The Paper Players #742 and Color Throwdown #835

As I was working on a card for The Paper Players (Fresh and Fruity) I noticed that the same card would work for Color Throwdown with a little background change.

The lemons are from Lawn Fawn, cut from cardstock and shaded with Altenew Inks.  The panels are Pinkfresh Studio's Dotted Fancy Frames, one cut in turquoise for the color challenge,  and the sentiment is from Altenew's Weekend Doodles.

Color HUes #66

Color Hues has a combination that is perfect for flowers (yellow and green) and I knew just the ones.

The Daisies from Altenew.  It is an embossing folder that comes with a stencil that I colored with Altenew inks.   The sentiment is from their One-Go Birthday set.

While I had my folder out I decided to use it a different way.

This one was colored with Zigs including the background after which I ran it through the folder again.  The sentiment is also from Altenew, heat embossed in Platinum.

Thanks for dropping by.

Color Throwdown #747

I was lucky enough to win Color Throwdown #745 with this card.

And because I was the featured stamper, they asked me to be a guest designer for challenge #747.

I didn't see the winner's post until late so I had to quickly make a card in time for the deadline.  After several failed attempts I found success.

Altenew's Weekend Doodles to the rescue.  I stamped the flowers, colored them with Altenew artist markers and added a sentiment from the same set.  The panel was cut with MFT's Wonky Stitched Rectangles, which I thought fit the wonky flowers, and mounted on yellow cardstock.

How would you use these colors?  The design team at Color Throwdown would love to see your card in the gallery.

Altenew Inspiration Challenge June 2023

Before I post a card for this month's challenge I have to say Thank You to Altenew for choosing my card as one of the winners of the May challenge.  You can see that card here

This month Deepa has a gorgeous photo of petunias for the Altenew Inspiration Challenge

I do have several Altenew stamps that would work for a card but they aren't with me here at the lake so I did this.

I recently got their Hanging Garden Layered Dies and used cardstock from my stash to make the flowers and leaves in the requisite colors.  The sentiment is from their Weekend Doodles set.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love reading your comments.

The Flower Challenge #79 - Reminder

There is still time for you to make a card for The Flower Challenge with your background stamping.

The Design Team has more inspiration for you on the blog.  Here's mine.

Soft Stone cardstock was inked with the MFT Free Form stencil mask and stamped with a script background stamp from Penny Black. The poppy is from HoneyBee's Wildflowers and the sentiment is from Altenew's Weekend Doodles.

We hope you'll make a card for our gallery.

Color Hues #59 and Double D - Green

After a long day of cardmaking at the Altenew Mindfulness Retreat on Saturday my mojo has been slow to rebound.  Fortunately I had a panel in my B&P box that works for both the Color Hues challenge of green and gold, and the Double D challenge of Everything's Coming Up Green.

This was an alcohol ink panel I did a while ago and was just waiting for the right time and challenge(s).  All I did was cut a gold frame using WF nested A2 rectangles and add a gold embossed sentiment on a vellum banner.

Thanks for dropping by.

Altenew April, Color Hues and Fusion

I've made quite a few cards lately (when the inspiration strikes you have to go with it) and rather than do one post a day and take the chance on missing a deadline, I'm posting three cards today all using Altenew stamps.

First up is my card for the Altenew Monthly Challenge.

I colored Weekend Doodles with Zigs, added the sentiment from the same set, and layered it all up with the Deckled Dies from Honey Bee.  You can see the inspiration photo below.

My next card is for Color Hues using the Pantone colors of the year - yellow and gray.
I stamped four of the Fabulous Florets in gray on my card base with the layers in several shades of yellow.  The larger flower was die cut and popped up over the others. Although it looks black, the heat embossed sentiment is on a strip of gray.  (I must give credit for this design to Altenew as it was suggested in their layering guide.)

My last card uses the Poppy Craft-a-Flower and it will be going to the Fusion Challenge.
To fit everything on a card I needed to make a mini slimline.  I used a Honey Bee stencil for the shiplap background, inking every other line, and then coloring in below the bottom line with Distress Ink.  The pitcher from The Greetery and the poppies are all cut from paper with a chalky finish that my daughter had and used for an art project.  They look a lot like large paint chips and work great for all the Craft-a-Flower dies.

That's it for me today.  I'm sure I'll be back tomorrow with more of my creations.  See you then!

Addicted to CAS #186

This week's code word at Addicted to CAS was chosen by Stephanie.  Appropriate for this time of year I do think.
I used my PTI Summer Berry set and ended up with blackberries?
I don't know why I used these colors but they looked good together and so I have blackberries that almost look like grapes.  I put them on a LF stitched rectangle with a sentiment from SSS.

We can't wait to see what berries you use for your ATCAS card.  You are going to make one, right?

Time Out #159 and The Paper Players #486

I have lots of flower stamps so I knew I would go with the garden portion of the Time Out "words to inspire".  I incorporated the color challenge from The Paper Players to make this card.
I decided it's about time to use some of my patterned paper and this one fit the bill perfectly.  I stamped the flower and leaves from Altenew's Grateful Heart and added a sentiment from their Weekend Doodles set.

It's been a wild day weatherwise.  We actually had snow.  Not enough to stay on the ground but it came down pretty heavily for a while.  It made me want to stay in and craft. ;)

Thanks for dropping by.

CAS(E) This Sketch #361

The spotlight technique was right in order for CAS(E) This Sketch.
After stamping Altenew's Weekend Doodles, I cut the circle, masked the flowers on the background and watercolored it.  Then I watercolored the flowers on the circle and popped it up on foam.

Thanks for dropping by.  I'm sending you happy thoughts.

Just Us Girls #505 - Trend Week

Angie is our host for Trend Week at Just Us Girls.  Her chosen trend is
I knew right away what I was going to do.  It's something that I did in an earlier challenge here -  just changed up a little.
First I colored some Bristol with Abandoned Coral Distress Ink, starting with straight to paper and then watercoloring it out to a lighter shade.  I placed the parts from Altenew's Garden Picks 3-D dies on the dried paper to get the various colors on the layers.  The leaves are from Gina K Moonlight Fog and what might be Midnight Green from SSS.  The background was glitter embossed with a stamp from The Stamp Market, barely visible which is what I wanted.

What stacking dies do you have in your stash?  We'd love for you to pull them out and make a card for our challenge.  Before you do, why not check and see what the Design Team and our guest designer Janet Ribet have for your inspiration on the blog.

The Flower Challenge #34

I've been encouraged by all the wonderful entries into The Flower Challenge.  It's time for another one and this one features

I've seen some gorgeous irises blooming lately
so I thought I'd put some on my card.
The stamp is from Altenew and I colored them with Distress Inks.  It took  me longer to arrange them than to color them.  I also added some color to the background and a sentiment from another Altenew set.

The Design Team  and our guest designer Michelle Lupton have some wonderful pastel cards to inspire you.  And if that's not enough, we have Uniko as our sponsor this month. Bev will award the winner any stamp set in stock.

Will we see your lovely pastels in our gallery?  I hope so.

AAA Cards #143

My card for AAA Cards caused me to do some coloring for the 30 day color challenge.  It's not that I don't color often but it's usually for a design team and I can't post those to IG unless I just do a sneak peek like Kathy suggested.  I did post this yesterday and now I'm showing the entire card.
I used my PolyChromos to color the Altenew flowers on my very last piece of PTI's Ocean Tide.

Thanks for dropping by.  I'm sending you all happy thoughts.

CAS(E) This Sketch #285

It's been a while but I finally had time to make a card for this week's CAS(E) This Sketch.  Luckily my inspiration didn't desert me while I was having fun doing other things.  Here's the sketch I worked from.
Sweet Deepti of Dee's Art Utopia sent me one of her stamps that had been out of stock at Stamplorations forever.   I had to use it as soon as it arrived.
Using WPlus9 Cashmere as my card base I laid out the different rectangles, gray, white and vellum.  Placing the stamp in my MISTI allowed me to stamp on each layer individually, keeping it all aligned. The flowers on white are colored with Distress Ink and for the vellum I used matching Zigs.

It felt good to get back into the card making mode and although there are a few things coming up that may slow me down, I'm anxious to get back into the rhythm.  Speaking of slowing down, I am way behind on commenting on your blog posts.  I had over 500 at one time and have whittled it down to 300 but there are still a number of you who haven't had a comment in a long time.  While I might not comment on every card you made during that time (some of you are very prolific) I promise to stop in and do a bulk comment until I clear my inbox.

Thanks for dropping by.  I appreciate it when you do.
