The Paper Players #487

I decided to take my little MFT birthday girl that I was practicing Copic coloring on and turn her into a card for The Paper Players.

I wasn't going to get on the Copic bandwagon, and I still have a little trouble with them,  but I wanted to be able to do faces so I bought a few of those and then was gifted a few others.  I added Stickles to the cupcake for the Sparkle that was required by the challenge and made one for the inside too.

Less Is More #364

It must be that February is a good start up month because several stamp companies and challenges are celebrating birthdays.  It's the 7th birthday for Less Is More and I wish them many more successful years as a wonderful CAS challenge.  Their theme for this challenge is Music. 

The staff is from PB and I added some red Stickles to the heart.  I couldn't believe how beautifully the sentiment from Altenew fit my card.

Inspired By All the Little Things #72 and The Twelve Tags of Christmas with Loll - 3

The inspiration photo at Inspired By All the Little Things gave me the perfect outlet for my NBUS Concord and 9th tree die.

My card is my usual literal translation. ;)

I cut the tree from some new metallic paper from Neenah that I got at WalMart.  The embossing lines come with the die and I used Stickles for my 'ornaments'.  Once I had the tree done, I struggled with how to do a sentiment.  W&W to the rescue.  I stamped the peace, love, joy on Smoke cs with Smoke ink.  The tree is popped up on some gray fun foam.

Next up is the tag for the Twelve Tags of Christmas with Loll and Friends.  I started to post yesterday with this tag.  Notice anything missing? 

The rules say you have to have stamping and I forgot that little detail.  Fortunately I had a way to solve it and here's the revision.

On day three Loll made a tag using glass bead paste.  I bought some a while ago and so I thought I'd give it a try.  First I masked off an area of a TH stencil and inked it with Distress Ink.  Before removing the stencil I went over it with the glass beads, then lifted the stencil and let the tag dry.  I added a sentiment from TH cut from gold foil.  The stamping is part of a sentiment from PB.

Tag You're It! #74

Tag You're It! is back again, this time with a bi-weekly challenge.  If you missed challenge #73, here's your chance to get in on the action with #74. Our featured artist is Bev Buenker and this is the tag that she has to inspire us.

Isn't that bathing suit darling?  It reminds me of one my mother had back in the 40's.  I took my inspiration from the black and white stripes and the red accents and came up with this tag.

The candles are from PTI that I cut from striped paper and  added some Stickles to the paper pieced flames.  The sentiment is from CF.

No gnomes is my stash so I went with another MFT set.

The background is a MFT brick stencil inked with Distress Inks.  The images were die cut from bristol board and colored with Zigs.  A little Stickles on the ornament and star add a festive feel.

CASology #187

I've always wanted to try a 'spin' card and what better time to do one than when the cue word at CASology is "SPIN".

The Mama Elephant reindeer are perfect for this because they have a second image to put on the back.  I colored mine with Zigs, with a little red Stickles for his nose and black glaze pen for his eyes.  The sentiment from PB is curved a little to follow the circle opening.  I probably should have inked the background but didn't think of it until the card was all together and didn't want to ruin it.  It definitely is CAS this way. ;)

Tag, You're It! #40

Jen Mitchell has a valentine inspiration tag for us this week at Tag You're It!.

I was inspired by the theme and the panel on the tag.

I got my Penny Black order just in time to make this - and many more valentines to come.  I stamped the tic-tac-toe board in black and then put red Stickles on the hearts.  The glitter paper matched and I used it for a border to set the panel off.  A little sentiment from MCS and some glitter twine and there you have it.  How does Jen's tag inspire you?  I hope to see your tag in the gallery.

MUSE #15, CAsology #182, AAA #57, ATCAS #80 and OCC

I've been debating on how to post my cards.  I usually have one card per post but that means you have a flood of emails, if that's how you follow me. If I post 3 or more cards per post, those who are making Design Team comments have to look through everything else to find my entry.  I think most of you do one card per post and it may be because that's all you have ready at the time.  I'm just curious as to how you feel about this subject.

Today I have three cards for you.  The first one is for Muse, where new Design Team member Jenni Murray has created a lovely card for us to follow. (see below mine)

As you can see, I pretty much copied Jenni's card although I used PTI's Harvest Berries for my floral image.

This next one is for both CASology where the cue word is "ADORE" and AAA where the theme is "Love Me Like You Do."

I embossed my NBUS Penny Black stamp in silver and added red Stickles to the hearts.
ETA: I forgot I intended to send this card to Addicted to CAS where the code word is RED.

Next up is homework from my Online Watercolor Class.

It's a simple geometric pattern and although the colors are supposed to be varied I can see where I need more practice on my paint to water ratio.

MUSE #142

This week at MUSE, Anita Bowden has this card for our inspiration.

From her lovely creation, I took the line drawn flowers in the panel, the scoring around it and the tag.

The holly leaves are from The Ton, part of the Stamp of Approval box from Catherine Pooler.  The tag is a stitched rectangle from LF stamped with a sentiment from HA.  I stamped the holly berries but when I put Pico Embellisher on them they ran together. :(  I solved the problem by dotting on some red Stickles.

I have six cards in various stages of completion.  With the winter storm advisory in effect, I think I'll be spending my day in the craft room finishing them up.  If you live in the storm area, stay safe.

Tag You're It #28, HLS Christmas, Inkspirational #89

Now that I have a couple of tag dies, I can enter the Tag You're It challenge more often.  Jen's darling tag and inspiration for this challenge can be seen below.

EDIT:  This little tag won the challenge.

I also have a card for Inkspirational - Melt and Happy Little Stampers Christmas - Sparkle.

I stamped the 2 layer snowman from Penny Black and then drew the bottom later as if it's melting, lowering one arm and dropping the nose on the ground.  Then I added a big layer of Rock Candy Stickles all over his sad little body.

The Challenge #20

I just got all the Christmas cards addressed and ready to mail.  I not only had my own, but my parent's and those that I send to the homebound from the church.  Only mine were handmade.  It wasn't a bad job.  I just put on some Christmas music and stuffed away.  I must admit to using mailing labels but the signatures are done by hand.  The worst part was licking all the envelopes.  Can't someone invent a tasty glue?

I will still be making a few more cards in case I need them. If not, it will be a start for next year.  Today's card is for The Challenge that the talented Lesley Croghan runs.

I decided that the color scheme works well with snowmen and since I had a different one on my Inky Antics set, I used him.

The scrap in the background was left over from an earlier card and was in the right colors from the inspiration (minus the navy).  I stamped on watercolor paper, colored with Distress Markers, added some crystal Stickles and cut around the left side.  The sentiment is also from that stamp set.
