Freshly Made Sketches #614

I love it when things fall into place.  The minute I saw the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches I knew I had the perfect die for it.  Then in looking through my Bits box I found just the panel to inlay in the die.

 

The circle die, cut in silver, is from Waffle Flower and an extra part was cut to fill in the bottom corner.  The circles are from a Brusho background that had been in the box for quite a while.  A heat embossed sentiment from Hero Arts was all it took to make a masculine birthday card for my stash.

I couldn't let the leftovers go to waste so I made another card.

I put the circles to the bottom without the extra portion, inlaid the silver circles and added a stamped sentiment from PTI.  It's been gloomy here so no good light to let the silver shine.

Just Us Girls #629 - Photo Week

Cecile is hosting the challenge and this is what she chose for Photo Week at Just Us Girls.

You can chose the colors, the stones, the wonderful sentiments or whatever inspires you.  I mixed them all in my colorful card.

I used a SSS stencil and a variety of Distress Inks for my background.  Then I went looking for some sentiments and found these by My Sentiments Exactly.  I'm not sure I've ever used them before but they worked perfectly to put in the largest circles. I placed the panel on a piece of gray cardstock to pay homage to the wicker basket in the photo.

Just Us Girls #599 - Photo Week

It's Photo Week at Just Us Girls and our host Lisa has this fun photo to stretch our imaginations.

Here's what I did.

I smooshed Distress Inks on watercolor paper and when I was happy with the color I cut out a bunch of circles with MFT dies  On a few I heat embossed the Scribbles stamp from PTI and on one I did the birthday sentiment. I arranged them on a panel embossed with the texture folder, popped a few up on foam. and put the whole panel on a gray card base.

The Flower Challenge #49

It's time to celebrate!! It's The Flower Challenge's 4th birthday.  It seems like just yesterday when this wonderful challenge began.  Normally the birthday "person" gets the gifts but for this challenge, the winners will get gifts.  There are 7 prizes to be awarded including one from our sponsor this month, Alex Syberia.  Please check our blog for further information.

Also the talented Loll Thompson will be joining our Design Team.  We've had to say goodbye to Rachel Vass and Karen Dunbrook and we will miss them both.  

Now for October's challenge.

I knew right away what stamp let I would use for my card.  Instead of adding circles to my card, I used a WPlus9 set that incorporates circles into flowers.

I masked and stamped them on Bristol so I could color them with Zigs.  Then I cut the panel with MFT's wonky stitches.  What started as an almost one layer card changed when I didn't like the color of my large bloom.  I stamped it again, colored and fussy cut it to place with foam over the original flower.

Freshly Made Sketches #429

While some people are trying to use their NBUS stamps, I decided to use some long forgotten ones.  I pulled out a Winnie and Walter set for Freshly Made Sketches.

All the stamps except the one in black are from the same set and I chose colors to match the patterned paper that came in a kit a long time ago.

Just Us Girls #500 - Trend Week

It's Trend Week at Just Us Girls with Vicki as our host and she wants to see cards with circles.  It's also a milestone challenge (#500) so there are prizes.  A random drawing will be held for gift certificates from the following stamp companies: $25 from STAMPlorations, $25 from CASual Fridays, and $15 from Dare 2B Artzy.

I heat embossed the SSS background stamp and watercolored it with Distress Inks.  The sentiment is also from SSS, layered 3 times.

CASology #290 and Time Out #104

I channeled my inner Kandinsky to make a card for CASology (Abstract) and Time Out (Bold).

Using the SSS Doodle background, I stamped on Bristol and colored with Zigs.  A little black frame was added before popping the 'art' on foam and then the card base.

I always appreciate the sun on cold days like this.  There's nothing on my agenda (as my husband asks every day) so I guess the day will be spent finishing up a couple of cards and maybe cutting some quilt strips.  I hope you have something exciting planned.

Little Red Wagon Round Up

I saw the challenge at Little Red Wagon yesterday and quickly made a card using their 'round' theme. 

I won some Reverse Confetti stamps from Leigh Penner during the Season's Giving Blog Hop and these cuties were included.  I've barely begun on my Valentines and I'm already getting into Easter.  This winter is going by way too fast.

Tag You're It! #72

It's week three of the monthly Tag You're It! challenge and I have some inspiration for you based on this wonderful tag by Lindsey Larsen.

I love the lacy look and the non-tag shape.  Here's what I did.

I already had this die cut from SSS inked in the perfect colors for the challenge.  All I had to do was mount it on a circle, punch a hole and tie on ribbon that was the right color and free gift from Ellen Hutson with an order.

Time Out's Third Birthday

When someone has a party it's rude not to RSVP and so below is my card to celebrate the third birthday of the Time Out challenge.  Boy has that three years gone by fast.  Congratulations to the team who keeps it going. The theme for the party is 'Love and/or Friendship' with the optional twist of spotlight stamping.  I'm all for options. 😉  And I did a twist on the twist.  Uh oh, now I'll be singing "Let's Twist Again" all night. 😀

Can you see my twist?  I spotlighted the outside of the circle and left the inside uncolored and then popped it up on black foam.  Since the flowers from PB were fairly thin lines, I was able to stamp my PTI sentiment right over them without losing it into the background.  The other flowers are colored with Zigs.

Congratulations again, Time Out.  I always enjoy playing cards with you. (Sorry to steal your line, Michele).

MIM #158

I love the watercolor trend than has taken over the card making world.  I took a watercolor painting class a while ago and while I wasn't too bad at it, using stamps makes it a whole lot easier. This week's challenge at Make It Monday is "Stamping with Watercolor Medium".   Heather used gelatos as her medium but I used Distress Inks and I must say it takes some practice to get the right amount of water with the ink.

I stamped the ferns from Meadow Greens onto watercolor paper (many times) until I got an image I liked.  It looked better framed so I cut a circle in some woodgrained white paper.  Since the watercolor paper had a cream tone to it, I cut a frame from Vintage Cream and also used that for my card base, offsetting the popped up panel to the right and down.  I tried a number of ways to add a sentiment but the green on a cream flag looked best.
