Just Us Girls #490 - Word Week

How much fun will this be?  Sue has chosen 'Retro' as her Word Week challenge at Just Us Girls.

The last time I made a retro card I went mid-century modern.  This time I went with the 60's.

I heat embossed the flowers from PTI onto some GinaK key lime cs, coloring in the centers with a yellow gel pen.  In the photo they just look like a darker version of the card base.  Using some MFT letter dies gifted to me by Michele, I cut the word 'groovy three times then added the heat embossed sub-text.

Time Out #129

A retro challenge.  It can mean a lot of different things to different people.  That's what Time Out has for their challenge and I went with the fifties.

If I wasn't afraid the images wouldn't stamp correctly I would have embossed the background to look like bark cloth.    The images came from a variety of stamp sets and the sentiment is from Stamplorations.

Retro Sketches #62 & Sparkles

I went to the optometrist yesterday afternoon and you know what that means.  I couldn't see worth a darn for the next few hours.  It wasn't until after "Wipeout" last night that I got busy and started my card for Retro Sketches.  I love that show.  Weird isn't it that you can laugh like crazy at people falling into puddles of mud and getting hit with all sorts of obstacles without feeling bad about it.  

My triplet grandchildren will be celebrating their 15th birthday on the 15th.  Where did THAT time go?  I made a card for Kyle using a previous Retro Sketch.  You can see that card here.  I actually used this sketch to make a card for each of the girls.  Here is Abby's card:

As you can see, I followed the rules about centering my printed paper.  The sentiment is computer generated and the twine is from My Craft Spot.  I popped up the 15 that was cut with my Cricut but for the life of me I can't remember which cartridge.  I was cutting a bunch of other things at the same time and went back and forth between a number of different cartridges with fonts on them. Emily's card is the same sketch with different paper.

She recently decorated her room with purple so I thought she would enjoy this color and the brightness of the pattern matches her personality.

So do you want to know what else I was doing while making these cards?  The reason I don't remember what font I used?   Well, I'm going to show you anyway.

My artistic daughter was asked by a fellow teacher to decorate some card boxes for her daughter and a friend to use during their graduation open house.  Rather than paint everything by hand, I told Lisa I would cut it all out with my Cricut.  She picked out this sparkly purple and gold paper and I was rather surprised how beautifully the Cricut cut it.  I only had so much paper and couldn't afford a misscut. You can't see the sparkle very well in the photo but  my craft room looks lovely  I planned it all out on Design Studio so I knew it would fit on the paper and on the box  I'll get it in the mail to her today so she can get it all put together.
