Time Out #263

Did you know that there was an Alphabet Magnet Day?  Well there is and it's today.  That is also the theme for the Time Out challenge.

This one started out a little difficult for me.  Since our sponsor is Altenew and I have so many of their stamps I wanted to use one.  But how do I work the occasion into it?  I think I came up with a decent idea.

I stamped flowers from Altenew's Hello Sunshine, colored them with artist markers and cut them into circles to represent refrigerator magnets.  Then I cut letters from MFT, stacked them three high and covered them with Pico Embellishment to give them a shine.  They're not as large as the genuine Alphabet magnets but those wouldn't fit anyway.  You can obviously see the major sentiment but can you find two other words using the letters?   The flowers were popped up and everything placed on my stainless steel refrigerator door. 😉

Altenew is giving our winner a $15 store credit.  There is plenty of wonderful inspiration from the Design Team on the blog.  Take a look and make a card for our gallery for your chance to win.

Just Us Girls #671 - Photo Week

Elizabeth has a very Spring-like moodboard this week at Just Us Girls.

The bottom left image reminded me of a card I saw on Pinterest.  Unfortunately the link went to an entirely different card so I can't give credit to the card maker but I'm thankful for the idea.

I picked out five different shades of green, cutting strips and Memory Box letters from them.  After glueing them all down, I added Pico Embellishment to each letter.  When they were dry I added the stamped portion of the sentiment from Hero Arts in dark green.

With so many parts of the moodboard to choose from, you should be able to make a card for this week's challenge.  Need inspiration?  The Design Team and our guest designer Michele Ferguson are glad to provide you with some.  Please follow the link to the blog to see their cards.

Fusion - 4th Anniversary, Little Red Wagon #428 and Seize the Birthday

It's about the elements at the Fusion challenge and I did a true fusion this time.
Patterned paper for the wood, copper heat embossing on the letters and strip bring a masculine birthday card to life.

It's Boy Oh Boy at Little Red Wagon so this card is going to them and to Seize the Birthday where the theme is Anything Goes.

Thanks for dropping by.

The Card Concept #63

I recently got this PB stamp that I thought was perfect for the challenge at The Card Concept.

Jill Foster has some terrific videos over at Penny Black and I tried to emulate her in stamping the cones and berries.  It's easy to do with the MISTI but I did find I may need to invest in some different markers.  I tried it first with some old Marvy Markers and the image was okay but I lacked enough colors to do much shading.  For this card I used my Zigs, coloring on the stamp and spritzing the first time, then coloring and stamping again and again until I had what I wanted.  I cut some squares of woodgrain pp and mounted the Memory Box letters after inking around the edges. At the last minute I decided to add some spatters.  Here's their photo.  I think you can see what inspired me.
I have a few other new stamps that I'm anxious to try out.  If the weather forecast holds true, I may be hibernating and crafting my little heart out.

ETA:  I keep forgetting about Kylie's 12 Days of Christmas.  I'm going to send my card over there too.

Less is More #228

I'm struggling to get some cards made for a variety of challenges.  I was busy all day yesterday but threw this card together last night for the Less is More "Home" themed one layer challenge.  I knew I wanted to use the little houses from Shirley (The Bee's Knees) and Stamplorations.  The biggest hang-up was finding a sentiment.  Take a look

I used my Inktense pencils for the color.  The sentiment is made from Milo's Letters by Lawn Fawn. It only took me 10 tries to get the letters lined up.  It looked so easy when I saw one of the teachers in an online card class do it.  I'm just going to call this a practice session.
