Just Us Girls #752 - Color Week

Carol M is our hostess at Just Us Girls for the Color Week challenge and these are the colors you are to use on your card.

I'd like to welcome Jenn Borjeson as our guest designer this month.

For my cards I used metallic gold and I don't know what possessed me but I ended up making six cards with tiny little pieces.  Here's the challenge one.

The ornament is from Elizabeth Crafts and I cut the base from white that had a double sided sheet attached.  Once the blue and gold foil were cut, it made opposite ornaments. The foiled background is Pine Sprays from Spellbinders, trimmed in more blue foil.  A label die from Altenew, bough from TH cut in gold and a gold embossed sentiment from PFS finish it off.

This is the one made in the opposite colors.  Because it wasn't for the challenge I could use the green foil sprig.  An embossing folder from Spellbinders, frame from PB and sentiment from PFS finished this one.

Here's a look at all six.

I said I was behind in making my Christmas cards so this helped get me farther along.

The Design Team has lots for you to see and hope to inspire you to make a card for the challenge.  We'd  love to see you in our gallery.

Just Us Girls #747 - Color Week

It's Color Week at Just Us Girls and our host Lisa has chosen these:

I want to welcome Kerry Parkinson as our guest for the month of October.  Her blog is Kerry's Papercraft and you'll definitely want to check it out.

My card features what else but Altenew flowers. 😊 These are the layered Canterbury Bells stamped with Altenew inks. They are added to light gray cardstock that has been embossed with the Spellbinders plaid folder.

This is such a pretty color combination.  Check out what the Design Team and Kerry have done with it and then make a card for our gallery.  We'd love to see you there.

Just Us Girls #743 - Color Week

I'm the host at Just Us Girls for Color Week and my chosen colors are

The shades can be any color of blue and rust and the gold can also be metallic like I used on my card.

The Dahlias from PTI were cut in rust and inked in the centers with Rusty Hinge Distress Ink. The frame and leaves cut in gold are from SSS.

Our guest designer this month is Nance Salkeld from Soul Stampin' Designs.   She and the Design Team and some great cards to inspire you.  We hope you'll join us for the Color Challenge this week.

Just Us Girls #738 - Color Week

Carol Mc is our host for Color Week at Just Us Girls.

It's a new month and time to welcome our next guest designer, Bonnie Klass.  She and the Design Team have used these hot colors in such cool ways.  Be sure to check them out for inspiration.

It was time to get out my flip flops dies from Paper Smooches.  I cut them with the requisite hot pink and orange, embossing the soles and adding a little flower for decoration.  This is a Monarch card (3.5 by 7) to fit them with a sentiment. That part was easy.  Not so with the sandy background.

It took me four tries to get what you see on my card.    From the top down:  Sand embossing powder which looked perfect before I heated it.  It turned gold.  Next I tried colored textured paste.  Another no. I got a little closer with the third one which I think is Frayed Burlap Distress Spray with too much spray.  I lightly sprayed it again for the final card, wiping it up with a paper towel for a lighter appearance and then splattered with Gathered Twigs.  The sentiment is from Honey Bee.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope to see your colorful card in our gallery.

Just Us Girls #734 - Color Week

Stephanie is the host for Color Week at Just Us Girls and these are the colors she has chosen.

I went a totally different way than you would expect with these colors.

The yellow said lemon to me so I got out my Lawn Fawn set and made a bunch of them.  The background is Watercolor Stripes coverplate from Altenew cut in coral cardstock.  I cut one of the stripes in white so that I could stamp the sentiment from Trinity Stamps and inset it in the space.

I said I made a bunch of lemons so here is the other card I made with them. I must admit I made this first but then realized I couldn't use the green for the challenge.

I ink blended a background with Squeezed Lemonade and Abandoned Coral and arranged the lemons across it, including some leaves and a flower.  Same lemons but these look brighter than the first card.  It's all a matter of photography.

What do you think of when you hear coral and yellow?  We'd love to see what you come up with using our colors.  For inspiration please check out the Design Team and our guest Cat Craig.

In case you haven't noticed, we've extended our timeline, moving the challenge deadline to Wednesday at 6:00 pm.  The Winner of the Week will be posted at 7:00 am the next day, one hour before the challenge goes live.

Just Us Girls #725 - Color Week

I'm the host of Color Week at Just Us Girls.  Here are the colors for you to use on your card.

I must have seen something in those colors that inspired me to choose them but when it came time to make a card I couldn't remember what it was.  No problem.  I had other ideas.

All dies are cut from white paper and colored with a variety of inks  The Coneflowers are Simon Hurley and the rest including the crate are from Honey Bee.  The background is a brick folder from Alltenew.

The Design Team and our guest have lovely cards to show you using the challenge colors.  I hope they inspire you to make a card for the gallery.

Just Us Girls #721 - Color Week

It's Color Week at Just Us Girls and Ina has a bright color way for us.

My first thought was Halloween. 😀  But then I remembered the pumpkin die from Honey Bee and that started the ball rolling.  It's basically an all Honey Bee card.

Cut from orange cardstock, I used detail brushes to add more orange to the debossed ribs.   A slit was cut in the top so I could add my die cut flowers,  one from Spring Greenery and two from Autumn Bouquet, cut in white and colored with a variety of inks.  Arranging was the difficult part but once they were all taped inside the pumpkin, they were glued or pop dotted down onto the Burlap embossing folder.

I'd like to welcome Colleen Begley as our guest designer this month.  Colleen and the rest of the Design Team have some wonderfully colorful cards to inspire you.  We hope you'll join us in the gallery.

Just Us Girls #717 - Color Week

It's Color Week at Just Us Girls and our host Elizabeth has chosen these colors for you to use on your card.

I went rather tropical with my card.

I'm trying to use older things in my stash and these MFT Wild Greenery dies haven't seen the light of day in ages.  My color choice is the aqua of the third leaf.  The leaves are arranged on one of MFT's Elegant Rectangles that is layered on Key Lime cs from Gina K.  The sentiment is from EbyE.

I want to welcome Tracey McNeely as our guest designer this month. She and the rest of the Design Team have some colorful cards to inspire you.  I hope we see your card in our gallery.

Just Us Girls # 712 - Color Week

Sue is our host for this week's challenge at Just Us Girls and she chose colors appropriate for the month of February.

I pulled out some patterned paper as the base for my card.

It mean it already had red, pink and gray, so gray became my neutral.  After cutting it with Honey Bee's postage die, I added the Sunrise Stem from SSS, colored with Distress Inks.  Somehow I found a piece of gray cardstock that matched so I could emboss my sentiment from The Greetery.

What neutral will you pick for your card?  Need inspiration?  Check out the Design Team makes.  We'd love to see your card in the gallery.

Just Us Girls #708 - Color Week

Welcome to a shiny new year at Just Us Girls.  2024 brings a few changes to our challenge as you can see by the wonderful new graphics courtesy of Elizabeth and the start date.  We now go live at 12:00 am  Thursday and close on Tuesday at 9:00 pm with the winners' post on Wednesday.  We hope this will give our followers more weekend time to create.  You can check the sidebar of the challenge blog to see the rotation of themes.  Today is Color Week and Vicki has chose these colors for us:

In November I participated in a class called Posy Party Mix that was hosted collaboratively with Altenew and Pinkfresh Studio.  I used one of the designs from that day for my card.

The set from Altenew is called Lovely Camellias and was stenciled using Altenew inks.  The background is navy although it photographed black.

I'd like to welcome Stef Perry as our guest designer for the month of January.  She and the rest of the design team have some wonderful cards using these colors for your inspiration.  I hope you will join in the challenge.

Just Us Girls # 704 - Color Week

Where is the time going?  We're already into November.  Do you have your Christmas cards made?  If not, the challenge at Just Us Girls may be just what you need.  Carol Mayne is our host and she has chosen these colors for Color Week.

I knew right away what I was going to do with these colors.

I used my NBUS stamps, stencils and dies from Alex Syberia Designs, coloring that large poinsettia with Altenew inks.  I love that there are die cuts for the sentiments in this set too.

Melissa Craig is out guest for November.  She and the Design Team have some beautiful red and green cards to inspire you but they don't have to be Christmas cards.  We'd love to see you in our gallery.

Just Us Girls #695 - Color Week

Lisa E is our host this week at Just Us Girls and the colors she picked are Apricot and Aqua.

I stamped and stenciled an image from Altenew's Delicate Garden in Altenew inks and layered it three times.  A white panel was cut with a Waffle Flower frame die, leaving the inside plain and using the Altenew Dotted Sunburst Debossing Cover Die on the outside.  Another frame was cut from aqua and inset into the panel.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

For inspiration, the Design Team has some wonderful cards in these colors.  If you make a card and are chosen the winner of the challenge, you made be a future guest designer.

Just Us Girls #691 - Color Week

It's Color Week at Just Us Girls and our host Vicki has chosen these colors for our cards.

Looks like flowers to me. ;)

The forget-me-nots from The Greetery were cut from smooshed paper and the green stems and yellow centers were colored with Zigs.  They are arranged in The Greetery's Market Basket that was heat embossed in Platinum, lined with vellum and a sentiment added.  The background is a coverplate from Concord and 9th.

You may see something else in these colors.  We'd love to see what you make.  Check out the Design Team for inspiration.

Just Us Girls #686 - Color Week

Elizabeth would like you to use only pastel colors on your card for Just Us Girls this week.

I want to welcome Kristin Sluhan as our guest designer this month.

I don't often use pastel colors but I had fun with it.

The stencil is Botanical Bunch from Pinkfresh Studio colored with Altenew inks.  I needed an anniversary card so I added a foiled sentiment from Spellbinders.

I look forward to seeing all the pretty pastels in our gallery this week.  Need inspiration?  There is  plenty to be had from our design team and guest Kristin Sluhan.

Just Us GIrls #678 - Color Week

It's Color Week at Just Us Girls and our host Nancy has chosen these lovely colors for us.

I went in an entirely different direction from my usual florals.

I rarely use this set from MFT and thought it was time I got it out.  Plus I need the alcohol marker practice. I cut her with a scalloped oval from MFT and placed it on a stitched rectangle with the Concord and 9th Celebrations turnabout on it in the challenge colors.

What do you think of when you see these colors?  I hope you'll show us with a card for our gallery.  We are welcoming Claire Apostoloff as our guest this month.  She and the rest of the Design Team have some wonderful inspiration for you.

Just Us GIrls #673 - Color Week

Hey, friends.  I'm the host at Just Us Girls for Color Week and I've chosen terra cotta and green.

I don't know what made me choose these colors but I'm loving my card.

The stencil from MFT was inked with Terra Cotta from CPD on Soft Stone cardstock from PTI, making it darker in places.  The 'vines' are a die from Penny Black.  I wanted the sentiment to look like a poster on the wall so I cut the Soft Stone with HoneyBee's Deckle Rectangles, inked around the edges, folded a corner down and added dots for the 'tacks'.

I want to welcome Joanne James from The Crafty Owl as our guest designer for the month of April.  She and the Design Team have a wide variety of ways to use these colors.  I hope you'll join us.
