STS #12 and OCC

I have been having fun trying out the techniques from the online card class.

With this card, I cut a stencil from acetate with my Cricut.  The technique was to stamp through the stencil which I did on the "leaves".  I'm not sure there is actually a flower in this image but I used Distress Inks to color it that way.

This technique was to use a stencil and then move it to make a secondary design.  My order from JoAnn's came yesterday with this Heidi Swapp stencil so I could try it out.  It's not exactly what I thought it would look like and I need to use a lighter hand when inking but I love the technique.  The "hello"  and sentiment are from PTI.

I also have a card for the Seize the Sketch challenge.

Nothing like calling the sketch up on the screen to realize you left off something.  That large element.  Oh, well.  It wouldn't have fit with my card idea and at least I have one more valentine done.

See what I mean?  The little flag where the large element should go has the sentiment on it (already printed on the paper) and I glossed the heart to make it stand out.

Happy Birthday, Bev

Today is the birthday of  blog friend, Bev, over at Happy Dance.  I've been following Bev for a while and although I don't know her well, she is always great with positive comments, interesting posts and wonderful cards.  And who wouldn't love someone who ends their posts with "happy dancing everyone" or something similar.  I do love to happy dance.  (It reminds me of when my DIL was potty training my granddaughter and we would always do a happy dance when she went.)  But I digress.  On to my card for Bev.

I think a birthday should be a banner day and here they are in all their glory.  They're flapping in the breeze and saying "Have a wonderful birthday!"   I hope today is filled with many happy dances for you, Bev. Today and for many years to come.  Happy Birthday!

MCS #105

It's been a while since I entered a challenge at My Craft Spot.  It was one of the first challenges I did and I love Kimberly's stamps and dies.  I got on the CAS bandwagon and have been doing more of that kind of challenge but this week they are featuring "Sew Fun" and I couldn't resist joining in.  I still made it rather Clean and Simple.

Using My Craft Spot's Tiny Banners and Toppers set, I cut 5 banners from a 6 x 6 pack of Pebbles paper. I laid out where I wanted the banners to go and drew a light line.  I adjusted the tension on my trusty sewing machine and away I went.  I could have sewn through the banners but they are so small I was afraid they would shift on me.  This way I had enough paper to pop the ends of the banners on foam tape so they look like they are blowing in the wind.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
