Freshly Made Sketches #751 and NBUS #89

My friend Michele is the host at Freshly Made Sketches and has given us a great sketch to base our cards on.  I made another Halloween card.

I wanted to do something other than squares and the NBUS Penny Black Ripple frame die was on my desk and I used the centers to put my image and sentiment on.  The bat from Unity's Creep it Tweet was stamped on light gray and edged with Black Soot.  The sentiment from the set is white heat embossed on darker gray, edged in white.  To add more fun, I glued the two circles together and popped them up with a paper square.  They fold to the right for mailing.

The first time with the dies and this image means off my card goes to Darnell's NBUS challenge.

Thanks for dropping by and spending a bit of your day with me.

The Paper Players #775

The Paper Players are looking for Mystical Creatures for their current challenge.  I don't have any dragons or unicorns but I do have gnomes so I went with that.

This card was created last Halloween but I never posted it.  I hope that's okay and that this cutie is accepted into the gallery.  The gnome is from Gina K and the witches hat from Sizzix fit him perfectly.  The background paper is from Doodlebug Designs, the oval is from Spellbinders and the  sentiment was computer generated.

Time Out #300

No matter where you are in the world, the Time Out challenge wants to see your Autumn celebration.

I don't make Thanksgiving cards so my choice was to do a Halloween card since I send them to my greats and grands every year.  They are fun to make and the kids enjoy them.

The candy images are from Spellbinders Halloween Wonder except for the mint which is from PPP. The DSP is from Doodlebug and the sentiment is computer generated.  In an earlier post I mentioned my printer dying.  After some research I found just what I was looking for.  In fact it's called "The Crafter's All-In-One" by Canon.  There was a bit of a learning curve at the beginning but I'm loving it.

There will be a variety of celebrations highlighted by the design team.  Check them out for inspiration and make a card for the challenge.  The winner will receive a $25 store credit to Doodlebugs.wa.

Just Us Girls #796 - Word Week

Sue is the host for Word Week at Just Us Girls and her word is

If you're behind on your Halloween cards, this is a chance to catch up.  If you don't usually make cards for this occasion, I hope you'll give it a try.

It all started with a PTI frame cut in black and white.  The white sections were colored with Distress Inks after masking some of the images from Ellen Hutson (oob) and inlaid into the layered frame.  Another owl was fussy cut and placed over the stamped one as was the moon.  The images were colored with Altenew artist markers and some PPP stars added.

Let's go see what the Design Team and our guest Greta did.  Scary or Cute?  What do you think?

Freshly Made Sketches #706

I'm finally back in my main studio and jumped right in to making a card for Freshly Made Sketches.

I turned Tim's Festive Wreath into a Halloween one by adding skulls, a spider and crossbones from Tim's Frightful things.  The orange background was stamped with Honey Bee's web in Versa Mark and covered with Perfect Pearls.  The sentiment paper is from Doodlebug.

Color Hues #96

I've been working on Halloween cards and thought the colors at Color Hues warranted another one.

I cut a circle to mask the moon before blending the background with Distress Inks.  A background stamp from Penny Black and some bats from Winnie and Walter made my spooky scene.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love it when you do.

Inspired By #259

I happened upon the Inspired By challenge and I have just the Halloween card for their ghost challenge.

The night sky sets the mood for my ghostly scene.  It was colored with Distress Oxides after masking off a circle for the moon. The haunted house is a die from MFT with yellow vellum behind the windows.  Both the ghosts and the sentiment are from EbyE.

Double D - Pink October

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month the the gals at Double D want us to use pink on our cards to support the cause.  I love the mood board and just had to make a Halloween card.

And a sparkly one at that.  The shoes and hat from MFT are cut from glitter paper.  The barrel is on loan from a friend and was colored with Mica Spray. The sentiment is from EbyE.  I'm having so much fun making Halloween cards.  One more and I'm done.

Thanks for dropping by.

Tic Tac Toe #228

I don't know if Felicita meant for us to do Halloween cards at Tic Tac Toe but the board sure suggests that to me.  I used the diagonal row bottom left to upper right.

The spider and web are from Honey Bee.  It was stamped on the card front after ink blending with Carved Pumpkin, Villianous Potion and Black Soot Distress Inks.  A touch of shimmer spritz was added before the sentiment from EbyE, that was cut from C9 black foil, was attached.

Thanks for dropping by.

Color Hues #50

Orange and purple is the order of the day at Color Hues.  Of course I had to make a Halloween card.

So many different companies came together to make this card.  MFT witch legs, EbyE sentiment, HoneyBee postage stamp die, Sizzix swirl embossing folder and TH Distress Spray Stain.

It's on my agenda to see the new Hocus Pocus 2 movie.  What about you?

Tic Tac Toe #182 and CYHTP?

I love it when two challenges collide.  Today's card is for Tic Tac Toe and Can You Handle the Pressure?

The background was made by smooshing some leftover Jack o -lantern mica spray that was in my tray.  When it was dry, I embossed it with the SU Subtle folder.  Over it I layered the house (also embossed with a woodgrain folder), some bats and a sentiment from EbyE.

I used the first column down, Halloween, Orange and Embossing.  The theme twist at CYHTP? is orange and black.

I've been having fun making Halloween cards the last few days.  I have one more to finish for the 10 I need.  You'll probably be seeing some of them pop up here in the next few weeks.

AAA Cards #201

Today's card is for the AAA Challenge - use one corner, optional 'Boo'.  I hope 'Eek' works as well.

I'm sorry but the items on my card are from companies no longer in business. The web is stamped in black and glitter embossed and the spider is cut from flocked paper.  It looks way better IRL.

Inspired By #192 and Two Old Bats Halloween - October

Inspired By has such a softly colored Halloween image this week but I'm afraid mine isn't.  I have all my cards made and didn't need any more so I'll post one I've sent.

It all started with an inky background and a die cut of birch trees from TH. I used ghosts from EH and MFT, drawing on my own faces so I didn't have a black outline.  I interspersed them through the trees and added a heat embossed sentiment from MFT.  If 'boo' is a requirement for the card, it's on the inside. ;)

I'm also sending this to the Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge. It's anything goes as long as it's Halloween.

I went with my daughter and her friend to a Witch's Night Out at a little shopping center last night.  If you wore a witch's hat you got a free glass of wine, which we did, and then had treats at some of the other stores including bourban balls, a blood drink and s'more snacks.  What a good way to get people into the darling little stores and have fun in the process.

Thanks for dropping by.  Have a great day!

Just Us Girls #604 - Word Week

Carol is our host for Word Week at Just Us Girls and she has chosen an appropriate word for this time of year.

I don't know how many of you send Halloween cards but they sure are fun to make.  I send to my grand and great-grand children plus I have a friend whose birthday is October 31 so I love to make them.  I don't have a lot of Halloween stamps with me but I did buy a few while I was here and this is the card I made.

I also had to buy the TH Halloween mica spray stains and they make the background of my card.  I must say I think there is a learning curve to using them or else I spray too heavy but I still like how it turned out.  The cauldron and heat embossed sentiments are from MFT.  I sprayed the appropriately named "Bubbling Cauldron" for my brew and it's accompanying bubbles.  The panel was cut with MFT's wonky stitches and placed on a black card base.

Our guest designer for the month of October is none other than Nora Noll.  Be sure to check out her fabulous Halloween card and those from the rest of the Design Team.  If you join our challenge you have a chance for a guest designer spot in an upcoming month.

Inkspirational #224

The photo inspiration at Inkspirational was just what I needed to finish up my Halloween cards.

I smooshed a background with Distress Ink.  The trees are a TH die cut that I cut in half and ran a dark brown mini cube across for texture.  The witch silhouette is from GM and the sentiment from MCS (OOB).

Thanks for dropping by.

Just Us Girls #558 - Color Week

Maria picked these colors for Just Us Girls this week:

The colors reminded me of  Halloween and I had a partial background stamped so I just finished it up.

The side "banners" were made with a Christmas tree from RC.  I die cut the panel with MFT's wonky stitches and matted it with purple and orange paper.  The die cut is from Gina Marie and the sentiment is from EbyE.

What do you think of when you see the challenge colors?  The Design Team and our guest designer Karen Walker all have some wonderful cards to inspire you.  If you join in and are chosen Chic of the Week, you could be our guest designer.

The Card Concept #122

I made this card a while ago to send to my great-granddaughter for Halloween and when I saw the inspiration photo at The Card Concept I thought it fit the challenge.
I saw a pile of pumpkins in my local WalMart that were in white, pale green and peach so that was my first inspiration.  Using a set from HoneyBee I colored and cut a variety of pumpkins and arranged them on my card front.  The sentiment is computer generated and to go along with that I added a flower to the peach pumpkin and although you can't see it they were both covered with WOS.  This completed my clean and layered card.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope your week is going well.
