MIM #210

The challenge at Make It Monday is to use your coverplate to make a stencil for using with embossing paste.  Clear as mud?  Go see Laurie Willison's video and you'll understand what it's all about.

My hexagon coverplate is the one I chose and used translucent embossing paste mixed with a little Antique Linen DI so it would show up better on my Rustic White cardstock.  While it was drying, I took a scrap of watercolor paper and smooshed it into some watered down Mowed Lawn and Peeled Paint DI and cut the fern from Meadow Greens. Then it laid on  my desk while I kept looking to see what else to do.  I had planned to use the sentiment from Stampendous so it would nestle beside the fronds but couldn't decide what color.  Okay let's do HA Soft Brown. Love it but it still needs something.  I used to do a lot of edge inking or antiquing as I called it, so I did a little with my Antique Line.  It's coming. How about some twine?  I had some the perfect color so on it went.  Then to balance off the green, I mounted it onto a green base.  Sometimes you just have to approach your design slowly and it will come together in the end.

I had just enough of that watercolor paper to cut the smaller fern and make another card.  I said I was going to try to do twofers whenever I could and after all the prayer requests in church this morning, I'm going to need them.

On this one I used the fern stamp to make a background with Shabby Shutters, stamped off once.  The card was mounted on some Spring Moss with the upper corner rounded and a sentiment from Penny Black added in Soft Brown.

Thanks for stopping by.  Your visits and comments are always appreciated.

These are beautiful, Bobby ... serene and gentle ... love how that first one 'evolved' ... each element adding that certain something to make the perfect whole! Anita :)

These are sensational, Bobby! I love ferns so I am really blown away by your designs!

Good for you for making twofers, too! It's hard, isn't it, if you aren't used to doing it? At least it is for me. Yesterday I caught myself halfway through putting all my stuff away before I remembered I want to make two each time. If I can just keep it up it will become a habit I hope. I'm already weeks behind in my Christmas-card-making resolution, but I'm doing pretty good with the twofer resolution, so one for twofer isn't bad, lol! You can inspire me! Have a wonderful week! Hugs, Darnell

A duo of beauty, Bobby! Your ferns are gorgeous and the canvases you've created to showcase them adds to their appeal. So pretty! I enjoyed reading your 'how these came to be' process, and your twofer decision: clever! Looking forward to more dazzling pairings!
