Addicted to CAS #285 and Krafty Chicks #773

I was lucky enough to win the Addicted to CAS Floral challenge with this card, and as it is my policy, I made a card for the subsequent challenge - water.  This one was more of a . . .challenge.  😅

Once I knew I could make a scene with Spellbinders Coastal View Escape I tried several versions before I came up with my final card.  The background was inked with Caribbean Sky and placed behind a panel cut with MFT's Wonky Peekaboo die.  The trees and island were cut from cardstock and shaded with Altenew inks.  The sentiment is from Altenew.

I am also sending this to Krafty Chicks for their CAS week challenge.

Thanks for dropping by.  I do hope your day is fabulous!

ETA: I just noticed that AAA Cards is having a CAS challenge.  I'm sending this without the twist.

Time Out #292 - Photo Inspiration

It's time for our Photo Inspiration Challenge at Time Out

The seashells and sentiment are from a Honey Bee set.  The background was colored with Distress Ink and splattered to resemble sand.  The shells are colored with Zigs and also splattered.

We are being sponsored by The Frantic Stamper and our winner will receive a $20 store credit so get those cards made.

The Design Team has plenty of inspiration for you on the blog.  We hope to see your card in our gallery.

I'm also sending my card to Cardz 4 Guyz #374 - Seashells.

ETA:  I just saw the challenge at Double D and I'm sending my card there too.

Color Hues #108

I decided to go clean and simple with my card for Color Hues and add to my sympathy stash.

The side and bottom were taped off and inked with Salvage Patina DI.  The iris from Penny Black was cut from Bristol and colored with Zigs.  The sentiment is from Penny Black, stamped in gray.

Thanks for dropping by.

Just Us Girls #766 - Word Week

I picked the word for Word Week at Just Us Girls and this is it.

I know this looks like a color challenge but you can interpret this any way you choose.  It doesn't have to be all green.  I mean what about a golf theme or maybe money.  Anything you associate with green.  Here's what I did.

A gentleman was selling out of his Penny Black stock at a big discount and I picked up a few oldies from him including the Toadily stamp set.  Using the MFT irregular stencil, I inked the sides with Salty Ocean on Bristol cardstock.  The toad was colored with Zigs and the sentiment from Hero Arts stamped in two shades of Altenew ink.   Although I prefer to think of them as frogs, I'm sure it's because of the pun sentiment included that they are called toads.

Now it's your turn to think about something green.  The Design Team and our guest Jeanne Jachna have inspiration for you over on the blog.  Check them out and make a card for the gallery.  We'd love to see you there.

Freshly Made Sketches #676

One would think I'd be using flowers for the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches but not this time.

I dug out an old set from Penny Black called April Showers.  This card took a couple of turns before I ended up with this.  It started as a one layer card until I didn't like the way I colored the umbrella with my Altenew artist markers.    So I stamped and colored another one planning to place it over the first when I realized there were borders on the sketch.  I cut a panel down, cut some masking paper with Honey Bee's Deckle Edge rectangle, placing the negative on before inking with Stormy Sky DI.  That meant I also had to fussy cut the boots because PB didn't make dies back in the day.  The umbrella was stamped to get the handle, then placed over a PTI cloud.  The sentiment is from Stampendous.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you have a fancy umbrella for rainy days.

Cards 4 Guys #364

I'm not sure if I've ever participated in the Cards 4 Guys challenge but I happened to see that their theme was lighthouse and knew I had just the set to make a card.

The images are from a Spellbinders set I bought a while ago and the lighthouse and rocks were already made and in the folder.  The background was blended with an MFT cloud stencil and Stormy Sky DI.  The sentiment is one from BetterPress.

Thanks for dropping by.

Just Us Girls #759 - Stencil Week

It's Stencil Week at Just Us Girls hosted by Carol M.

I received a surprise Christmas gift from a friend ( Thanks again, Elizabeth) and decided to use it for my card.

The dies and stencil are from PFS, including the cloche.  Or terrarium as I call it.  Everything was stenciled with Altenew inks, except the cloche background which is Speckled Egg Distress Ink, used to give a glassy look.

Stenciling seems to be a growing trend and I predict a large gallery this week.  Will you join us?  There is plenty of inspiration from the Design Team and our guest designer Annette on the blog.

Freshly Made Sketches #666

I hadn't played with Stump, Twig, Breezy and Chilly at all this year so I brought them out for the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

Actually Twig had to stay home since he was too tall for the card.  I wasn't sure how to fit a sentiment on the card until I took a lesson from my daughter who had her grandchildren hold letters for her Christmas card.  Mine are Memory Box cut from silver glitter.  The background was masked, colored with Stormy Sky Distress Ink and splattered.

Thanks for dropping by.

Color Hues #95

Today's card is for the Color Hues challenge - pink and blue.

A Penny Black dealer was retiring and getting rid of his supply so I took advantage of the sale and bought a number of stamps and dies.  My love of birds prompted me to buy Nature Sings which has four different birds on it.  I stamped the bluebird on Bristol and colored it with Zigs.  I masked the bird and made my own stencil to color the background with Kitsch Flamingo Distress Ink.  The branch was free-handed.

Thanks for dropping by.

Just Us Girls #743 - Color Week

I'm the host at Just Us Girls for Color Week and my chosen colors are

The shades can be any color of blue and rust and the gold can also be metallic like I used on my card.

The Dahlias from PTI were cut in rust and inked in the centers with Rusty Hinge Distress Ink. The frame and leaves cut in gold are from SSS.

Our guest designer this month is Nance Salkeld from Soul Stampin' Designs.   She and the Design Team and some great cards to inspire you.  We hope you'll join us for the Color Challenge this week.

Tic Tac Toe #252

Today's card is for Tic Tac Toe.

I used the right column down and I hope just one flower qualifies. ;)

I wanted to use the freebie Bee dies from Sizzix that I got with an order and thought one would look great with the Sunrise Stem from SSS.  Everything was cut from Bristol and colored with Zigs with the exception of the bee's wings which are vellum.  The card looked rather plain so I masked off the edges and inked the center with Squeezed Lemonade.

Thanks for dropping by.  Have a great week!

Freshly Made Sketches #644 and Can You Handle the Pressure?

Would  you believe that I didn't bring any patterned paper with me to the lake?  Kim's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches was perfect for some but I had to go in a different direction.

The panel was masked and inked with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink, using varying pressure to get the stripes.  It was then embossed with the Castaway folder from Spellbinders.  This was made to show off the Lures from Honey Bee, cut from scraps of colored paper, with the hooks cut from black foil cardstock from C9.  I didn't bring my sentiments that go with the lures so that will have to go on later.

Can You Handle the Pressure? has the option of stripes so I'm sending my card to them too, although you don't have to use the option, only an embossing folder.

Thanks for dropping by.

Just Us Girls #732 - Mood Board Week

We're back with Mood Board Week at Just Us Girls and Carol M has this one to inspire our cards.

There's a closer look below or over on the blog post.

The minute I saw the picture in the lower right corner I remembered a stamp set from Concord and 9th called Blooms Fill-in.   When I pulled out the set there was already a panel stamped with just the color I wanted for the background although I'm not sure what it is.  There is a die with the stamp that cuts out extra flowers that I lightly washed with Kitsch Flamingo, using the same ink to stamp the centers.  The sentiment is from Altenew.

You can be inspired by the colors, images, the general feel of the photo or a card made by our Design Team and our guest Jane Taylor.  We hope to see you in the gallery.

Time Out #266 - Photo Challenge

Welcome to the challenge at Time Out.  This week it's a photo inspiration.

I'm glad it says 'inspiration' because I have nothing in the way of stamps that look like the photo.  I was inspired by the color of the sky and clouds.

My 'clouds' are actually dogwood from Honey Bee.  I got the soft background by using my long neglected Clarity brushes with Broken China Distress Ink.  Since I seem to have a heavy hand using regular blending brushes those have come in handy lately. The flowers are done in Altenew Pastel Sunrise and the embossed frame is SSS's Blossom Field.

Lawn Fawn is the sponsor of this challenge and they will award the winner a $25 store credit.  We're being joined by Joyce Mehrberg as the winner of challenge #262.  Please check out what she and the rest of the Design Team have made for your inspiration.

Just Us Girls #692 - Word Week

It's Word Week at Just Us Girls and the word of the week as chosen by Lisa K is

I tried to replicate a hive using a dome die from MFT and a stencil from Funky Fossil.  The dome was cut,  the sentiment stamped and heat embossed after which the panel was embossed with the Subtle background folder.  Two more panels were cut to pop it up over the stencil done in Fossilized Amber DI.  I didn't like how white the lines were so I used what was left on my blending brush to go over it.  The little bees from Reverse Confetti  were heat embossed, colored with artist markers and popped up on the card.

The Design Team has their bee cards just waiting for you to take a look and be inspired.  I hope we see your card in our gallery.
