Just Us Girsl #814 - Word Week

Hello, Friends!  I'm the host of Just Us Girls for Word Week and my word is

Emboss can mean several things so you do what you do best whether heat emboss or dry emboss.  As for me, I dry embossed with a new technique that I learned in a Jennifer McGuire class at Simon Says Stamp.

It started with glossy cardstock and an embossing folder called Tiny Flora.  After embossing, I rubbed CP ink in Sweet Sixteen, Garden Party and Mint to Be lightly over the raised areas and then wiped it off.  I used the same Sweet Sixteen over an embossed piece of vellum.  Then it was putting the two pieces together.  First I cut the glossy panel at an angle and then cut three other pieces of white cardstock in the same shape.  Next I folded the vellum in half carefully to keep it from splitting.

Glue the glossy panel to the vellum using an A2 panel to get the correct size.   Glue one of the white pieces to the back of the glossy panel and then repeat for the back of the card.

To finish it off, I cut a strip of white and one of silver to run across where the two papers meet.  The die cut sentiment is from SSS cut in silver with a shadow in white.   Here's a side view of the completed card.

Will you try something new or return to a tried and true technique for your card?  Check out the wonderful cards from our Design Team and guest Milla for plenty of inspiration.  See you in the gallery.

The Flower Challenge #90

Hey there friends.  I'm glad you dropped by.

Can you believe April is here already?  It's a new month and time for the next The Flower Challenge.

With so many layering dies and background cover plates it should be easy to make a card with layers.  For lots of inspiration check out what the Design Team has made.  Here's my card.

I ran across a Brusho panel in my Bits box and thought it would make great crocuses.  I needed something to put them in and the teapot from Honey Bee came to the rescue.  It was cut from yellow cardstock,  inked in white with a brayer to highlight the raised portions and clear heat embossed to give it a fine china look.  The dome from Waffle Flower is embossed with the Tasteful Textiles folder from SU, layered for dimension and mounted on a Dove Gray card base.

We'd love to see your layered card in our gallery.

Just Us Girls #696 - Word Week

I'm hosting Word Week at Just Us Girls and I've chosen "Moon" as our word.

I was really thinking Harvest Moon when I chose the word but I ended up making a Christmas card.

I started by cutting an MFT circle die from masking paper.  Distress Inks in Faded Jeans, Prize Ribbon, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot were used to color the sky. Santa needed something to fly over so I made a roof using the Spellbinders scalloped embossing folder, inking it with the same colors.  A soft dusting of snow, the silhouette from CPD and a Ho Ho Ho as he flies away finished it off.

What kind of moon will you put on your card?  As always, the Design Team has wonderful inspiration for you.  We'd love to see your card in our gallery.

The Flower Challenge #79 - Pretty Pastels

May the 4th be with you. 😁  Can you believe it's May already?  Here it is the 4th and time for a new challenge at The Flower Challenge.

This should be a lovely gallery.  Get making those pastel flowers.

My PTI pansy is cut from a few patterned papers and added to a panel that has been embossed with a floral folder from Spellbinders.  The sentiment is from Honey Bee, a set that includes the dies to cut them out.

Our guest designer this month is Maria Petkash.  We welcome her and the inspiration she provides as well as that of the rest of the Design Team.

I hope you'll join us.

Freshly Made Sketches #582

Karren has a great sketch for us at Freshly Made Sketches and I had the perfect die cuts for it.

A bird house from WPlus9 embossed with a Spellbinders folder and a chickadee from HoneyBee came together nicely for my birthday card.

Sorry for two posts today but the dealine is nearing on this one and I have a number of other cards ready to post before their challenges are over.  I've been busy creating but also too busy to write a blog post.  You'll see more tomorrow.

52 Christmas Card Throwdown - 13.2023

It's sketch week at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.

I went back and forth on what I wanted to do and ended up using the HoneyBee bear that I used on another Christmas card.

He's cut from kraft and inked with DI for some dimension.  The DSP looked forest-y to me so I added strips of it along with the pines from The Greetery and pinecone from Gina Marie.  The Brushed Pines folder added dimension to the background and the bear is holding a sentiment from PTI.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope your weather isn't creating any difficulties for you.  There have been a lot of storms across the US and I pray for those who have been affected by them.

Can You Handle the Pressure? - Easter

Just a quick post before things get busy today.  I made a lot of Easter cards and this one works well for the challenge at Can You Handle the Pressure?

The Greetery crocuses were colored with Distress Ink and placed on a circle cut with a PinkFresh Braided Circle. Another circle behind was inked in the same color and it's all on a panel using my ancient Swiss Dot embossing folder.  The sentiment is from PTI.

Thanks for dropping by.  Have a great week!

Freshly Made Sketches #579 and Inkspirational #286

I made a card for Freshly Made Sketches and didn't like it at all.  Fortunately I had cut a second set of the Dogwood from HoneyBee so I made a similar card that I like much better.

The blossoms were cut from a Brusho panel I found in my Bits box, the leaves from a scrap I sprayed with Twisted Citron, and the branch from Bristol so I could color it with Zigs. The background is Altenew paper embossed with SSS's Blossom Field.  I embossed a white MFT oval with the SU Subtle folder and placed it on a brown scalloped oval also from MFT.  The sentiment is from HoneyBee's My Favorite Flower.

Inkspirational has a mood board with what looks like these flowers so I'm sending my card to them too.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love it when you do.

Inkspirational #285

My great-grandson has a birthday coming up in a few weeks so I used the prompt from Inkspirational to make him a card.

I started with the Numbers embossing folder, cutting it to 3 3/4 by 5, and placing it on polka dot paper. The balloons from Altenew were cut from primary colors and holographic numbers added to them.  Silver thread ties them to the card front.

Thanks for dropping by.

52 Christmas Card Throwdown and Christmas Kickstart #71

Week 8 of the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown and AndrejaM wants us to use acetate.  Acetate means shaker to me so that's what I did.

The ornament die is from Gina Marie and the sentiment is part of the set.  It's cut in silver and glued to a Distress Ink background.  The main panel was partially embossed with the Pine Branches folder and the silver cap and hanger added.  I got a little carried away with the shaker bits (Moonshine from SSS) so you can barely see the "Joy to the World".

Christmas Kickstart is asking for Baubles for their challenge so I'm sending this to them too.

I'm so glad you dropped by.  I hope you have a crafty day.

Freshly Made Sketches #573

It's been rainy and gray here the last couple of days but I have a card for Freshly Made Sketches that will brighten the day.

The rainbow paper is a freebie with order from HoneyBee.  The MFT umbrella is embossed with Altenew's Dotty Circles and layered three high.  The sentiment is from PTI and that is my wish for you.

Thanks for dropping by.

52 Christmas Card Throwdown, Peace On Earth #33, Krafty Chicks#650 and NBUS #47

I'm still going strong with my weekly Christmas cards.  I started this one for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown but it also fits the moodboard at Peace on Earth and Christmas Week at Krafty Chicks.

All white cards are lovely but you do need something to add a little dimension and pizazz.  This is a NBUS poinsettia die from TH and all the petal pieces are one die.  Rather than cut another one from glitter paper, I heat embossed those overparts and centers with Glitter powder.  I love how it matches the paper I cut the pine branches from.  To add even more dimension, the panel was embossed with the Pine Needles folder.

Since this is a new die I'm sending my card to NBUS, where everyone can post their never before used stuff.

Thanks for dropping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #572

Today's card is for Freshly Made Sketches.

The Altenew Climber is the star of the show, made with scraps of colored cardstock.  The embossing behind is Crystal Wall also from Altenew.

Short and sweet today.  Thanks for dropping by.

Just Us Girls #663 - Photo Week

Carol Mc has a mood board for Just Us Girls this week.

If you know me at all you know that Daisies are one of my favorite flowers so of course I spotted them right away.

The flowers are from a set called Poppies and Daisies from Sheena Douglass and one I've had for ages.  They were stamped in Morning Mist, colored with Zigs and cut with PTI's Tipped Tops.  Smoky Shadow from PTI was run through the Fabric embossing folder from Spellbinders.  (no longer available)  My resolution for this year is to use my older stamps/dies/folders and I did just that on this card.

I hope one of your resolutions is to play at Just Us Girls every week.  This month's guest Jules Peddicord and the rest of the design team have cards to inspire you and would love to see your card in the gallery.

Time Out #205

I have all my valentines made and picked one to enter in the challenge at Time Out.

I made another valentine with hearts using little pieces cut from a paper pack and when I saw the negatives laying on my table I couldn't let them go to waste.  Of course I had to square them up first, 😉 then arranged them on a panel cut with a scalloped edge (Frantic Stamper) and embossed with a quilt folder.  The little sentiments come from a couple of sets - two from The Greetery and the other from Penny Black.

Thanks for dropping by.
