Inkspirational #361 and Double D "Signs of Love"

This card has been sitting on my desk and I'd better get it posted before the challenge time runs out.  It's for Inkspirational and Double D - Signs of Love.

Inkspirational has a visual prompt and I was drawn to the gnome.  He's from a Christmas set from Gina K but I turned him into a valentine gnome by using a scrap of heart paper for his hat and a sentiment from the set.  The background is a coverplate from Honey Bee and the folk heart is from Ellen Hutson, embossed with Altenew's Organic Linen folder.

Thanks for dropping by and spending a bit of your day with me.

Double D - Vintage/Shabby Chic

My card for Double D was inspired by my friend Bonnie and some cups she did last summer.  You can see them here.  I sat right down and made one and it has been waiting for me to put it on a card ever since.

The stamp is Hello Beautiful from Altenew, stamped on Bristol and colored with Zigs on a cup from Memory Box.  The paper from Penny Black was a perfect compliment to the flowers so I used two different ones from the pack, cutting the middle panel with a scalloped die from Frantic Stamper and then again in white for the lace.  For the MCS sentiment I used their tag die and made a tea bag, attaching it with a piece of green cord.  I probably should have inked around the edges or something to make it more shabby chic but I left well enough alone before I ruined it. 😁

Double D - Friends

Double D had the cutest mood board for their current challenge - Friends.  I don't have anything like that but found something I think is just as cute.

Those hedgehogs from Penny Black are adorable.  They were colored with Zigs, mounted on PTI  Green Parakeet and then on a panel of Spellbinder's Deep Pumpkin, embossed with SSS Blossom Field.  The sentiment is from Honey Bee's My Favorite Flower.

The snow and cold persist but at least the sun is shining.  I hope you are staying warm and safe if you are in the frigid zone.

Double D - 10th Birthday

Congratulations to Darlene and Diane on the 10th anniversary of Double D.  Once I saw the mood board, I knew I had just the right stamp set to make a card for the celebration.

The Greetery's Balloon Bouquet was gifted to me by a friend during a de-stash and this is the first time I've used it.  If you look at the mood board photo on the upper left you can see why.  The balloon was stamped with Altenew Artic ink to give it a translucent look.  The flowers and sentiment were stamped with Catherine Pooler inks.

Thanks for dropping by and spending a little bit of your day with me.

Double D - Santa/Snowman and NBUS #81

I waited until I got my new Santa Greetings dies to make a card for Double D, made it right away and then it sat until now.  Things have been rather busy so I'm glad I made it when I did.

I think he is just the cutest Santa.  He's cut from colored cardstock except for his beard, trim and face.  The face was colored with Altenew artist markers.  The letters come with the set and I cut them from Spellbinders Antique Treasured Cardstock. The background was cut with a SB Stylish Oval and embossed with their Evergreen folder.

Since Santa is new, he's headed off to Darnell's NBUS Challenge

I know it's a busy time and I'm grateful that you took some time to visit.

Double D Christmas Wrapping and Christmas Kickstart #105

Sometime during a sale I got a couple of items from Sunny Studio and one was their Perfect Gift Boxes.  They're really meant for birthdays but I thought they'd be cute as Christmas gifts and made this card.

The boxes and bows are all cut from ancient scraps.  The back panel is from Reverse Confetti cut in white with a green panel behind.  Another smaller panel was cut and embossed with the Graceful Holly from SSS.  The silver embossed sentiment is from Alex Syberia.

The Double D challenge is Christmas Wrapping and Christmas Kickstart's is "Anything Christmassy Goes" so my card will head off to both of them.

Thanks for dropping by and spending a little of your busy day with me.

Double D and Two Old Bats Halloween Challenges

Double D wants to see Halloween colors on our cards so I obliged.

The inside says: Put on your party hat and celebrate.

My friend and high school classmate has a birthday on Halloween so I make her a card every year.  For this one I used paper from a Doodlebug pack, cutting the hats from Sizzix.  The sentiment from Honey Bee said Happy BOO day but I stamped a birthday stamp, cut off the irth and pasted it over the OO.  The panels were cut using Waffle Flower's A2 rectangles.

I'm also sending this to D and D's Two Old Bats Halloween challenge.

Thanks for dropping by.

Double D Challenge - Cards for the Kiddos

Double D is having a cards for kiddos challenge. Their mood board features animated images which I don't have in my stash.  In fact I only have a few stamps/dies for kids and didn't bring any with me so I'm hoping that what I did use will be acceptable.   I could skip the challenge but since I won the randomly drawn prize at their last challenge I felt compelled to enter this one.

I think older kids especially would love these Tropical Friends from Spellbinders in all their colorful glory.  To give them a place to roost, I die cut Palms from The Greetery and placed them on a background of Breeze cardstock from SB.  The heat embossed sentiment is from Hero Arts.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope your week is off to a great start.

Double D - Flower Pots

I don't usually post twice in one day but Double D is closing soon and I wanted to get a card entered.

Technically these are vases not pots but they still hold flowers so I'm going with it, especially since Judy used the same set. 😉  The vases are from Simon Hurley and cut from patterned paper.  The flowers are also Simon's, cut from scraps of cardstock and shaded with artist markers.  You can't see it very well but the background has been embossed with the Subtle folder.

Thanks for dropping by again.

Double D - Frames

I love all the wonderful frames that are the inspiration at Double D.  What I wouldn't give to have some of them just to hang, no pictures needed.  But my card does include a frame and picture.

Stamped on Bristol, the PB Garden Trio image was colored with Zigs.  The PB Double Frame was cut from a TH pack that I thought gave a patina look,  layered and then foam popped.  The sentiment is a SB BetterPress.

Thanks for dropping by.  Have a crafty day.

Double D - May Birthstone or Flower

No Lily-of-the-Valley in my arsenal of flower stamps and dies but I made a substitute for the challenge at Double D.  They are honoring May birthdays by asking us to use the flower or birthstone of the month - Emerald.

My Honey Bee Wildflower is more Campanula than Lily but I thought it worked, especially on the emerald green background.  The green is cut with MFT's Elegant Rectangle and embossed with SU's TimeWorn Type.  The background is Altenew's Organic Linen folder and the sentiment is a BetterPress from SB.

Double D - Designer Paper

Hello! (said with attitude) Double D has a challenge to use Designer Paper.  Who doesn't have a ton that sits in a box just waiting to find a place to play?  I know I do and pulled out a pack from 2012 to make this card.

I found a card on Pinterest that gives the dimensions for making a card using patterned paper.  In reading the post at Crafting Daily Dose, I realized she had CASEd a card of mine from 2014.  LOL   I'm not sure where my original design came from.   This one is on Gina K Ivory cardstock, embossed with a WeRMemory Keepers folder, with a sentiment from Hero Arts.

Thanks for dropping by.  I'm busy getting packed up for our summer in Michigan.  It's difficult to know what crafting supplies to take.  It will definitely make me think outside the box if I want to enter any challenges.

Double D - Springtime Flowers

With Springtime flowers in bloom and so many flower dies and stamps in my stash, I just had to make a card for Double D.

Their mood board reminded me of the PTI pansy die that I have.  The petals are cut in white and the center is from a scrap of sprayed Villainous Potion.  The background panel is from The Greetery's Nordic Frame. I thought I had swatched all my cardstock but neither green is there so I can't tell you what I used.  I wish I knew because I love the combination.

Thanks for dropping by.

Double D - Birds

I've said it before and I'll say it again.  If it's a bird challenge chances are I will be making a card.  Birds are my joy, both in feeding them and watching their antics every day and including them on cards.  So when Double D had a bird challenge with four shown in their mood board my heart started beating.  I was enchanted with their red-headed woodpecker and knew I could turn Altenew's Bird of the Mountain into one.

It took a little thought to know what color each layer needed to be and how to cut the red head but I think it worked.  I also cut the beak longer.  To give him something to perch on, I cut a strip of Kraft cardstock, ran it through a woodgrain embossing folder and dragged some Gathered Twigs Distress Ink across it.  The background was colored with Tumbled Glass DI.

Thanks for dropping by.

Color Hues #105 and Double D Going Green

A couple of weeks ago I spent some time just playing with stencils.  One of the cards I made works great for both the Color Hues (Green and White) and Double D (Going Green) challenges.

The layered stencil called Square Dance is from The Greetery.  I used Evergreen Bough, Pine Needles and Lost Shadow Distress Inks to color it, trimmed it down and added it to a white card base.  I thought the clover from PTI's Stemmed Statements went well with the colors and worked for a masculine card.  It's colored with the same inks and placed on the Modern Oval from Spellbinders.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

Edited to Add:  The D and D gals reminded me of their Stencil Fun Challenge so my card is off to visit them too, minus the splatter twist.

Thanks for dropping by.  Have a good week.
