Welcome to a new year and a new challenge at Just Us Girls. Angie is our host and for Word Week she has chosen this:
Fortunately for me, I had a card made before I had thumb surgery that is perfect for this challenge. I'm still in rehab so making cards again is going to be a slow process.
I used the C9 turnbout in various shades of gray and mounted the panel on gray cs. The PB sentiment is silver heat embossed.
We have two guest designers with us this month. Hannelie Bester of Desert Diva and Mary Deatherage of stampsnlingers. You'll want to check out their designs as well as those of the JUGS team. I hope they inspire you to make a card for the challenge. You may be chosen Chic of the Week with an opportunity to be our guest for a future challenge.

Just Us Girls #512 - Word Week
It's Word Week at Just Us Girls and Ina has chosen
I'm in the midst of making Thanksgiving cards so this gave me a chance to add a few more to my stash. Using my MISTI, I stamped the JV sentiment in the center and then surrounded it with leaves from WPlus9. Once I had the images set up it was easy to make four cards, using a variety of Altenew inks. I trimmed the panel with a SSS die and added it to GinaK's Coral Reef.
The Design Team and our guest designer are ready to show you the cards they have made based on this word. I hope you'll check out the blog and then enter a card in our gallery. You could be chosen our Chic of the Week.

Just Us Girls #508 - Word Week
It's time for another Word Week at Just Us Girls and Nancy has chosen
I know you all havea lot some to make a card with. I sure do.
My entire card is made with a paper pack that was gifted to me by Nancy last September when I visited. The flowers and leaves are from Altenew and the sentiment from Verve.
I challenge you to use some of that Designer Paper you have been hoarding *wink* and make a card for Word Week. The Design Team and our guest designer and former teammate Chris Dring can't wait to see what you make.

Just Us Girls #504 - Word Week
It's Word Week at Just Us Girls and Vicki has chosen the word
I don't really have a lot of school stamps so I had to stretch my brain to come up with something. I remembered a die I bought a long time ago and probably only used once.
The pencil is from PTI and comes as three dies. I cut the wood part from kraft paper that I edged with DI and added the lead with a marker. I printed the sentiments from my computer onto yellow paper, cut them out and glued over the wood. Lastly I added the eraser and metal band. I happened to have the lined paper in my stash. I tried regular writing paper but it was too thin and the adhesive showed through.
The Design Team and our September Guest Designer, Janet, have a variety of wonderful cards to inspire you based on the challenge word. I hope you'll check them out and then make a card for our gallery. You may have a chance to be our guest if you are chosen Chic of the Week.

Just Us Girls #499 - Word Week
It's time for another Word Week at Just Us Girls
and the word chosen by Carol is
For me, summer is time spent at the lake. Even though the water is usually cold, the laid back atmosphere and the gathering of family and friends is so refreshing. While I don't wear them (I can't stand the thing between my toes) I love the look of flip flops. Especially when they are as colorful as these. I stamped the flowers from MFT, colored them with Zigs, and cut them with a PS die. I used actual sand paper for the sand and inked the sky and lake with Distress Ink. The sentiment is a NBUS one from STAMPlorations.
Our guest designer Emma and the rest of the Design Team would like to see what represents summer to you. Want to see what it means to them? Head on over to the blog, see the wonderful cards they have made and then make one of your own. You may be our next Chic of the Week.

Just Us Girls #495 - Word Week
Another month is upon us and another Word Week is ready for you at Just Us Girls. This week Angie has chosen:
I had a panel that I stamped at Michele's and decided to turn it into a card for this challenge.
The stamp is from Altenew and their inks were used to color it. I wanted a different look so the panel was cut with rectangle and arced dies from SSS to let the DSP show around the edges and in the corners. The sentiment is from another Altenew set.
There are a variety of cards inspired by this week's word made by the Design Team and our guest designer Emma DelFosse. We hope you'll make one too. If you are chosen Chic of the Week, you could be a future guest designer.

Just Us Girls #490 - Word Week
How much fun will this be? Sue has chosen 'Retro' as her Word Week challenge at Just Us Girls.
The last time I made a retro card I went mid-century modern. This time I went with the 60's.
I heat embossed the flowers from PTI onto some GinaK key lime cs, coloring in the centers with a yellow gel pen. In the photo they just look like a darker version of the card base. Using some MFT letter dies gifted to me by Michele, I cut the word 'groovy three times then added the heat embossed sub-text.
What era will Retro take you to? The Design Team and our guest designer Marlena have some interesting cards to inspire you. Make a card and you may be our Chic of the Week and eligible for a guest design spot.

Just Us Girls #486 - Word Week
This will be a fun one! Carol has chosen this as her word for Just Us Girls this week.
I used the Lawn Fawn color slider to make Christmas cards a couple of years ago and brought it out again for this challenge.
I was practicing with Gamsol on my PolyChromos using this cute image from GS and since it was laying on my desk I decided to turn it into this reveal card. The original directions have you stamping the image on the acetate too but I decided to just decorate the pull tab and put the sentiment there.
There are many ways you can choose to show movement on your card. It can be interactive like mine or with an action wobbler, but if you don't have anything like that you can using a stamp showing motion. Check out what the Design Team has made for inspiration. We also welcome Eva Dobilas as our guest designer this month.

Where's the movement you say? Take a look below.

Just Us Girls #482 - Word Week
I'm the host this week at Just Us Girls and it's Word Week. The word I chose is
Don't ask me why. I was just at a loss for a word that would encourage you to make a card. Everyone has at least one house stamp or die don't they? I haven't peeked to see what the Design Team has done but they never disappoint. Why don't you check them out for some inspiration. We have Christine Perez as our guest this month.
Here's my card.
The little houses and trees are from CP and are colored with Zigs. The set also includes the hill die. Usually I just leave the windows open but I fiddle diddled around and fit back in the die cut pieces. What was I thinking? I mean they are TINY! And now that I've said that, why didn't I do the doors?
I hope we will see your "house" card in our gallery this week. You could be our Chic of the Week with a chance to guest design.

Just Us Girls # 477 - Word Week
Vicki is our host this week at Just Us Girls and she has chosen a word that should fill our gallery.
I spent way more time on my card that I usually do but once I had the idea in my head I had to keep going. It's all part of using neglected stamps.
First I wanted to do a text background with the sentiments from the MFT Stay Tuned set. It takes a while and some practice to get those laid out correctly. For once it wasn't MISTI but my trusty old Fiskars press to the rescue. There was a mis-stamp near the top so I cut another piece of the Fog paper and stamped the sentiment in Red which I think worked out even better design-wise. I couldn't just pop the TV on so I cut 4 layers putting the sentiment on the bottom and then adding acetate between the middle two. It looks great IRL. This must be a rescue card because I knew I wanted the sentiment to say "It's Your Birthday". Typing it into Evernote brought up the perfect one by EBE.
Please check out the birthday cards the rest of the Design Team and our guest designer, Greta Hess, have made. We hope they inspire you to make a card for the challenge.

Just Us Girls #473 - Word Week
February is the month of love and that is what our hostess Ina has chosen for Word Week at Just Us Girls.
I was inspired by a card from Cornelia that you can see here.
I did the bokeh on pink paper with two different stencils and three different inks. The panel was cut with a die from Concord and 9th and stamped with a flourishy heart from Penny Black. The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted.
There are so many ways to interpret the word love on a card. What will you do? For inspiration, check out the Design Team and this month's guest, Lisa Elton. You may have a chance to be our next guest designer.

Just Us Girls #469 - Word Week
We're back!! Just Us Girls have a new challenge for you to begin the new year.
This will give you a chance to use some of those bits and pieces that are colored or cut but didn't make it onto a card. Or in my case a background that I never used.
I don't even remember exactly how it did it. I do know the Avery Elle trees were heat embossed and the sky is Distress Ink. I trimmed the panel down, put it on some Gina K Ivory cardstock and added the cardinals from SSS and a sentiment from PB.
We have two guest designers with us this month, Janet Ribet (Swanlady) and Cindy Major. You'll want to see their cards on the JUGS blog and then take a look at their personal blogs for even more inspiration.
We hope to see you in the gallery. You could have a chance at being a future guest designer.

Just Us Girls #465 - Word Week
Our hostess Sue has chosen music as the word of the week for Just Us Girls.
I don't have much in the way of music stamps or paper but I do have one that I designed my card around.
Using my MISTI I stamped the score from Catherine Pooler, moving it back and forth to vary the note placement. VersaDazzle showed up better than regular VersaMark and gave a little shimmer to an otherwise rather plain card. I cut the middle with the MFT Peekaboo die and stamped a sentiment from the same set in Distress Ink that matched.
I want to welcome out guest designer for this month - Claire from String Bows. She and the rest of the design team have some very musical cards for your inspiration. If you make a card and are chosen as Chic of the Week you could be a future designer.
Why not give it a try.

Just Us Girls #461 - Word Week
It's Word Week at Just Us Girls and the word Nancy has chosen is 'Sympathy'.
I was watching some video tutorials that were in my inbox when I got an idea for my card. By combining one from Therese Calvird and one from Carissa Wiley I made this.
The Penny Black image was stamped in Antique Linen Oxide on Gina K ivory paper. The die from Winnie and Walter was cut from some brown in my stash and gold foil applied to the bottom. Another brown piece was heat embossed with the sentiment from Papertrey Ink. Here's a close-up of the gold foil.

Just Us Girls #456 - Word Week
Ina has chosen 'celebrate' for Word Week at Just Us Girls. That leaves it wide open to interpretation and we hope you'll be inspired to make a card for this week's challenge.
I took advantage of the Concord and 9th birthday sale and ordered their Birthday Stacks stamps and dies. I couldn't wait to play with them once they arrived.
There is everything you need to make a keepsake card in the set and this is the first one I did. The candles are colored with Zigs and I backed the celebrate die with a black shadow so it would show up better. The nice thing about this is it folds down to fit in an A2 envelope.
All the measurements and instructions are on the C9 website. Once I knew what I was doing I had to make a second card for my great-granddaughter who will be three on the 15th.
I thought she'd like the pinks and purples with a little green and aqua added. I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment from Clearly Besotted on the back. Here's another look at how it folds.
Enough from me. Now it's time for you to see what the rest of Design Team and our guest designer Julie Beech have made and then make a card of your own for the challenge. If you are our Chic of the Week you may be our guest designer in November.
