Color Hues #129 and NBUS #84

My friend Marcia picked the colors for the Color Hues challenge this time.  Purple and Marigold.  So how about some dahlias?

The dies are Into the Blooms: Dahlia from PTI cut in C9 Fig and Sunflower.  The background is Waffle Flower's Rhombus Texture Die and Rhombus Die Panel.  The black fern was in the package and it worked so added it and an embossed sentiment from The Ton.  The background dies are new so I'm also sending my card to Darnell's NBUS.

Thanks for dropping by and spending a bit of your day with me.

I'm the host at Just Us Girls for Color Week and my chosen colors are

The shades can be any color of blue and rust and the gold can also be metallic like I used on my card.

The Dahlias from PTI were cut in rust and inked in the centers with Rusty Hinge Distress Ink. The frame and leaves cut in gold are from SSS.

Our guest designer this month is Nance Salkeld from Soul Stampin' Designs.   She and the Design Team and some great cards to inspire you.  We hope you'll join us for the Color Challenge this week.

Freshly Made Sketches #629

Hey there crafty friends.  Thanks for dropping by.

Today's card is for Freshly Made Sketches.

I started with Altenew's Dazzling Dahlia, stenciled in the Martian Terrain inks, because I thought the shape imitated that in Amy's sketch.  Then it was decision time about how to finish it off.  I found the DSP from a Honey Bee pack, cut it with an MFT scallop and popped it up over a panel embossed with the Subtle Texture folder.  The sentiment is also from Honey Bee.

I had fun trying a few new techniques over the weekend and I'll be posting some of them shortly.

The Flower Challenge #85

The Flower Challenge is celebrating its 7th birthday with an "Anything Goes"  challenge.  Anything as long as flowers are your focal point that is.

As we announced in August, we have a new administrator in Karren Johnson as Aileen and Viv will be leaving us after this challenge.  There has also been a shake up in the Design Team members.  Kara and TaeEun have left us.  New members are Cindy Beach, Laurie Unger and Judy Rozema.  Marcia Hill will be joining in November and Vicky Hayes in January.    I'm looking forward to working with all these wonderful designers.

Now for my card.

The flowers and leaves are from PTI - Into the Blooms: Dahlia.  They are cut from a Honey Bee paper pack with a little inking on the ferns.  I thought this Honey Bee sentiment worked well with the colorful Dahlias.

I hope you will help us celebrate our birthday and our new team members by make a card for the challenge.

Tic Tac Toe #180 and NBUS #42

My prayers go out to all those affected by Hurricane Ian.  My brother who lives in St. Pete faired well.  I haven't heard from DT members or a classmate who all live on the west coast.  Others I know have winter homes there and it may be a while before they know the extent of the damage if any.  It is heart breaking so see the devastation that Mother Nature can cause but so uplifting to see first responders, line workers and volunteers from around the country come together to be of assistance.

I'm playing along with Tic Tac Toe today.

I went with the top row across - stencil, jewel colors, flowers.  I recently got the Altenew set of Jewel Tones so they were the perfect inks to use on the Dazzling Dahlia set.   The background is a new cover die from Concord and 9th and the sentiment is from Altenew's One-go Birthday.

Since my ink and cover die are NBUS I'm sending my card over there too.

Color Throwdown #708

When you have the right die cut and can make the right colors you just have to make a card for Color Throwdown.

The dahlia die is from PTI and I used different Distress Inks to change the hues of colored paper.  It started when I didn't have any dark purple so I used Aged Mahogany on bright pink paper.  I went on to add Kitsch Flamingo to pink and Abandoned Coral to a lighter pink.  Rustic Wilderness was addded to the ferns for shading.  The Subtle embossing runs horizontally in the background.

I'm so glad you dropped by.  I love it when you leave a comment too.

Color Throwdown #707

I went looking for images that used the colors at Color Throwdown to get some ideas for a card.  I love to make flowers and saw one that inspired this card.

I stamped the Dazzling Dahlias from Altenew and colored them with the available stencil in Peacock Feathers and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks.  The centers are Honey Drizzle from Altenew.  To bring out that color, I cut a frame using the Hero Arts nesting rounded rectangles. The sentiment is from The Ton.

Color Hues #42

Yellow and black bring to mind bees, butterflies and school colors.  I didn't do any of those for my card for Color Hues.  If you know me you probably guessed what I would do.

My friend Marcia enabled me to buy the PTI Into the Blooms: Dahlia. 😁 I loved it for the ferns but didn't even use that die on my card.  The flower was cut from yellow and inked with Mustard Seed DI in the center.  The leaves are sparkly black paper from DCWV.  I added a sentiment from Altenew and put it all on some PTI polka dot paper.

I have my craft area somewhat organized here at the lake so you should be seeing me around a little more.  I sure do appreciate it when you drop by.  It encourages me to get in there and make some cards.

Less is More #415

I think the colors at Less is More are perfect for any kind of floral image.  I chose a Dahlia from Altenew for mine.
The leaves look rather green here but I used Evening Gray and Moon Rock from Altenew along with Pinkalicious and Ruby Red for the blossom.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set and appropriate for the times so that's my message to you today.

CAS(E) This Sketch #316

Card making has been rather slow around here since I got back from vacation.  I spent the first day watching my granddaughter's robotics competition and after that it was just one thing after another.
Yesterday I finally took time to make a card for CAS(E) This Sketch.
After seven attempts to align the layers on the Altenew Dahlia, I gave up and broke out the Zigs and watercolored it.  The corner is embossed with a TH die and a circle of vellum is stamped with a curved and embossed sentiment from SSS.

I'm looking forward to getting more cards made.  I have a feeling I'm going to need a few.

Thanks for dropping by.
