Time Out #48 and OCC

My card for Time Out was quite the struggle.  In the first place we were to CAS(E) this absolutely gorgeous card by Marika.
It's hard to compete with talent like hers but I was up to the challenge - or so I thought.  I don't know if I should show you the final card first or start with my first attempt.  Okay, for those of you who only want to see what I am entering in the challenge, I'll show you that one first.  Then you can stop reading and go on to something or someone else.
I masked, inked with Wilted Violet, embossed, die cut and watercolored flowers from SSS and added a sentiment from PB in gray.

Now for the rest of the story which shows how to turn disaster into triumph. I first did this card.
See where the N&T labels are?  There was a smudge. Next.
Under that banner?  Yup, another smudge.
And under that leaf?  Yes, yet another smudge.  But I managed to overcome and now have four cards for four different occasions.  And while we're on a purple spree I thought I'd show you one more card.  This one is from the Online Card Class - Intermediate Watercoloring.
We learned how to make hand painted flowers for a background.  I'm way behind in the class because I signed up late and with all the practice it takes I may have to give up my other card making - NOT.

If you made it to the end, I thank you.  Please come back again.

Some days it's drops and smudges everywhere for me too, thanks for sharing the perfect with the only very slightly imperfect lol. They all look so pretty together, love the shade of purple that you chose!

Way to go! My smudges are usually so obvious there's NO masking them - lol! ALL your cards are awesome; love your watercolor class card too (I too get way behind because of laundry, cooking, cleaning, work...life).

All cards are superb and you did a fab job covering up smudges. Mine are usually black or in a different colour so out come enamel dots! Thanks for joining TO

Talk about persistent!! Well done finally coming up with your card, I would have given up in a pile of tears! Luckily all of those cards are beautiful and its always good to have a few spare. I love the water colouring of the flowers for your entry card and your ink blending is perfect in the background. Always so happy to see you at TIME OUT!

Wow, so many great cards! I think you've turned your accidents around in a very good way and now you have so many cards to use! So it's all a victory! Your card for the challenge is maybe my favorite -the soft water color look is very pretty. Thanks for taking TIME OUT and joining our challenge!

Very interesting, Bobby, to see your process. I can totally relate to getting smudges on a card. I think that all of your earlier attempts are still beautiful and would make any recipient happy. And, your final take, the one you submitted, takes the cake, creme de la creme. Simply gorgeous. Thanks so much for sticking with it and playing along with us at Time Out.

WOW! What an effort you've gone through. Thank you! All cards are beautiful in my opinion and as you may have seen, I mess up with my creations in almost every time and so does everyone who creates something. Sometimes I'm able to edit the process out but sometimes I'm not and I think it is important to show - and this goes with us all who craft - our mistakes so the belief what is seen in blog land that we succeed in every attempt would go away. We do handmade cards and little "messes" here and there just add more character. Love your patient, thank you so much for CASEing my card and thank you so much for your kind comments left on my blog. You truly are amazing!
