Two for One

I loved this bright sunflower-like paper and wanted to make a card from it.  Enter the Freshly Made challenge.  It was the perfect sketch for this paper. 

I needed something rather large to show off the pattern so I chose to make a half sheet card (5 1/2 by 8 1/2.)

I cut the large sunflower looking bloom from Accent Essentials but one didn't look right.  I cut a second one but it didn't look right with two either plus a design rule is "set of three".  Sooo, I cut a stem from Cindy Lou and that was my answer.  The card base is Kraft cardstock and the rest of the paper is from my trusty Amber Autumn stack from DCWV, except for the dark brown.  I'm also entering this into the Birthday Sundaes challenge.

Since I had a blossom left over, I HAD to make another card.  This one is just an A2 so the blossom fills up the card and there was no need for any extra stem or anything.  Now that I see it printed here, it looks amazingly like the flower in the paper. 

Since it's so bright and cheery, I decided to make this one a "thinking of you-cheer-get well" card.  It cheers me up. :-)

You're Leafing?

Last week I entered a fall card into a couple of challenges.  See that post here.  It was a rather energetic undertaking and came out great.  In fact I was chosen one of the top three on My Craft Spot.  This week  Fantabulous Cricut had a challenge called  "Leaves are Falling".  I wanted to do something entirely different for this one.  I tried to think of a card other than a happy fall or thanksgiving one and here's what I came up with.

Using Accent Essentials, I copied, flipped and welded a leaf and cut if from kraft cardstock.  I cut a template for the top layer.  Then I inked a half sheet of paper,  printed  the sentiment on my computer, and laid it under the template to cut.  Not quite right, so I did a little inking on the kraft paper and embossed the top layer to give it some shine.  The sentiment "Sorry You're Leafing" could be for a retirement or moving card.  I love a good pun! :)

Using up paper

A lot has been going on this past week.  I did get to post some cards I'd made previously and will have to do the same today.  I have Girls' Week, even though it will be only 2 days this year, with my mother, daughter, daughter-in-law and 4 of my granddaughters on Monday and Tuesday.  After they leave on Wednesday, I have to get ready for my class reunion on Saturday.  That means no new cards until next week unless I can sneak one in.  I did have to miss the FCCB challenge this week and I had a real good idea for a bug card.  Oh well.

This card uses up the printed portion of a paper from the Amber Autumn stack by DCWV.  I had used the unprinted part of the paper for another card because it was the color I needed.  Not one to waste paper, I came up with this.

The printed paper is matted with 2 colors from the leaves.  Then I cut out the leaves from one of those colors using Accent Essentials and popped the top one up with dimensionals.  I printed the sentiment on my computer and punched it out with a 1 1/2" punch.  I rubbed some distress inks over it to give it some leaf color. 

I have a new tool in my craft room but I haven't even had time to check it out.  I'll let you in on it at the end of the week.  Can  you  guess?
