MUSE # 71 and NBUS #1

Today I have a card for the MUSE challenge.  I won the last one so it wouldn't be right to not enter this one. ;)  The muse this week is Therese Calvird.

I was inspired by the multicolored stripes and the raised die cuts. I wanted to try a new technique - stamping with a stencil.  I saw Tim Holtz do it in a video and I remembered how, but for the life of me, I can't find a link for you.

I painted the back of the stripe stencil with a variety of Distress Inks, spritzed it with water and pressed it onto the cardstock.  I love how it came out.  For the sentiment color and shine, I inked up some photo paper with Seedless Preserves, cut it and 3 more layers with  a PTI die and glued them together.  I wasn't happy with my happy but I forgot that I had several other happy dies until it was all said and done.  No way was I going to tear it off and do another one. :P

Because my Tim Holtz Stripes stencil is never before used, I'm also entering this card in Darnell's NBUS challenge.  Isn't this the cutest button that she had designed for the challenge?  She's hosting this because so many of you follow her blog - 500 of you in fact - and I don't blame you.  The cards are great and her commentary is so much fun.  You always leave with a chuckle or two, or maybe outright laughter.  Stop over to the Playhouse and take a peek.

Thanks for stopping by.  I appreciate all of you and love reading your comments.

What a fabulous card, this technique looks like so much fun! Now I'll have to take a peek and see if I can find the link, trouble is once I start cruising around the web I find that I lose a few hours lol.....

Love the rainbow of color & think the lines of the happy die you used go perfectly with the stripes - another great take on the Muse!

Super card - like others love the stripes/background. It's muted and special at the same time.

Very fun card--that inking on the base is so interesting.
