Gifts

I made a quick card today in order to make it into the Freshly Made and Fantabulous Cricut challenges on time.   The Freshly Made sketch is below.

The Fantabulous Cricut challenge was a holiday card.  That left me wide open.  The minute I saw this tree pattern from an old Christmas stack I knew I could make a rather vintage looking card.  And what better to go with trees than gifts.

The packages are cut from the CM 'Tis the Season cartridge, using a couple of papers from MME's Lost and Found, and popped up with foam.  The stripe is from the same stack as the trees.  I inked it all with Antique Linen Distress Ink to keep with the paper color.

Now I have to get back to the craft room to make more cards for several other challenges.  Someday I'll decide which of these cards will be the ones I want to make in multiples for sending to friends and familly.

Dear Santa

I had several ideas for the card challenge at Mojo Monday.

I was definitely going to do the square card and decided to do it this way.

I thought the dark strips looked like a belt so I made one.  The buckle is cut from 'Tis the Season cartridge.  I used a black patent paper from a texture and finishes stack by DCWV for the belt and silver for the buckle.  I tore a strip of white and cuttlebugged it to look like Santa's fur.  The scroll is also cut from 'Tis the Season.  It actually looks better than I imagined.  I'm also entering this in Fantabulous Cricut - holiday card.

New Challenge

I found a new card challenge the other day, just as some others are taking a holiday break.  Maybe I should break, too, but I love doing the challenges.  This newest one is The Paper Players.  The sketch for this week is
It looked fairly easy so to make it more difficult, I combined it with the challenge at Friday Mashup - (1) use aqua, chocolate and white (2) make a Christmas card.  Or mash it up and do both in one card.  Now THAT's a challenge.  I thought the best way to use those colors would be to do a peace theme with a dove.  So here it is.
The cut is from CM 'Tis the Season cartridge and the printed paper is from Ornamental Christmas by The Paper Studio.  The plain, yet glittery piece is from DCWV Linen Closet, and the rest from my stash.

Well, what do you think?  Did I meet the challenges?

Snow Buddies

Last week I ordered the Creative Memories 'Tis the Season cartridge from Diane Campbell Payne.  I wanted a Christmas cart besides the Christmas Cheer one that I had.  Originally I thought I wanted the Christmas Noel solutions cart but it has been retired.  I tried unsuccessfully to bid on several on eBay but when I compared the images, I decided that 'Tis the Season would be a better buy anyway.  I haven't had much time to really get into it but I did do one cut on today's card that I quickly made for the Freshly Made challenge.

The background is a Core'dinations Whitewash and the dark blue is from an old Christmas stack from DCWV.  The digital image is from my collection from pcCrafter.  I tore a strip of white, cut the snowflake, ran them through my Xyron upside down and sprinkled them both with Diamond Dust.  So simple and yet so cute.
