Double D - Birds

I've said it before and I'll say it again.  If it's a bird challenge chances are I will be making a card.  Birds are my joy, both in feeding them and watching their antics every day and including them on cards.  So when Double D had a bird challenge with four shown in their mood board my heart started beating.  I was enchanted with their red-headed woodpecker and knew I could turn Altenew's Bird of the Mountain into one.

It took a little thought to know what color each layer needed to be and how to cut the red head but I think it worked.  I also cut the beak longer.  To give him something to perch on, I cut a strip of Kraft cardstock, ran it through a woodgrain embossing folder and dragged some Gathered Twigs Distress Ink across it.  The background was colored with Tumbled Glass DI.

Thanks for dropping by.

Oh, Bobby, you really have made a perfect redhead out of that die - he is SO handsome!
I made a redhead of my own [but you won't see it until tomorrow!]

WOW! You got this guy perfectly, Bobby! You know I love watching the birds too. We don't see many of this kind of woodpecker but there are several other species that come by. Maybe someday we'll see one just like this.

Fantastic design! You worked wonders and came up with a perfect match to the mood board woodpecker. Lots of dimension with the die cuts too. Well done. Thanks for sharing at the Double D, "Bird Challenge".

NO one would've ever known that you didn't start out with a woodpecker! Goodness, your ingenuity came through and he sits brilliantly upon his perch -- great card, Bobby!

Fantastic! I see this guy at my feeders everyday, along with a lot of Flickers. They enjoy the woods behind us but they sure gobble up a lot at the feeders, too. It's brilliant how you adjusted this to look exactly like a woodpecker. They do need that longer beak! Bobby, you're a woman after my own heart when it comes to the birds, and I sure do appreciate your sharing with us at Double D!
