Hey there, crafty friends. I'm glad you dropped by.
I was intrigued by the technique at Group of Seven Cardmakers and thought I'd give it a try. There are a number of things to consider when making a card with this technique so it was definitely a learning experience.
I guess I didn't learn the lesson but I wanted to use this stencil set. For this card I cut a mask from Spellbinder's Notched Corner Frames, added it to the card base and stenciled all the veggies from Concord & 9th. It was still too open so I inked around the edges with Pink Sand the same color as the mushrooms, which is not a bad look if you only have open image stencils. The sentiment is from Honey Bee.
Is this a technique you might try? See what the Group has done for some better examples. 😉

Great designs, Bobby, and a terrific post about your experience with the technique! The cool thing is that you end up with a pretty card even when the edge might not be as visible as you wanted. And what a helpful tip on your second fun veggie card about inking around the inside edge to solve that problem! Thank you for playing with Go7! Hugs, Darnell
Both your cards are awesome, Bobby! Too bad the scalloped edge doesn't show, but I love the curved mask that works perfectly with your sentiment. Great work sponging a soft colour in the background for your second card. That worked out great! I will add your comment to the Gof7 blog. Thanks so much! xx
Well that edge might not show, but the card is still lovely! They both are, Bobby, great job!
This technique certainly does take some thought, Bobby! I'm so glad you tried it and love the yellow flowers with the curved sentiment to accent the masking! Great idea to add some sponging to show off the masked shape!
Beautiful cards Bobby and great observations of the things to watch out for when doing this technique, but I think they are wonderful designs, and the curved shape you masked works brilliantly with the added curved sentiment and love those pretty flowers, and the lovely notched corners on the second is an interesting look to show off your bright and fun vegetables, and just adding the shading around the edges makes it stand out really well. x
Your Spring flowers are really quite pretty and I love the touch of lavender/blue. Good job!
Those veggies look good enough to eat. I love both cards.

I love the subtleness of the curve mask and inking; besides it made a beautiful curve to add your sentiment to. Your second car is equally wonderful!
Great cards, I love the curve creating a frame on the first and your second card is so cool with all the vegetable - love it. Thanks for trying the technique with us at Group of Seven xx
I learned as well, that it matters what stencil you use! These are two lovely designs Bobby! Thanks for playing with the technique and sharing your cards with us at GO7! Julia xx
