My Crafty Adventure 2.0

After Marcia departed our crafty adventure, I stayed overnight and Michele and I made more cards or parts of cards the next morning.  Today we're showing them off.

First up is Festive Friends from Spellbinders.  This darling bear has had my heart for a while and I couldn't wait to dress her up.

Her cute sweater is from one of Michele's paper packs, the background is embossed with Waffle Flower's Dashed Snowflake, and the gold sentiment (that matches the gold string on the lights) is from Michele's stash.

One of Michele's new sets is Cherry Nice from Concord and 9th - a stamp, die and embossing folder bundle.

The cherries were cut from red and green scraps, inking sections to add shading.  The embossed panel was trimmed to show off the plaid border.

Up next is Snow Notes from Spellbinders.  You may have seen some of the wonderful cards  Michele made with this set.

The background is a coverplate from Concord and 9th and the sentiment is from Ellen Hutson.  They look like they're really enjoying themselves.

Last but not least is a delightful image from Penny Black called Heartsong.

It was stamped on watercolor paper and colored with Distress Ink.  Their Classy Frames were stacked three high and the sentiment from the set added to the side.

It's not surprising what cards you can accomplish when you have friends to inspire you - and lend you their products. Thanks again, Michele, for having me.  You are such a blessing in my life.

Inkspirational #345

The Inkspirational theme is three of the same and so daisies it is.

The funny thing is I went to my secondary Facebook page and this same design came up.  I searched my blog and saw I made one like it in June of 2023. The only difference was in the color of the background, the color of the basket and where the sentiment was placed.  The daisies are from TH Wildflowers, cut from watercolor paper and colored with Distress Inks.  The basket from The Greetery was cut in silver and backed with vellum.  The light blue background is embossed with the Timeworn Type folder.  The sentiment from The Greetery was added to a silver stick and bracket.  I guess a good design bears repeating. 😉

Thanks for dropping by.

Just Us GIrls #771 - Mood Board Week

Elizabeth has a fun mood board for you this week at Just Us Girls.

I was inspired by the chicks and eggs on the bottom right two panels.

The image from Penny Black was stamped on watercolor paper, colored with Distress Inks and cut with their Classy Frame.  The remaining panel was embossed with Altenew's Dotty Circles and the frame stacked and inserted.  The sentiment is from PTI.

What inspires you in the mood board?  Check out what the Design Team did and make a card for the challenge for a chance to be a guest designer.

Edited to add: I was given a gentle nudge that my card fits the mood board at Inkspirational so I'm sending it there.

Just Us Girls Challenge #757 - Word Week

Our host Sue has chosen Masculine for Word Week at Just Us Girls.

Masculine cards can be difficult cards to make and ones I usually need a lot of so I'm glad to get a nudge with this challenge.

I recently got this Take Wing set from Penny Black and I think it makes a great masculine card.  The two pieces were stamped on watercolor paper and colored with Distress Inks.  The sentiment is a Betterpress from SB.

The Design Team and our guest Annette have some masculine cards for you to see.  I  hope they inspire you to play along with our challenge.

Group of Seven card two

I was inspired by Bonnie's card using Penny Black's Reds and Greens die to make another card for the die cut background technique at Group of Seven Cardmakers.  The die was new to her but I've had it a long time and haven't used it lately.

The ones for the background were cut from Hammermill paper and glued to a Hammermill panel which is a lighter weight cardstock than the PTI that I regularly use and what constitutes my card base.  The colored one was cut from watercolor paper, painted with Distress Inks and added to a PFS label that was stamped with a sentiment from PTI.

These ladies have so many unique ideas for different ways to step up your card making.  I can't wait to see what they present us with next.

Color Throwdown #783

Hey there.  I'm so glad you dropped by.

The soft colors of the challenge at Color Throwdown spoke to me, especially after seeing a card on Pinterest that used a once favorite older set from SSS.  I thought I saved it to give reference but I guess not.

Artful Flowers were stamped on watercolor paper and colored with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink.  The background was colored with Bundled Sage DI and covered with an Altenew striped plate cut in GinaK ivory.  I couldn't let those off cuts go to waste so I made a second card.

The cuts are glued to an Ocean Tide panel and layered on an ivory card base.  This time the flowers were stamped using CP Pink Champagne and arranged left to right.  A little spritzing added some interest.  A darker color way gives an entirely different feel to this card.

Have a great week!

Freshly Made Sketches #617

Sometimes I get excited about a card I've made and today's card for Freshly Made Sketches is one of them.

It's not the card itself that thrilled me but the fact that I could make mittens and a cap that actually look knitted.  I inked the Knit Pattern embossing folder with CP Sangria ink and ran it through my die cutting machine. The stamps from SSS were lined up in the center of the folder where the pattern curved, stamped several time so I could see the lines and die cut.  For the white pom, I stamped the top of the hat, embossed it in white, added Puff embossing powder in the middle using an embossing pen, and fussy cut it out.  The images are popped up on SSS stitched squares.  The scarf was stamped on watercolor paper, the sentiment embossed in white and then it was colored with CP  inks.

Thanks for dropping by. I love it when you do and even more when you leave a comment.

Just Us Girls #665 - Color Week

Lisa E is our host for this week's color challenge at Just Us Girls and she has chosen these:

It looks like a soft color palette in the gallery this week.  Won't you join us?

The Mondo Sakura from EbyE was stamped, heat embossed and painted with Altenew watercolors.  A panel was cut with Reverse Confetti lacy rectangles and backed with Desert Storm.  The sentiment was heat embossed on the same color.

We welcome Karen Walker as our guest designer this month.  She and the rest of the team have some wonderful cards to share with you and to hopefully inspire you.

Color Hues #46

Color Hues is paying tribute to a friend who recently passed away. Lindsey was part of the team and had chosen the colors for this challenge.

She was also a member of the Seize the Birthday Design Team so they joined the Color Hues team this week to honor Lindsey's memory.  Gardening and flowers were some of her favorite things so this is what I made to celebrate a life well lived.

I found blue orchids on the internet and made these with watercolor paper, Distress Inks and a die from WaffleFlower.  The bowl was cut from MFT's smallest dome, covered with Glossy Accents,  and the background embossed with Altenew's Organic Linen folder.

I know it's hard to lose a friend, even one you never met in person.  That's the way this crafting community is.  My prayers of comfort to all who knew Lindsey and were touched by her in some way.

Just Us Girls #642 - Photo Week

Sue has an interesting photo to inspire us for Photo Week at Just Us Girls.

The first thing I though of was my Leaf Canopy set from Altnew and used that to make my card.

The leaves were stamped in green on waterecolor paper, clear heat embossed and colored with Distress Inks.  As usual I had trouble with the sentiment but I finally got this one from Hello Beautiful by Altnew to stamp correctly on a scrap of paper and glued it over the offending one.   I found two pieces of coordinating cardstock to add borders.   This one was a struggle but I'm somewhat satisfied.

What inspires you in that photo?  The Design Team and our guest Fran Wing have their ideas for you to see on the blog.

CAS Mix-Up July 2022

The CAS challenges are back after a brief hiatus and I'm so glad.  I really missed them. Today's card is for CAS Mix-Up - Things with Wings and it's a watercolor challenge.

I remembered I brought with me some hot foiled butterflies that I did while visiting Bonnie this winter.  To make the background, I used a stencil from MFT and Distress Inks to make an impressionistic garden scene.   The sentiment from Hero Arts is gold heat embossed.

Thanks for dropping by.  I'm off to help lay vinyl plank floors.

The Flower Challenge #67

April's prompt at The Flower Challenge is Add a Heart.

In my resolve to use older stamps, I pulled out one from SSS that I have hardly used since purchasing six years or so ago.

It's actually a bouquet of flowers in the shape of a heart.  I heat embossed the image in silver and watercolored with the new Salt Water Taffy DI.  I wasn't sure the heart shape was apparent enough so I added a tiny one at the base of the image and cut around it all with a braided circle from PFS. The heat embossed sentiment from  is from Hero Arts and the card base is Berry Sorbet from PTI.

To show our support for the people of Ukraine, Viv made us all watermarks featuring their national flower and the colors of their flag.  We will be using these for the duration of the war.

Esther Asbury is our guest designer this month.  She and the Design Team have some wonderfully creative cards to inspire you to make a card for the challenge.  We hope to see you there.

Just Us Girls #622 - Word Week

The first week of the month means Word Week at Just Us Girls and for the first week of March our host Elizabeth has chosen this.

I knew I had an ancient die from PTI that I could use for the sentiment so went looking for an image to go with it.

I chose Hello Lovely from Concord and 9th, heat embossed in clear and colored with Altenew watercolors.  The word die is layered three deep using C9 black foil for the top layer.

JoAnn Burnham is our guest designer for March. She and the rest of the Design Team have a wide range of cards inspired by the word.  How will it/they inspire you?

Inspired By #199

Inspired By has been giving us options for the cards we make for their challenge.  Of course I went with the Tweet Winter challenge featuring a bird.

The background is a smooshing of Speckled Egg and Iced Spruce Distress Inks.  I stamped the berries from Altenew's Winter Florals and watercolored with DI.  The 'chickadee' is my alteration of the Robin and Wren set from The Greetery - not true to life but a fair representation.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope all is well with you.

CAS Mix-Up September 2021

Autumn colors is a perfect theme for CAS Mix-Up and using watercolors is a fun way to show off those colors.

I  gold heat embossed the PTI Botanical Blocks sunflower and colored it with Zigs, adding an  embossed sentiment from Sunny Studios.  Since two of these images fit on one piece of Bristol I did another one.

I used lighter colors for the petals but kept the leaves the same.  I also changed out the sentiment for another one from Sunny Studios.  I have a few people who could use a lift and these cards will hopefully do just that.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love it when you do and even more when you leave a comment.
