Time Out #314

It's an Inspired by Challenge at Time Out.

That's right.  Make a card using your favorite beverage.  Or any beverage that you have stamps/dies for.  I got a little inventive with mine.

I actually mostly drink water but a good old Arnold Palmer quenches the thirst once in a while so I thought it would be fun to go with that beverage and make it into an anniversary card.  The glasses and ice cubes are from Your Next Stamp's Cup of Cheer and the lemons from Newton's Nook Cocktail Mixer.  They were stamped on Bristol and colored with Zigs.  I added the math signs by hand.  The sentiment was computer generated and the panel cut with a SSS Stitched Rectangle before adding to some patterned paper from my stash. 

The winner of this challenge will receive a beverage bag made and donated by team member Carol McFarland.

Inspired By #172

I don't really need a retirement card.  At my age everyone I know is already retired.  But I still made a card for Inspired By.

I started with a piece of Bristol and stamped nearly all the sentiments from STAMPlorations Beach Vibes in light gray.  After inking with Distress Inks, I took a cue from the charms and added the Paper Smooches flip-flops, MFT glasses and greenery, all cut from scraps.

I have a number of other beach and summery cards that I plan to send to my homebound people in July.  I hope they get a kick out of them and that they will bring back happy memories.

 

Addicted to CAS #168

The code word, chosen by Raga, is open to interpretation.  

This is the next challenge at Addicted to CAS.

I had to think about this for a while 

since my stamps don't really go in that direction. 

All of a sudden a light bulb went on and this is what I came up with.

These glasses used to be the style back in the day but I think they're coming back.  I used an MFT die, layering it up with acetate in between.  A couple of 'diamonds' decorate the corners.  The sentiment was even harder than coming up with an image but this one from Altenew happened to by laying on my desk and seemed to fit the bill.

CAS(E) This Sketch #237

It took a while to find something to do for this unusual sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch.  Not quite as easy as the week before.

Then it hit me!

I cut the MFT glasses from some blue shimmer paper although it doesn't show up well in the photo.  For the lenses, I cut again in vellum that I colored with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink.  The sentiment was computer generated.

CASology #233

It took me a while to think of something for CASology's "glisten" challenge but then I remembered some holograph paper I had and voila' a card came to mind. Aviator glasses.

The sun always glistens off of them. Maybe not quite like it looks in the photo but it's difficult to take a picture of just the silver.  The sentiment is from PB stamped in Surf Blue because I thought that was a cool color in more ways than one. ;)  This is a birthday card for my husband's grandson.

Just Us Girls #350

It's Word Week at Just Us Girls and Maria has chosen an appropriate word.

That's right. Summer.  This leaves it wide open for your interpretation.  I don't have any specific summer stamps so I had to get creative.

I considered using the glasses from MFT but couldn't decide on a good way to display them until I thought of the word 'shades'.  Then the whole card took shape.  I inked up the background with Distress Ink and tore a piece of Neenah Desert Storm for the sand.  The sentiment uses Altenew's Calligraphy and W & W's Big Bold Fun.  The umbrella is another MFT die with my own added pole and the glasses have vellum colored with Zigs for the lenses.  I don't know who'd I ever send this to but it was fun making it.

Summer Coffee Lover's Blog Hop

Even a non-coffee drinker who rarely drinks tea can enter the Summer Coffee Lover's Blog Hop.  Arnold Palmer, anyone?

The glasses are from Your Next Stamp colored with Zigs and the sentiment is from Uniko.  Some SSS stitched rectangles cut out the panels of bristol board and patterned paper.  If you look closely you can see the condensation on the glasses made with my Pico Embellisher.  It also makes the ice cubes shine.
