Just Us Girls #644 - Word Week

It's Word Week at Just Us Girls and Vicki has chosen one that should bring in a lot of cards to the gallery.

I mean almost everyone has a butterfly stamp or die or two.  I say die because that's what I used.

It's an oldie but a goodie from PTI.  The under part of the butterfly is Distress Mica Spray and the detailed portion is pearl vellum.  Glueing down just the body gave it a slightly darker color.  Lots of shine on this baby.  To add a little texture and the idea of flight, I used a Concord and 9th cover plate. The simple sentiment is from HLS.

Let's go see what the Design Team and our guest Cathy Roffey have made with these lovely winged creatures.  If you enter a card, you could be one of our future guests.

Just Us Girls #520 - Photo Week

What a lovely photo Vicki has chosen
for this week's challenge at Just Us Girls.
Butterflies always make a nice card and while I have a few different butterfly stamps I went with the one that looks most like the Monarchs that Michele blooms every year.
The background is Altenew Spicy Yogurt cardstock stamped with their Wildflower Garden in Sand Dunes ink.  The largest butterfly is from Happy Little Stampers and the smaller two from Catherine Pooler. I colored them with Inktense pencils although the small one was first stamped directly on the card with Maple Yellow.  I added the black outline with my Micro pen.  It seems I'm in need of sympathy cards lately so I chose a sentiment from PTI.

The Design Team would love to see your photo inspired cards in our gallery.  Check them out for inspiration and enter the challenge for a chance to be Chic of the Week and a guest designer.

A Tribute to Melissa

I was shocked when I heard the news about the passing of Melissa Lane.  I didn't really know her, only through comments we made on each other's work.  It seems that's all it takes to make friends in this wonderful crafting community.  I did enjoy a peek at her craft room when she was chosen Stamp and Storage's Studio Showcase Winner last December.

Melissa was a member of the Stamplorations Design Team and Shery is giving us the opportunity to pay tribute to Melissa with a card in celebration of her life.  You can tell by her work that she was a nature lover and especially fond of butterflies.  I thought she would like these brightly colored ones.
My prayers are with her family as they search for comfort and peace during this difficult time.

Time Out #96 - Reminder

We're CASEing Michele from I Card Everyone for the Time Out #96 challenge and as a guest designer I've made a second card as a reminder to join us.

This is Michele's card to CASE:
For my card, I used a stamp from Happy Little Stampers who are sponsoring this challenge.

I stamped in black and clear heat embossed the butterflies on Dove Gray and colored them with Inktense pencils.  The SSS prayers die was layered three times, adding the stamped panel portion on top.  For sparkle I added some silver Nuvo drops.

We hope you'll join us for this challenge.

CAS Watercolor July

I always have the best of intentions with the monthly challenges and somehow time gets away from me and I only end up making one card when I could be doing more.  I did get one done for the CAS Watercolor Challenge.

I stamped the butterfly from Gina K that was in a CP Stamp of Approval kit and picked five blue Distress Inks to color them.  The sentiment is from PB.

Getting ready to head off to the lake again.  Next year I'm getting Wifi up there. ;)

The Card Concept #73

I almost didn't post this card.  I made it last minute for The Card Concept and am not very happy with it.
This looks a lot better in real life.  I had a difficult time editing it.  I used some old, old  DSP, over stamping the top panel with a script from PB, butterflies from HLS and CP and a sentiment from HA..  Here's the inspiration photo.

Thanks for dropping by.

Curtain Call - Flutter

It must be butterfly season as I'm seeing them all over blogland.  My card is for the challenge at Curtain Call.
The butterflies from HLS are heat embossed in white and then the background smooshed with Distress Oxides.  To balance the black sentiment from PTI, I edged two sides of the panel with black cs.

Thanks for dropping by.  Enjoy your day.
