Peace on Earth #116

I'm way behind with my Christmas cards and I've been playing with some new things I got a while ago.  One of them is perfect for the challenge at Peace on Earth.

The dies are from Simon Hurley's Mantle Village.  They are all cut from scraps and antiqued a little with Distress Ink.  The background is the burlap folder from Honey Bee.

Freshly Made Sketches #746 and NBUS #88

Jen M had a different kind of sketch for us at Freshly Made Sketches and one I was eager to try, especially since I had what I thought was the perfect NBUS to use.

This die is called Confetti Pop and is from Spellbinders Just Add Cake Kit.  The card base was cut to 4.25 by 3.5 which gave the champagne plenty of room to spray, It was covered with a panel embossed with Altenew's Dotty Circles.  The sentiment is from the same card kit.

My card is also off to Darnell's NBUS where she's hosting a Mutual Appreciation Month with prizes to be had for those who share their cards.  Maybe I should send this card to her for all the time she spends encouraging us to use our NBUS and comment on others who do the same.

The Paper Players #795

I was crazy not to bring summer stamps and dies with me to the lake when that's what a lot of the challenges will be.  I did bring Spellbinders Oh Buoy! so I used that for my card for The Paper Players CAS challenge - Going to the Beach.

The background is from a Lawn Fawn pack I got to make baby cards but this sheet looked like a foggy sunrise at the beach to me, especially when I added the seagull and sand.  All die cuts are from scraps.  No sentiment at the moment until I know who it's going to and why.

Thanks for dropping by and spending a bit of your day with me.

Krafty Chicks #825

I'm trying to get some Christmas cards done while the weather says stay in and craft.  Last week I made one for Krafty Chicks and thought I would make another one this week for their CAS challenge.

I love these darling Snowdrops from PTI and while they present them as a Christmas image they could be used for other occasions.  As you know I don't have any Christmas sentiments with me so that will come later.  I will also be making a few more that are not so CAS.

Thanks for dropping by and spending a bit of your day with me.

Freshly Made Sketches #737

Jen B has a basic sketch at Freshly Made Sketches which should be easy except when you have limited supplies.  It makes me wish I'd brought other stamps but also makes me think creatively and that's a good thing to keep this old brain working.

I started with the Double Frames from Penny Black, using the smaller one.  Next I got out the Spring Birds from Honey Bee.  I don't think I've made their version of a Robin before and I had to research because our Robins don't look like this.  It's actually a European Robin.  For more color, I inked the background with Tumbled Glass DI and added a branch from Honey Bee's Spring Greens.  The frame was originally cut in white but that looked washed out so I changed it to this light gold/tan color and popped it up.

Thanks for dropping by and spending a bit of your day with me.

Just Us GIrls #821 - CASE a Designer Week

It's the fifth Thursday in April and that means you get to CASE one of the Just Us Girls Design Team cards.

I have a soft spot for wildflowers and bought the Layered Wildflowers from Spellbinders a while ago.  I made them right away and then they hid out in the folder.  I thought it was time to bring them out for you to see.

It took a while to figure out how to arrange them on my card until I remembered the Tuck It I bought from PTI a long time ago and never used.  I first cut that from the panel, stamped the sentiment from My Sentiments Exactly and then embossed with the TimeWorn Type folder from SU.

It's always fun to see whose card inspires you to join the gallery.  I hope to see you there.

Just Us Girls #819 - Mood Board Week

I'm the host for Mood Board Week at Just Us Girls and this is what I found to inspire you.

Here's a larger image so you can better see how many different things you have to choose from.

See that image in the middle?  That's the direction I took.

I used the same umbrella I used a few weeks ago from Honey Bee and filled it with the vines from Altenew's House Plants.  The branch is a die from MFT and the background is patterned paper from Altenew.  I left off a sentiment because I didn't know what to use or where to put it. 😁

I hope you'll join me and my team mates for this fun mood board challenge.

The Paper Players #780

It can be challenging when a challenge comes along that has the same theme for a card you made earlier and you don't want to use the same products again.  That's how it was for Leanne's theme of April Showers at The Paper Players when I had already used my boots and umbrella dies.  They call it a challenge for a reason and it took me two days to think of something but I persevered and this is what I came up with.

I started with an MFT rain stencil and Frostbite paste from Simon Hurley on PTI Spring Rain cardstock.  While that was drying I cut from flowers from the Garden Party set from Spellbinders birthday kit and some grass from Gina Marie.  The sentiment is from Stampendous cut with a PFS label die.  For a finishing touch, I added Glossy Accent raindrops to the flowers.

Just Us Girls #817 - Die Week

It's the beginning of April and Sue has a great challenge for us at Just Us Girls Die Week.

I couldn't resist using my lovely layers April Showers from Honey Bee.

The boots were already cut in the folder but I double heat embossed them for 'weatherproofing'. 😉The patterned paper is from PB and the flowers are cut from scraps.  I used my favorite new embossing folder Tiny Flora for the background and a sentiment from Honey Bee's Squeeze the Day.

Now it's your turn.  Get out those dies and make a card for the challenge.  Need inspiration?  The Design Team and our guest have plenty of it for you on the blog.

Color Hues #129 and NBUS #84

My friend Marcia picked the colors for the Color Hues challenge this time.  Purple and Marigold.  So how about some dahlias?

The dies are Into the Blooms: Dahlia from PTI cut in C9 Fig and Sunflower.  The background is Waffle Flower's Rhombus Texture Die and Rhombus Die Panel.  The black fern was in the package and it worked so added it and an embossed sentiment from The Ton.  The background dies are new so I'm also sending my card to Darnell's NBUS.

Inkspirational #363

I made a quick card for the green challenge at Inkspirational.

That top layer of the Concord and 9th plaid is not the black it appears to be but PTI Pinefeather and the bottom layer is Spellbinders Fern, all on Gina K Ivory.  The sentiment is from SSS.  EZPZ and ready for my masculine file.

ETA:  With encouragement from JoAnn, I'm also sending my card to Seize the Birthday where the topping is green as the main color.

Jingle Belles and NBUS #84

I'm trying to break away from my literal take on challenges but a recent purchase has me making this card for Jingle Belles  - We Three Kings.

The die set is from Spellbinders and I used some of their Treasured foil cardstock for the red and blue capes.  The other is from Park Lane (JoAnn Fabrics brand).  I found matching cardstock for their robes and used gold for the crowns and gifts.  Both the star and sentiment are in the set and the sentiment was heat embossed in gold on Gina K In the Navy.  My only complaint is that the foil has a white core and shows along the edges.  I wish I had thought of it before it was glued together but next time I will color the edges with markers.

This is the first card with the kings so they are headed to Darnell's NBUS.

Freshly Made Sketches #727

The minute I saw Michele's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches an idea sparked.  Then I thought maybe the image was too big.  I made the card anyway.  What do you think?

I got the Honey Bee Lovely Layers Wishing Well because I'm attracted to old, rusty metal and wood things and this well appealed to me.  I made it right away and then it sat in the package until I pulled it out for this card. The background was colored with Distress Inks in Tumbled Glass and Twisted Citron.  The dark gray frame is from Waffle Flower and the grass is from Gina Marie.  I tried to match the green ink to the cardstock.  I had a difficult time coming up with a sentiment and was going to go without when I ran across this one from PTI.  I would have done the grass differently if I had the sentiment before I added it but I stamped it on the same paper and trimmed it down. I think it works.

This is going to be a busy weekend.  Both my son and granddaughter have birthdays tomorrow. We will celebrate Allyson on Sunday before going to the middle school play where my great grandson has the second lead in High School Musical Jr. His sister also has a dance competition on Saturday but I won't be going since I've already seen the dances.  Allyson's brother and his family will be joining us as well as her other grandma who came down from Michigan for the occasion.  Like I said - It's going to be a busy weekend but so much fun.

Seize the Birthday #321 and NBUS #84

When Spellbinders had a sale a while ago I purchased their Perched Birds.  I thought they would be great for the challenge at Seize the Birthday - Anything with Wings.

I started with a trimmed panel, an MFT cloud stencil and Speckled Egg DI for the background.  All the bits and pieces were cut from scraps.  Then it was the sentiment dilemma.  I found this one on the Gerda Steiner Owl set.  I think it fits.

This is the first outing for this die set so I'm sending it to Darnell's NBUS challenge, too.

Christmas Kickstart #107 and NBUS #83

I had several ways to go with a card for Christmas Kickstart - Sing-a-Long, a fun theme picked by my friend and teammate Carol Mayne.  I decided on The Snow Notes from Spellbinders.

After making a card with these delightful snowmen at Michele's last summer, I had to have a set of my own.  All the 'accessories' are cut from scraps. The background is Snowfall Shimmer press plate, inked with Hero Arts Unicorn White on light blue cardstock.  The words are from the Snow Notes set and the music notes are from Penny Black's Sing for Joy.  I can't wait to make more of these fun choristers.

Since this is the first time using my own set of Snow Notes and the first outing of the press plate, I'm sending my card to Darnell's NBUS.

Thanks for dropping by and spending a bit of your day with me.
