Time Out #224

I made a quick card this morning for Time Out using bits and pieces that were partially done.

I knew I wanted to use this sentiment from Altenew and inside the envelope were these flowers already stamped and ready to go.  Then I went looking for a background and found this one I did on my gel plate last winter.  I cut it with a SSS stitched rectangle, stamped the sentiment and layered the flowers 4 times for dimension.

I'm so glad you dropped by.  Have a great week!

Twofer Challlenge #34

Fortunately for me this month's Twofer Challenge is one I can do from my snowbird home.  I didn't bring many stamps with me but I always have flowers and that is their prompt.

I used Positive Vibes from Altenew thinking we can always use some of those these days although I only used one of the sentiments.

I spent an afternoon making a whole bunch of the flowers in different colors and decided on the orange ones for my encouragement card
I took four of the images and placed them around the edges, cutting off the overlap.  The birthday card uses two of the flower bouquets in pink.
I embossed the background with the Subtle folder and added the Sunny Studio sentiment on an Altenew label die.

Bonnie Klass recently joined the Twofer Challenge Design Team.  Congrats, Bonnie!  I also got a chance to meet and have lunch with her and husband Bruce on our way down to our winter residence in NC. It is always such fun connecting in person with our blog friends.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope you have a chance to meet some of your crafty friends.

Twofer Card Challenge #24

You know how you buy stamps because you love them and then don't use them right away?  That's the way I felt about the Squeeze the Day set by EbyE.  Well I found a reason to break it out - the Twofer Challenge and their word prompt.
I used the set, including the punny sentiments, to make both lemons and limes, coloring them with Altenew watercolors.
The lemons were die cut and some of them popped up with foam tape for my encouragement card.
For the birthday card I did all over stamping and then added some light spatters.  It's the little image with the leaf that you can find on both cards.

Thanks for another fun challenge, Twofer Team.

Just Us Girls #486 - Word Week

This will be a fun one! Carol has chosen this as her word for Just Us Girls this week.
I used the Lawn Fawn color slider to make Christmas cards a couple of years ago and brought it out again for this challenge.

Where's the movement you say?  Take a look below.

I was practicing with Gamsol on my PolyChromos using this cute image from GS and since it was laying on my desk I decided to turn it into this reveal card.  The original directions have you stamping the image on the acetate too but I decided to just decorate the pull tab and put the sentiment there.

There are many ways you can choose to show movement on your card.  It can be interactive like mine or with an action wobbler, but if you don't have anything like that you can using a stamp showing motion.  Check out what the Design Team has made for inspiration.  We also welcome Eva Dobilas as our guest designer this month.

CASology #281

What a great cue word for CASology to start out 2018.
I HAD to have this set and bought it in 2016 and this is the first I've used it.  I don't usually let stamps linger that long and it wasn't that I forgot about it.  I just didn't find the right time or right way to use it.  If this isn't encouragement, I don't know what it.  Thanks Teddy and SSS.

At Carol's urging I'm going to send this card to the STAMPlorations January CAS challenge with the optional twist of silver.

I'm glad you dropped by.  Please take this sentiment to heart.

CASology #224

Guess who's a guest designer at CASology this week?  Yes, it's little ole me. I won the 'Welcome' challenge with this card and Melissa emailed me with the opportunity.  I would never say "No".

The cue word this week:
I almost regretted saying "yes" when I saw the word.  It's a good one but not one I have many stamps for.  Then the light bulb went off and I remembered a stamp from Stamplorations and built my card around it.
The hummingbird spiritual animal symbolizes enjoyment of life and lightness of being so I added the WPlus9 hummingbird colored with Zigs and that was all this CAS card needed.  Well a little Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen never hurts.

I'm so glad you dropped by today.  Please go see what the Design Team at CASology has made for your inspiration.

Just Us Girls #368

Sue is the hostess for this weeks Just Us Girls and her word for the week is encouragement.
This card could be for anyone going through a rough time and you want to lift them up.  I made my card for my brother Bill who is going through treatment for throat cancer.
I've always liked this stamp set from PIT.  I 'tacked' it onto some cork which is on some woodgrain paper.

Our guest designer for this month is Cecile Ribon.  Go to Just Us Girls to see what she and the rest of the design team have made and then make an encouragement card of your own.  You may be selected Chic of the Week and be chosen as a guest designer for January.

And once you've made it, don't forget to send it. It could make someone's day.

PS: I don't usually enter my design team cards in other challenges but I thought this would be fitting for  the AAA Cards challenge - Masculine Cards.

TIME OUT #14

I blew it!  I designed my card for TIME OUT around the sketch from CASE This Sketch and then totally forgot that element until the new CTS sketch came out. Shucks!  I might have done something totally different in that case since I'm not thrilled with the card, but I'm posting it anyway.

Here's the inspiration photo:

And my card:

I don't know why but I immediately thought of my gauze paper by DCWV and then found a blackish brown paper that went with it for the card front.  Add a few tags and sentiments from My Craft Spot, tied and stapled on and it's done.  Not very dreamy or home sweet home oriented but an encouragement card.  I know a few people who could use one of those.

I'm hoping to get a lot of cards made today.  I'm so far behind on challenges I'd like to do, and have ideas for.  That's the important part, the ideas.

Have a great weekend, everybody, and thanks for stopping by.

3, 2, 1 Create

I'm in a hurry to create and post.  We leave tomorrow morning for the lake for Labor Day weekend and there are a couple of challenges I want to get in before I leave.

The Less is More challenge is 3 - 2 - 1.  That means use one of something, 2 of something, 3 of something.  I'm combining it with the challenge at My Craft Spot - Hope is Rising (sympathy/encouragement card).

I used 3 words, 2 colors and 1 embellishment.  The flower is cut from my new Live Simply cartridge.    That satisfies the LIM challenge and what could be more encouraging than to know someone is praying for you.
