CAS Mix-Up June

Guess who's guest designing at CAS Mix-Up?  Yup it's me.  I won with this card in April and Bonnie invited me to create along with the Design Team this month using this prompt.

The idea to use the Starry Flowers from Altenew hit me in the early morning and I got right to creating my card a few hours later.

I heat embossed them on Mixed Media paper and watercolored with Altenew Ink.  I inked a strip with the darkest color, heat embossed the sentiment from PTI and placed it all on an embossed background.

Addicted to CAS #156

There are a few ways to get the ombre look.  Here's what I did.

I blended Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink from light to dark on Bristol and placed that panel behind one that had been die cut with a LF circle.  The little owl from GS is colored with Inktense pencils and everything is popped up.

STAMPlorations - February

I am so glad I checked the deadline for the STAMPlorations challenge.  I've had a card made for weeks but never posted it.  Although I've already posted a card today, it's now or never for this one.

I made a similar card before but I didn't have the Candied Apple Distress Ink at the time so the sentiment and layout were a little different.  You can see that card here,

I stamped and masked Shirley's houses on Bristol and inked it ombre' style before adding the sentiment from HA.  The inside says "So paint the town red."

Addicted to CAS #128

It's time for another challenge at Addicted to CAS and this time the code word as chosen by our host Barb is

I have neglected some of my SOA/CPD stamps so I got out this birthday one and clear heat embossed it on white cs and cut the banner. Wilted Violet DOX was used to ink it,  going from dark on the bottom and lighter toward the top.  I laid the banner on white cs and simultaneously cut them with a stitched rectangle from SSS.  Then I did something I rarely do.  I added sequins. (gasp)  Two look like blue in the photo but they're actually iridescent and much like the purple color IRL.

CAS(E) This Sketch #199

There were so many ways to go with this last CAS(E) This Sketch.  I planned to combine it with an ombre challenge but missed that deadline.  Had I known I might have gone a different way but I still like the card.

I started out by color washing two pieces of watercolor paper with Cracked Pistachio. using one to cut the word die, numerous times.  The panel was splattered with plain water and then with Black Soot.  The words were placed in the opposite order which (duh) means the middle one is on it's own shade.  There's no way around that I guess.  The word die and all the little sentiments are from SSS.

I think Mother Nature likes to tease us.  It's a beautiful day today but I'm afraid it won't last long.  We have to take advantage of it while we can.  I'm sure a lot of people are putting up their Christmas lights today.

Tic Tac Toe #10 and Seize the Birthday

Tic Tac Toe challenges are a fun way to pick a design for your card. Stamping Smiles Designs has such  a challenge and I've made a card using the middle row across.

I clear embossed the SSS grid on some watercolor paper and made an ombre' wash with a Zig.  This panel is covered with  Neenah that has an oval cut with Spellbinders and is mounted on thick foam.  The daisy is a die from Penny Black that I added a little Distress Ink to.  PB also makes the sentiment that is stamped in Soft Granite.  There you go.  Resist, ombre', grid.

The topping at Seize the Birthday is 'Dimension' and this has it so over it goes to join the gallery.

Online Card Class and Inkspirational #74

I'm taking the Online Card Class - Clean and Simple 4, Techniques Made Simple.  The class started on Monday but it was Wednesday before I could watch the videos.  And another day before I could start using some of those techniques.  I have a card to post in the gallery for day 2.

MIM #120

I was fascinated by the overlapping tutorial over at Capture the Moment's Make it Monday challenge.  You have to use at least one Papertrey Ink product on your card and since I do have some of their stamps, I decided to give it a try.  This is my first time entering their challenge.

I started with the block "happy" from Birthday Bash and stamped it with Distress Inks in Dried Marigold, Ripe Persimmon and Festive Berries.  I just couldn't stop there so I added a little downward arrow using PTI's Tiny Triangles, then added the "birthday" in Jenni Bowlin's Brown Sugar.  This is a 4 1/4 by 4 1/4 card.  I don't usually make this size but I was trying out the stamping technique on a scrap of white cardstock and this size seemed to fit the sentiment best.  I can see doing this in a variety of other colors - if I only had a variety of other colors.  I think blue is the only other ink I have in several shades.
