Gift Card

I sometimes make cards that represent a gift that has already been given or that can't be wrapped.  It may include a little poem telling the recipient what the card is for.  The card below is just such a card.  I took it at Christmas time and for some reason my camera decided that everything was going to come out blurry so it's my picture taking, not your eyes.

When we cleaned out my parents' garage last August, there was a small table saw that my son-in-law wanted.  They gave it to him then but wanted to let him know that it was his Christmas present.  I made this card using Handyman for the saw and Christmas Cheer for the wreath.   I don't think I saved a copy of the poem but I need to start doing that, just for my own records.  Again, my apologies for the quality of the phot.

Peppermint Wishes

We've have an extremely mild winter so far (knock on wood) but even so there's nothing like a warm mug of hot chocolate to relax with in any weather.  That brings me to the theme of the challenge this week on Fantabulous Cricut.  They have asked for   "a cup, or chocolate, or the color brown".  I made just such a card for my mother to give my daughter-in-law for Christmas but never took a picture of it.  Now I've recreated it with a twist - a peppermint twist.

The mug and candy cane are from Christmas Cheer and the printed paper from a stack I'm loving called Lost and Found by My Mind's Eye.  The mug is from a texture and finish stack by DCWV.  It looks to me like an earthernware mug, which is why I used it.  On the earlier card, it represented the kiln that my mother gave to my DIL.  There is no kiln cut on any of my carts (or probably on any cart, lol) so I made a mug that looked like one that had been thrown and then glazed and fired.  The candy cane is from scraps and the whole image is popped up on foam.  This isn't a very good picture although it does let you see the shadows made by the pop-up.

I'm trying to get my Valentines made before we leave this Friday.  I just hope some of them will qualify for a challenge or two.  If not, I'll post them anyway, along with other bits and pieces of my life beyond cards.
