Just Us Girls #764 - Stencil Week

Sue is the host for Stencil Week at Just Us Girls.

So many stencils, so little time.  I was lucky enough to find one already done in the package just waiting for the right challenge.

The image from PFS is called "The Best of Everything Floral" colored with Altenew inks.  To finish it off, I cut a frame from dark gray, embossed it with a wood  grain folder and layered it over the panel.

I want to thank Stephanie Severin for being our guest this month.  It has been a pleasure seeing all her wonderful creations.  She and the design team have one more card for you to see to inspire you to enter our stencil challenge.  I hope to see you there.

Color Throwdown #531

They have quite the color combination at Color Throwdown this week.

It's not a decorating scheme I would choose although I love the picture on the wall.  The Design Team had some interesting ways to present these colors, a couple of which I thought of, so I had to go a different way.

Except for the PTI sentiment and cardstock, this is an Altenew card.  Their images and inks were used.  The wood pallet background was stamped on gray and then to add more definition to the boards, I ran darker gray ink along a ruler.

Just Us Girls #474 - Trend Week

It's Trend Week at Just Us Girls and the trend that Carol has chosen is:  Wait for it!

Get out those wood background stamps, embossing folders or paper pads and make a card for this week's challenge.  You could even use wood embellishments.  I went the embossing folder route.

I inked up my TH woodgrain folder with HA Wet Cement before sending through my Big Shot.  The images are from Concord and 9th stamped in Altenew Ink.  I've chosen to leave off the sentiment mainly because I didn't know where to put it.😕 This was a set I thought I needed and have only used once.  I'm making it my priority to use some of my neglected stamps instead of buying new ones, although having said that I must confess I have bought a couple of new ones lately. 

The Design Team and our Guest Designer Lisa Elton have been busy on their wood/woodgrain cards and can't wait for you to check them out.  Your card in our gallery may make you Chic of the Week and a chance to be our guest designer in April.

TIME OUT #113

Time Out has a word phrase for our inspiration this week.

I think most people zeroed in on the word "smile" and I was no exception.

I colored old grumpy cat from Gerda Steiner during the 30 day color challenge and just knew I had to make him into a card for this challenge.  The little bird is part of the stamp set but I had to generate the sentiment on my computer.  To make the background I stamped the Altenew woodgrain in DOX on the bottom and watered it down, then stenciled  Distress Ink above it for the wall.  This just cracks me up.

Merry Monday #296

One of my favorite challenges is closing down.  Yes, this is the last hurrah for Merry Monday.  I've played along with them almost every week for as long as I can remember and so I quickly made a card for the final challenge.

Rustic is my thing, at least in decorating, and it used to be in my card making early on.

Thanks to a reminder from Nancy, I brought out an old technique. I embossed some kraft-core cardstock with a woodgrain folder and then sanded it down.  The wreath is from WPlus9, stamped in three colors on green and then heat embossed.  The 'joy' from CPD is cut twice in red and once in gold and stacked.

I'm sad to see you go, Merry Monday.  How will I ever get my Christmas cards done?

The Card Concept #85 and Seize the Birthday

This is my third post today but I need to get this card in before the deadline.  It's for The Card Concept inspired by their photo.

My eyes gravitated to the Queen Anne's Lace which some people consider weeds and other are allergic to. I love the look of them and so PTI's Meadow Greens is one of my favorite stamps.

I combined them with Altenew's Beautiful Day.  The background is some DSP  that I inked with Frayed Burlap DI to tone it down a little.  Here's what it looked like after and before.

I'm always neglecting to send my birthday cards to Seize the Birthday so I'm going to remedy that and send this one to them - without the candles topping.

Off to watch the Super Bowl and maybe do a little knitting while I watch to get a prayer shawl done.  It's been hanging around partially done for too long.

Fusion - 4th Anniversary, Little Red Wagon #428 and Seize the Birthday

It's about the elements at the Fusion challenge and I did a true fusion this time.

Patterned paper for the wood, copper heat embossing on the letters and strip bring a masculine birthday card to life. 

It's Boy Oh Boy at Little Red Wagon so this card is going to them and to Seize the Birthday where the theme is Anything Goes.

Time Out #98

36 minutes left to submit a card to the Time Out gallery.  One that I have had made for over a week now.

It's a combo of MFT and SSS snowflakes cut from glitter paper on patterned paper with an embossed sentiment from PB based on the photo below.

I did a lot of goody making last night to have gifts for the postal carrier, hair stylist and nail tech.  I'll be off delivering them today before I pick up an order at WalMart for some toys for my great-grandkids.  It looks like some bad weather is coming through so I want all my errands done before then.

Time Out #98

I love the photo inspiration at Time Out this challenge.

Rustic is my thing so I started with that.

I ordered the stag stencil from Sarah Gray who just happens to be the guest designer for this challenge.  First I stamped some Desert Storm paper with Altenew's wood pallet, cut it with a die from CPD and inked the stencil with HA Unicorn White.  I had to add in some of the bright color with my sentiment. I have another card for Time Out that I'll post later.

Inspired By All the Little Things #74

I got my first Christmas card in the mail today.  I can always count on my cousin Kathy to get her cards out right after Thanksgiving.  I ordered more envelopes and have enough cards made so I will probably get mine out this week - the earliest ever.  Even so I will keep making cards as long as there are challenges out there.  Today's card is for Inspired By All the Little Things.

I did a little reverse of the photo, making my background blue woodgrain and my star silver with a gold die cut sentiment.

Th Heart Desires #16 and The Cat's Pajamas #339

It sure doesn't seem like Fall with the record high temperatures we've had lately but Fall has descended on the cardmaking world big time.  Case in point - this mood board from The Heart Desires.

And my card inspired by the upper left photo.

A little plaid blanket, grapevine wreath and pumpkin decorate the kraft panel embossed with woodgrain.  The sentiment is embossed in copper.

The Cat's Pajamas is a new challenge for me and they want a Fall or Holiday cards so my card will pay a visit there.

Curtain Call - Frosting

The photo title says 'frosting' but I saw flowers and that is what I did for the challenge at Curtain Call.

I love the peachy colored cupcake on the right in the photo below.  Mine turned out a little darker but Distress Tea Dye was as close as I had to color this PB flower.  The wood panel is from Altenew stamped with Hickory Smoke DI with a water wash over it.  The sentiment is from E by E.

Addicted to CAS #104

Ceal is our host at Addicted to CAS and she has chosen this as your cue word:

Where does the word take you?  I need some masculine cards so I made this:

First I spread ink on my woodgrain embossing folder and ran it through my Big Shot on Neenah Desert Storm several times until I was satisfied with the look, then ran a dark brown pad lightly across it.  I cut a circle from the center with the die that comes with the SSS birthday sentiment. Hint: Be sure to cut the circle AFTER the embossing.  Ask me how I know. ;)  The sentiment is cut from chocolate and layered over another circle of Desert Storm.  Some may think this is not CAS but clean and simple does not mean it has to be white.

CASology #222

The lovely Bev of Happy Dance is a guest designer on CASology this week and I had to make a card.  The cue word is "Welcome" and I thought a while about this until I was making a Christmas card and ran across the word "welcome" in one of my stamp sets.  Not the set I used but they all play so well together.

The wreath from WPlus9 is on a woodgrain embossed panel.  The bow and word are embossed in a gold embossing glitter.

I should have taken a picture of my work surface to show you.  I had so many cards going at once in various stages of completion that it looked like Hurricane Bobby hit.  Now they're done, pictures taken and almost everything put away.  Ready to start over. ;)

Just Us Girls #368

Sue is the hostess for this weeks Just Us Girls and her word for the week is encouragement.

This card could be for anyone going through a rough time and you want to lift them up.  I made my card for my brother Bill who is going through treatment for throat cancer.

I've always liked this stamp set from PIT.  I 'tacked' it onto some cork which is on some woodgrain paper.
