Sketchbook Saturday #122

I hope you are all enjoying your Memorial Day if you celebrate it where you are.  We went to the local parade this morning and it brought back memories of marching in the parade to the cemetery when I was in high school.  They stop at the bridge over the river on the way to shoot off a volley and throw a wreath in to honor those who served in the Navy and Marines. On Thursday, some of the Legionnaires and VFW members with about 50 high school kids placed flags on the grave sites of all who served their country.  What a wonderful way to salute those who fought for our freedoms.  I have to give a shout out to my Dad who served in WWII.  It would have been nice if he had been able to be in the parade as he is one of the oldest veterans in the area.

Now to my card.  I'm entering a new for me challenge - Sketchbook Saturday.

This is the third of five stamps on my new Penny Black set.  I really love to watercolor those flowers.

Thanks for taking the time to come by for a visit.  If you let me know you were here, I'll come visit you.

Stunning poppies, Bobby! They've long been one of my favorite flowers, and this is a gorgeous stamp, which you've used beautifully. Sounds like your town cherishes its veterans. It would be a sight to see the parade members salute the vets on that bridge! Hope you're enjoying your week. Bev

Fabulous card and beautifully colored. I have never seen that challenge, but I will check it out. I just ordered a bunch of Penny Black stamps today, but didn't see those flowers. What is that set called? It's so pretty.

Gorgeous card! The flowers are so striking against the black and white.

How wonderful to be able to see the parade - and to know that so many youth are taking part. It's important to remember.
