Going Bats

A month or so ago my mother called to tell me she had a bird in her house.  She said "I'm not crazy.  Dad doesn't see it but it's flying around.  Can you please come and get it out?"  The minute I walked in the door and saw it swoop I knew immediately her "bird" was a bat.  When it flew into the living room, I closed off some doors (thank goodness those older houses aren't "open concept").   I opened the front door and using a broom tried to swish him out.  As he started swooping, I got down on my hands and knees, crawled to the door opening, and waited for him to fly overhead.   He finally found the open door and flew to freedom.

When I saw the "over the edge" challenge at Cas-ual Fridays, I had an idea of what style card I wanted to make.   Then Fantabulous Cricut's challenge came up - "Boo Spectacular", use orange and black.  So how can I combine orange and black and go over the edge. Hmm

Edited to read: I was invited by CreativeM to enter my card in the Pause Dream Enjoy challenge "Make a Night Project".  Thanks, Migdalia.  I just might have found a new challenge.

The black card base is 4 1/2" square and embossed with the Distressed Stripes folder.  The moon is cut from a golden color at 3 3/4" from George.  I inked it with Dried Marigold Distress Ink to give it an orangier, more orangy, whatever the term would be, color and some dimension.  The bats are cut from Happy Haunting and applied with glue dots so their wings are free to fly.  Just not into my parent's house.  lol

The rain has stopped but I'm still going to make this a crafty day since tomorrow will be a busy one.  I hope you all find time to get in some crafting, too.

omg that is the funniest story. I used to be a wedding planner one wedding I did was at the Canfield Casino a historical building in Saratoga they were remodeling and stirred up some bats the band started playing the bats flying around the girls tied napkins on their head on the dance floor it was a good thing the bride and groom had a good sense of humor. Your card is awesome great embossing like the creepy bats...
