Just Us Girls #685 - CAS Week

Elizabeth has a wonderful theme for this week's Clean and Simple challenge at Just Us Girls.

'Thinking of you' cards are good for many different occasions.  You just have to make it clean and simple.

These little PPP hummingbirds were colored with Zigs and WOS although you can't see the shine here.  I gave them a banner from MCS (oob) stamped with the sentiment from Hero Arts.  It wasn't centered so I added the little heart.  One of those happy accidents because I love the how the heart looks with it.

It's time for you to check out what the Design Team and our guest designer TK have made.  We hope to inspire you to join our challenge.  CAS seems to be a favorite with many of you.

CTS #106 and CF#135

I'm glad you all can't see my desk.  I've been working on 3 cards simultaneously, plus there's a stack of NBUS waiting for labels.  It's a wonder I can get anything done with this mess. But I persevered and have two card for you today.  First up is the one for CAS(E) This Sketch, where my MI buddy Michele is the new Design Team member.  You'll have to head over there to see her wonderful card and those of the rest of the team.  WAIT!  Not now.  I'm still talking. ; -)

SSS Fog cardstock, Hero Arts stencil with embossing paste colored with Soot Distress Ink, Elizabeth Craft Designs die, embossed with Black Sparkle powder (sorry the sparkle doesn't show up).

Next up is my quickly thrown together at the last minute card for CASual Friday - use felt and sequins.  I'm not much on using felt and rarely use sequins but decided to get out of my comfort zone, simply because I need to come up with a dozen valentines.

Patterned paper by Echo Park, banner die by MCS  and sentiment from W& W

Okay.  Now you can go check out both of these challenges but you'd better hurry.  They end in the next day or so.

Muse #25c CFC #109 and SC2

The minute I saw the Muse for this week from Therese Calvird, I knew what I wanted to do.

Have you ever heard the poem by Gelett Burgess called "I Never Saw a Purple Cow"?

I never saw a purple cow.
I never hope to see one.
But I can tell you anyhow
I'd rather see than be one.

I used to love this poem and even had a little purple cow statue.   Or maybe I loved the poem because I loved that purple cow.  No matter, it inspired me to make this card using cows instead of flamingos.

I cut the cows from Create a Critter and stamped their faces with a Peachy Keen stamp.  Unfortunately the photo doesn't show the winking face on the purple cow.  If I had it to do over, I would use a lighter purple. I printed the sentiment on the computer and inked the grass with Peeled Paint Distress Ink.

I also got a chance to do another card for my homework for the Summer Camp 2 online class.  This is my 10 Minute Challenge.

I cut the banners from the My Craft Spot banner dies in various polka dot papers.  The white panel is cut 5 1/2 by 3 3/4 and mounted on foam tape to a gold paper.  The sentiment is from PTI's Birthday Bash stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black.  I used a Zig pen to add the line and swirls carrying the banners.  10 minutes on the dot!  It would have been a little quicker but I dropped my Cuttlebug plates and had trouble getting the paper off the foam tape.

I am also entering this card in challenge at CAS-ual Friday.

I'm glad you stopped by today.  Please leave a comment so I know you were here and have yourself a wonderful day.

Retro CASual Addiction

Three challenges, two cards, one busy lady.

Card #1 is for CASual Fridays and Addicted to CAS.

Most bloggers did a traditional red, white and blue for Memorial Day card.  I knew I'd never have a reason to send a card like that so chose a different path.  I found this cute paper in my Soho Gardens 6 x 6 pack and knew it would make a great card.  The banner is from SSS and the stamp from PTI, done in Hero Arts pale tomato.

Card #2 is for Retro Sketches.

It took me a while to decide on a paper for this card but in flipping through my 6 x 6 packs I ran across this one and loved it.  The black background is embossed with Swiss Dots to give it the look of some of the images on the paper even though not much of it shows. It has a white core so the dots show up more than they would on a plain black. The little triangles are from my new Tiny Triangles stamps from PTI.  I liked the look of the little lines in it but now looking at it, I wish I had outlined it with a black shadow.  Both the white layer and the triangles are popped up on foam tape.  The sentiment is a new one from PTI and stamped in Hero Arts tide pool.

Thanks for stopping by to visit.  I hope you have a wonderful day.
