The Flower Challenge #105 - Add Embellishments

Where is the summer going?  It's August already and time for another The Flower Challenge.

I'm not a big embellishment user but it was fun finding a die set that I could design using them.

It all began with Altenew's Zero Waste Floral Cover die cut in white and the various flowers and leaves colored with Altenew inks.  I used their enamel dots for the center of the flowers and added a BetterPress sentiment.

Let's go see what the Design Team has for inspiration.  We'd love it if you got out your embellishments and decorated a card for the challenge.

Time Out #293 - Inspired By

This challenge at Time Out is to be inspired by your favorite song.

I'm not sure I have any one favorite song and I had to go with something that I have the stamps/dies for so this is what I came up with.

You can tell the song by the computer generated sentiment.  I stamped the globe from Concord and 9th in the center of my card base and then added the TH Funky Floral Wreath around it.  I had to add a bird and I found just the right size in Honey Bee's Seasonal Frames.

What's your favorite song?  Please don't make us guess what one you used.  Make sure to tell us in your post and have fun with it.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Lawn Fawn, giving the winner a $25 store credit.  For inspiration, check out what the Design Team has made featuring their favorite song.

Time Out #286

It's time for another Pick Two at Time Out

A pick two means you need to take at least two of the words listed in the banner and use them on your card.  I went with spots, floral and pastel.

It all started with a polka dot paper from my stash and the Honey Bee April Showers die set.  I pulled the colors from the dots for my flowers and used a trick I learned from Marcia Hill who learned it from Leslie Miller to use packing tape on your cardstock to get a shiny finish.  That's what I did with the boots.  The sentiment is from Altenew's Weekend Doodles.

Gina K is the sponsor for this challenge and she is offering a $25 store credit.  Let's go see what the Design Team has made to inspire you.  We'd love to see your card in our gallery.

Color Throwdown #818

I was itching to use a die set I purchased on sale from Spellbinders a while ago and made it work for the challenge at Color Throwdown.

This is Simon Hurley's Floral Stag, all die cut in colored cardstock including an orange flower, cranberry poinsettia and moss greens.   Thank goodness for neutrals or this wouldn't work at all.  😉  The sentiment is from PFS.

Thanks for dropping by.  Have a great weekend.

Just Us Girls #739 - Word Week

It's Word Week at Just Us Girls and our host Carol M has chosen

There are so many ways to do a frame on a card.  For me it was hot foiling.

This hot foil plate came with my Glimmer Machine and it's foiled in gold.  One of the hemstitch ovals from Spellbinders was large enough to cut it out and make a shaped card.  PFS Dainty Blossoms were cut in gold and inlaid with white scraps colored with Zigs.

The Design Team and our guest designer Bonnie Klass have plenty of inspiration for you on the blog.  We hope you will make a frame card and enter it into our gallery.

Double D - Basket Full of Posies

With all my posies and a great basket die from PTI I just had to make a card for Double D.

The flowers are from Simon Hurley all cut in scraps of colored cardstock.  The basket was cut from Desert Storm and woven together. I'll add an appropriate sentiment when I'm ready to send the card.

Thanks for dropping by.

Double D - Polka Dots

As a lover of polka dots, I had to make a card for Double D.

I have this bright colored paper and didn't write down whose it was.  I think it was a gift with order.  I love the large polka dots and didn't want to cover them up so I heat embossed EbyE Mondo Sakura on vellum.  The sentiment is from Altenew stamped in purple.

Thanks for dropping by.  Stay safe and keep crafting.

The Flower Challenge #91

May the 4th be with you! 😊

It is the 4th of May and time for the next The Flower Challenge.

This should be a fun one.  You can use any medium to color your flowers so if you need practice with watercolors, Zigs, alcohol markers, or pencils this would be a good time to do it.

I've had this Bouquet Builder image from Waffle Flower stamped and sitting on my desk for a while.  I thought I'd practice with my Altenew artist markers and when it was done I was happy enough with it to make this my card for the challenge.  The panel was cut with Spellbinders notched rectangles and layered on yellow cardstock.  The foiled sentiment is also from Spellbinders.

The Design Team has some wonderful cards to inspire you.  We hope you'll get your favorite coloring medium out and make a card for the challenge.

Just Us Girls #721 - Color Week

It's Color Week at Just Us Girls and Ina has a bright color way for us.

My first thought was Halloween. 😀  But then I remembered the pumpkin die from Honey Bee and that started the ball rolling.  It's basically an all Honey Bee card.

Cut from orange cardstock, I used detail brushes to add more orange to the debossed ribs.   A slit was cut in the top so I could add my die cut flowers,  one from Spring Greenery and two from Autumn Bouquet, cut in white and colored with a variety of inks.  Arranging was the difficult part but once they were all taped inside the pumpkin, they were glued or pop dotted down onto the Burlap embossing folder.

I'd like to welcome Colleen Begley as our guest designer this month.  Colleen and the rest of the Design Team have some wonderfully colorful cards to inspire you.  We hope you'll join us in the gallery.

Time Out #260

Hey there friends.  I'm so glad you dropped by.

Are you ready for another Time Out challenge?  This should be an easy one.

We are being sponsored by Lawn Fawn and the winner of the challenge will receive a $25 store credit.

These flowers were in my Bits box, unpainted. They are from MFT and I stamped them at Bonnie's several years ago.  Since they were on Bristol,  I colored them with Zigs and then glued them onto some striped pattern paper.  EZPZ.

How will you include stripes on your card.  For plenty of wonderful inspiration, please check out what the Design Team has made.

Inkspirational #307

I was lucky enough to have my card be one of the top picks for the last Inkspirational challenge.  You can see that card here.  Today I have one for their newest challenge - use stencils.

The stamp and stencil is from Pinkfresh Studio.  There are six different layers and I used Distress Inks with Altenew mini blending brushes.  The panel was trimmed down, inked around the edges and added to a white card base.  The sentiment is from Honey Bee.

Thanks for dropping by.

Time Out #251

There is a photo challenge at Time Out this week.

I had another idea when I first saw the photo but once I got the stamp set out I changed my mind.

I was going to use the large blooms from The Greetery's Lovely Blossoms but once I looked at the set again I realized I couldn't fit many on the card.  But. . . there are smaller flowers that often get neglected so I stamped up two different sizes and made a background.  For the yellow flowers on the purse, I used some flower embellishments from SSS that I've had forever.  The sentiment is from Honey Bee.

I hope you'll be inspired by the fabric and the cards that the Design Team has made to make a card for our gallery.

This challenge is for Color Week and here are the colors.

I didn't add a sentiment but here's a lovely birthday basket of flowers.  The basket is from PTI, the flowers from Simon Hurley.

There is plenty of inspiration over on the blog.  We hope to see your card in the gallery.

This is the prize for one of my commenters that will be randomly drawn on Thursday evening after the challenge closes.  Friday's Just Us Girls post will list all the prize winners in addition to the Chic of the Week.    In order to be eligible you must make a card for the challenge, comment on the Just Us GIrls challenge blog and comment here on my blog.

Group of Seven - Off the Edge

There are some wonderful card makers who share techniques, design elements and their inspiration cards over at Group of Seven Cardmakers.  This month the technique is "Off the Edge" and I have a card to share in their gallery.

The flowers and sentiment are from Waffle Flower's Bouquet Builder.  They are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Altenew Artist Markers.  I need more practice with alcohol markers and thought this was a good chance to do it.

Thanks for dropping by.

Jugs Us GIrls #688 - Photo/Moodboard Week

Lisa E is our host at Just Us Girls this week and she has an enticing moodboard for us.  Take a look.

Here's a bigger picture.

You definitely should be able to find something that tickles your creativity.  If you need inspiration, you can always find plenty on the blog where the Design Team and our guest Kristin have wonderful cards for you to see.  Here's mine.

I was intrigued by the bone china cups and saucers in the upper right.  I have quite a collection, with some of them coming from my grandmother and mother.   The Altenew Vintage Tea Cup was stamped on photo paper to give it a shiny look.  The cup was filled with flowers from Waffle Flower that were colored with Zigs and it's centered on a gray panel cut with a PTI corner die to mimic the gingerbread on the cabinet.

I hope we see you in our gallery.

Color Throwdown #748

I don't know what's gotten into me.  I normally have trouble with color challenges but this is the third time in four weeks that I've played at Color Throwdown.  Last week I was guest designer.

I took advantage of a Concord and 9th clearance sale and got the Plaid Card Front dies.  This is the thin one cut in blue.  The barrel and flowers are on loan from a friend after I commented on a card she made, asking where the barrel came from.

Thanks for dropping by.  Have a great weekend.

Color Hues #65, Beautiful Blooms #5 and NBUS #51

I looked over my floral stamps trying to decide what to do for the Color Hues challenge, not finding anything I was happy with.  Then a new order came and I saw the possibilites.

The flowers and vase are from Simon Hurley/Spellbinders called Floral Stems and Ceramic Vases respectively.  I cut the mum from two shades of red and one of the six vases from aqua.  The background is Crystal Wall from Altenew and the sentiment is from Hero Arts.

I'm also sending my card to Beautiful Blooms (see their beautiful moodboard below) and NBUS where we can all post our Never Before Used Stuff .

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope you week is going well.
