Jingle Belles - Banner Inspiration

The gals at Jingle Belles would like to see cards based on their blog banner and I was happy to oblige.

The background was watercolored with Evergreen Bough Distress Ink.  Once dry, I used the BetterPress Season's Greetings Evergreens and the same ink for the first pressing.  Then I pressed again using Pine Needles adding some splatters with the same ink.  The snow is Altenew's metallic watercolor.  The sentiment is "merry" from Penny Black cut in Altenew moonstone and a stamped "Christmas" from PTI.

Thanks for dropping by and spending a little bit of your day with me.  I hope your Thanksgiving was blessed with fine food, family and friends.

Just Us Girls #612 - Photo Week

It's the last week of November and the last challenge for Just Us Girls until January 8.  We hope you'll join us then for another fabulous year of challenges.

For today, Lisa has a photo for us.

I must say this one had me stumped for a while.  I usually take things literally and knew I had to break down the image before I could make a card.  Here's what I came up with.

The grocery bags inspired my kraft background and the circle topiary turned into a wreath by PinkFresh Studio.  It is stamped and clear heat embossed so I could paint it with my metallic watercolors from Altenew.  Here's a close-up so you can see the shine.  A sentiment from PTI finishes it off.

I hope you'll join us for our last challenge of 2021.

The Flower Challenge #53

This will be a fun challenge at The Flower Challenge.  We want you to use your newest stamps and/or dies.  You know you all have some.

I think one of my newest is the Incredible set from Altenew.  I decided to try something new to paint those big beautiful flowers.
I heat embossed with white and painted with Brushos.  I tried some Nuvo drops in the center but it looked awful so I just pressed some sequins into it.  I mounted the panel on metallic cardstock and splattered it with some metallic paint in the same color.  The sentiment is from PB.

What stamps will the Design Team and our guest Sathya use?  Let's go check it out.  I hope they inspire you to make a card for the challenge using your new stamps.

Inspired By #156 and Time Out # 177

It looked like New Year's Eve celebrations on the photos at Inspired By and Time Out.  My card can be used for any celebration although it will probably be for a birthday.

I used the balloons from Concord and 9th's Birthday Stacks, embossed them in white and painted them with Altenew metalllic paint to give a translucent look.  The strings and sentiment were heat embossed in silver.

Thanks for dropping by.  Have a Happy New Year!

Inspired By #154

With challenges still happening, I'm getting a good head start on next year's Christmas cards.  This one is for Inspired By.

I was inspired by the holly and two different greens.  I cut two Penny Black dies from black watercolor paper and painted them with Altenew metallic paints.  The PB sentiment was white heat embossed and the black cardstock splattered with white and green before attaching the holly.

Thanks for dropping by.

CAS Christmas May 2020

I had several ways to go with my card for CAS Christmas - Winter Berries.  After much deliberation I settled on a PTI Botanical Block so I could use my metallic watercolors from Altenew.
The image was gold heat embossed on black watercolor paper, painted and trimmed. The sentiment from HLS was also gold embossed.  Since two images fit on the watercolor paper, I painted a second card the same.  It's always good to have more Christmas cards ready.

Thanks for dropping by.  Stay safe.

Just Us Girls #527 - Trend Week

I'm the hostess at Just Us Girls for Trend Week, and this is what I chose.
Using a black background can really make any images you place on it really pop.  I chose this trend because I wanted to use my NBUS Altenew metallic watercolors.
The Adore You flowers from Altenew were arranged on black watercolor paper and embossed in copper.  I had to play around a bit to get the color on without obliterating the lines of the flowers but you can see how well the paint works on black.  I ended up adding spatters in the leaf color and a sentiment from the same set.

The Design Team and our guest Vicky Hayes have a variety of cards with black backgrounds to inspire you to enter our challenge.  You may be our Chic of the Week with a chance to be a future guest designer.

Time Out #153

I remember when Hannelie would make cards based on some of her wardrobe.  Now Time Out has made that their challenge.  How fun is that?!
I've been wanting to use my Altenew metallic watercolors since I got them a couple months ago.  This design proved to be a good place to break them out.  I heat embossed the flowers and butterfly from Altenew's Hibiscus Garden in white and die cut them.  Color was added to the butterfly (see photo below).  It seemed perfect for a sympathy card with a sentiment from MCS.

.Thanks for dropping by.  Have you ever made a card inspired by something in your closet?
