CAS Mix-Up October 2026

Linda is hosting this month's CAS Mix-Up challenge and the technique is blackout.  It's a fun one to do and if you haven't done it before there are videos on the blog to help you through.

I've made several and this one was a little different since the embossed images are so small.

The embossing folder is Tiny Flora from SSS.  It was colored with Altenew inks on the debossed side with small blending brushes.  Once dry, black ink was lightly rubbed over the top until the raised part was covered.  The frame around my  panel is Double Frames from Penny Black.

For more inspiration please check out what the Design Team and our guest Darnell have made using this technique.  We'd love to see you try it and enter a CAS card in our challenge.

This is beautiful Bobby and I love the frame you have used to enclose it, and the soft pink blue and yellow flowers really pop against the black use for the blackout, and the white shaped birthday sentiment looks perfect across the card. x

Your little blooms are framed beautifully. This is a great technique. I have only done it once but will have to do another one for this challenge. Thanks for the inspiration.

Beautiful black-out technique! I really enjoy the light colors as a conrast to the stark black

Well, blackout embossing is a new technique for me! I LOVE your florals and they work beautifully with that wonderful scalloped frame die. The black really pops with all that white.
Have a fabulous week
