It's Color Week at Just Us Girls and here's what Lisa picked for her colors.
Now I have to admit (1) that color challenges aren't my easiest challenge to do and (2) I usually Google the color combination and you'd be surprised what ideas you can get. I did get an idea and it evolved over time to this.
It looks like an old fashioned antimacassar. What? you say. You know. Those crocheted doilies that your grandmother, or in the case of most of you your great-grandmother, put on the back of the chairs. No? Well take my word for it, they looked just like these dies from Frantic Stamper only bigger. I did some smooshing on mixed media paper with Distress Ink and then cut the flowers from it. The sentiment is from Verve.
Wondering what beauties the Design Team and guest designer Julia Aston have to inspire you? Head on over to Just Us Girls to find out. There you'll see the information about being our Chic of the Week if you enter a card.

I know what a doily on the back of a chair is....my Grammie used to put those on chairs to protect the chair from my Grampa's head....lol. But I did NOT know it was called an antimacassar. How FUN!!! Your card is beautiful, and yes, it looks just like one of those!! Great take on the color challenge!
I agree with Judy's comment! I even have some of those doilies stashed at the bottom of a drawer or trunk or someplace...the workmanship and craftmanship is amazing.
I even went to the good old dictionary to find the correct pronunciation of antimacassar! Loved your card...which took me down a path of rediscovery and what-have-you! So pretty! Liked how you used the pink vellum for the sentiment! Beautiful!
YES! They look exactly like the doilies on the back of my grandmother's chairs! They work so well with this color combo, too...such a pretty card, Bobby!
Beautiful soft coloring on your pretty die cut 'doilies' Bobby - and yes - my mother and grandmother had these on some chairs and under plants or dishes on side tables!
Love the softness of the colours on this card. You made me laugh and feel real old, mum had them at one stage.
Well, how about that? I still use one doily in the whole house and it's right behind the Mister's head. That's how old I am, lol! Thank you for the word lesson; you know how I love learning new words! I just wish my old white doily looked as pretty as your antimascara! I might smooch mine around in some ink! This is a lovely thinking of you card in beautiful colors! Hugs, Darnell
I love your die cut doilies with the soft, smooshed colors! And yes, I do remember seeing many of those in many, many places around my aunt's home.
Gorgeous doilies Bobby and especially in those soft colours. I do remember them too. Must be my age! Love the sentiment.
Yes, Bobby ... they do ... these lovely die cuts look just like antimacassars ... soft, delicate and oh so pretty! They truly do put me in mind of the ones my great grandmother used on the back and arms of her chairs! Thanks for that lovely memory! Hugs, Anita :)
What a pretty use of the colors!
What a terrific way to use this die! Pretty card Bobby!
I totally know about those doilies; mom still has a few on random pieces of furniture in her house! Your replications here: only gorgeous!
Hugs~c
Well I learned a new word today! LOL! My gram made tons of these, and I own many of them! Your version of them is amazing! Love how you used the colors to create these beauties!
This post made me chuckle! I too remember the ones my great grandmother used on the back of her chairs! Such a lovely card and super idea to google the colors!! HUGS!
