Gift Card

I sometimes make cards that represent a gift that has already been given or that can't be wrapped.  It may include a little poem telling the recipient what the card is for.  The card below is just such a card.  I took it at Christmas time and for some reason my camera decided that everything was going to come out blurry so it's my picture taking, not your eyes.

When we cleaned out my parents' garage last August, there was a small table saw that my son-in-law wanted.  They gave it to him then but wanted to let him know that it was his Christmas present.  I made this card using Handyman for the saw and Christmas Cheer for the wreath.   I don't think I saved a copy of the poem but I need to start doing that, just for my own records.  Again, my apologies for the quality of the phot.

Paint the town red

I got the Handyman cartridge in June because I have a lot of mission work projects to scrap.  I decided that it would also make nice masculine birthday cards.  This is the one I made for my adult grandson.

The card is 5 x 7 from a purchased set of plain white cards and envelopes.  I printed the sentiment on the bottom and left it as a white border.  There was a paper in the DCWV Picture Stack that was part of a dark sky which became the background.  The skyline is from Plantin cut in red and black.  Both are cut the same size and then offset when glued down.  The paint brush is from Handyman using kraft paper for the layer that shows as the handle and bristles.  The inside sentiment "Paint the town red" is written in Wet Paint font in red which really put the final touch on the card.  I should have taken a picture of it but alas, it's gone now.

New Carts

I was a little naughty last week and bought 4 new cartridges.  It's not like a have a lot of them now, only 16.  And a couple of these I had a specific use for.  Two came from WalMart.  I wanted the Handyman cart for all the construction projects I need to scrap and saw Twinkle Toes on sale while I was there.  Perfect for my ballet dancer granddaughter. 

I ordered Simply Charmed from JoAnn Fabrics a while ago when they had a sale but it was out of stock.  Not to worry.  I bid on it and Happy Hauntings on eBay and now they're mine, too.  That will be it for a while.  I just have to get busy and make cards with them.

The first one I used was Handyman. 

The drill was cut at 4" from red, black and silver paper.  The background is a wood-look piece from DCWV textures and finishes stack.  The sentiment is printed on the computer and then ink stained and attached with nail colored brads.  The sentiment continues inside with "wish you the happiest of birthdays."
