great weekend and come back again.

Good to see you, Bobby! And I mean that both in terms of your blog and the fabulous photo! I think everyone looks fantastic and goodness, you can sure see the family resemblance!

Your CASE of Anita's card is terrific in every way! I think that link die was a perfect choice! Hugs, Darnell

What a great photo - how special that you all spent time together! I love your embedded die cut - the textured blue is a wonderful look. Personally, I'm not sure bright cards are possible with a camera. Photo editing software - the brightness/contrast or the levels adjustment rescues me time and time again!

Welcome back, Bobby ... looks and sounds as though you had a fantastic time ... what a gorgeous group of girls (and sweet little man!). Your card is fabulous ... love the inlaid die cut (that CF chain die is on my wishlist!) and all the variations in colour! Thanks so much for playing along at Time Out ... and for such a great CASE! Anita :)

PS If you use Picasa for your photo's, there's an auto-contrast button ... gets me out of loads of trouble!

What a cool take on Anita's card! The inlaid die cut looks very modern and stylish. I also recommend Picasa/other free photo editing software with a quick fix button, it's very easy to use and helps a lot! I also sometimes take my photos outside on our terrace, the light is always better outside no matter what weather. Direct sunlight doesn't work though! :) I remember reading an article about photographing hand made cards once, it was very helpful (there's suggestions on how to set your digital camera etc), if you google you'll surely find something. However, we can easily see from your photo that the card is gorgeous! Thank you for taking TIME OUT and joining our challenge!

What a great family photo, Bobby - thanks for sharing! You look like a very glamorous group :) I envy you spending girly time - our family seems to be dominated by boys, which does have its up side as I am able to craft while they all watch football!

Your card is fab - love the inlaid die cut and blues you have used. A great CASE of Anita's design.

A lot of my favorite bloggers have been missing in action a bit this summer - glad to see you back!

Love the family photo, but having a hard time reconciling the "great-grandmother" bit :)
