CASology #232

Sometimes a cue word can spark lots of ideas and sometimes not.  For the "Cut" cue at CASology all I could thing of was using a die cut and since I will be needed some masculine birthday cards soon I went with one I haven't used in a long time.
This little 'happy' banner from PTI was cut from paper from my stash that just happened to have a coordinating color on the back that I used to inlay the letters.  The birthday stamp is from HLS and is actually the color of the lighter burgundy-ish spots - not pink at all.

This weekend flew by way too fast and I didn't accomplish nearly as much as I wanted to.  Too many challenges - not enough time.  And I need time for more of those masculine cards and I'm now in need of two more sympathy cards.  Looks like I'll be busy this week.

Thanks for dropping by. I love reading your comments.

CASology #147

The wedding card for the CASology challenge had to be extra special since it's for my grandson who is getting married on June 6.

When I visited Michele of I Card Everyone, she gave me this piece of embossed pink paper.  It's the perfect background for my card.  I used the roses from W & W, embossing them on vellum in white.  I thought they were a little too transparent so I rubbed my PTI Fresh Snow on the back of the vellum and let it dry before die cutting.  I inked up a piece of watercolor paper with some Shabby Shutters Distress Ink for a pale green for the stems, which were just sliced off with my paper trimmer.  The banner and sentiment words are also from W & W and are embossed in silver.  You can see the difference between the vellum, one painted and one not.  I tucked in a couple of leaves but thought it still didn't look quite finished so I added the bow,.  I don't usually do bows on cards but in this case it was the finishing touch.

Thanks for stopping by.  Your visits and comments are truly appreciated.

MM #101 and MIM #157

Hi, all!
I don't know why Ms. Mojo is so moody but she's been on a roll the last couple of days so I have two cards to show you tonight. The first is for Merry Monday.  I love being able to get some of my Christmas cards done although I sure don't need as many as some of you do.  I may be able to skip some if old Ms M doesn't come through. The challenge is to use only gray, red and white.

The photo makes it look like there's a kraft border around the card but that just the background.  I used CASual Fri-Dies to cut the branches in dark gray, adding some berries (?) with white enamel accents.  I keep thinking it needs something else but I don't know what.  It sat on my desk for a couple of days until something hit me, but nothing did.

The next card I'm a little more satisfied with.  It's for Capture the Moment's Make it Monday - DIY Cover Plate.

I left the Building Blocks dies in sets of two and lined them up diagonally across the card.  A piece of patterned paper that had a wash of color looked great behind the openings that are stamped with a phrase from the set.  To emphasis the "sparkle" I embossed the word with sparkle powder and added a few sequins - a first for me.  Yes, you heard me.  I was a sequin virgin.  I'm still not totally into this trend but they worked great on this card.

Thanks for stopping by.  I'll have a couple more cards tomorrow so please come back.

Fusion #2

One of the questions on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" today was something about having a messy desk and being creative.  Maybe that's why I've been getting so many cards done lately.  I can barely see the top of my desk.  I have products that I ordered ready to put in DVD cases and label, a stencil I'm trying to make for the Online Stencil Class, stamps I recently used that I haven't put back in their place and Cricut cuts I want to use on a couple of cards.  If that's what it takes to be creative, maybe I'll leave it that way. Maybe not.  It drives me crazy.  So therein lies the dilemma. Creative or Crazy?

Today's card is for Fusion.  Sorry I didn't fuse, I just used the photo for inspiration.

Paper: DCWV Textures and Finishes, scraps
Flowers:  Cricut Live Simply
Banner and sentiment: My Craft Spot
Other: MS branch punch, grey brads,  black  and white embossing powders

Thanks for stopping by.  I truly appreciate the comments you leave.

Tuesday Trigger

I have to post this quick since the deadline for Moxie Fab's Tuesday Trigger is in two hours.  I had an inkling of what I wanted to do when I first saw the trigger but waited until late this afternoon to put it into motion and finished it a few minutes ago.

I was inspired by the way each color seemed to be transparent stripes.

I used PTI's Basic Background:Stripes and stamped Distress Inks on vellum.  I cut them into strips and adhered them to white cardstock, trimming the base to the edge of the finished strips.  The sentiment is from My Craft Spot, stamped in Salty Ocean Distress Ink, on a hand-cut banner.  The finished card is 5.5 by 5.5.  I didn't have sunshine to photograph by so the card looks a little dark.  It looks much better IRL.

Thanks for stopping by.  I love reading your comments so please leave one.

Retro Sketches #81

Quick post for Retro Sketches

This is my kind of card.  The paper is from a variety of pads, the sentiment from Hero Arts and the stamp die and stamp from My Craft Spot.  I inked everything with Walnut Distress Ink.

Thanks for stopping by and may the bits and pieces of your life fall into place.
