Cardz 4 Guyz #376

I made this card for a Design Team challenge that was changed but it works great for the Summer Holiday challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz.

All the images and sentiments are from Ellen Hutson's Bear Ware.  The grill, basket and sun were colored with Altenew artist markers. The bear was cut from Kraft and his aviator glasses from holographic paper. The background was masked and colored with Distress Inks.

Freshly Made Sketches #686

I wasn't sure I was going to make a card for Freshly Made Sketches until an idea came to me in the middle of the night.

I had been looking through patterned paper for another challenge and saw this forest one from Honey Bee.  It makes a great background for Honey Bee's Heart Hugs bear.  The frame is actually really dark green and not black like it looks in the photo and is cut with HB's Deckle Edge and embossed with SSS Tall Pines.  Mr. Bear is sending greetings with a stamp from SSS.

Thanks for dropping by.

Just Us Girls #760 - CASE a Designer

When there are 5 Thursdays in the month, we at Just Us Girls have a "CASE the Designer" challenge.  This gives the design team a chance to make whatever they want, hoping to inspire you in some way to make a card.

I have to confess that this card was made for another challenge and I missed the deadline.  Not to let it go to waste and because I thought it was so cute I'm adding it here for you to see and be inspired by.  The bear is from Honey Bee's Heart Hugs which includes the heart, the embossing folder is Spellbinders and the die cut sentiment is SSS.

If this isn't your 'thing', the Design Team has a wide variety of cards that you may want to CASE.  I hope we see your card in the gallery.  Please let us know whose card inspired you.

AAA Birthday #53

I'm back home in my craft studio so I should be able to use more of my crafty stash but the card for AAA Birthday is one I made before I left.  I knew I wanted to play with my Heart Hugs animals from Honey Bee and this is what I did.

The bear was cut from kraft and colored with Distress Ink for shadows and dimension.  Both the balloon and the heart are from the set and were cut from red, with Glossy Accents on the balloon and black glaze pen on the nose and eyes. The sentiment is from Altenew.

I'm so glad you dropped by.  I love it when you do.

Time Out Challenge #247

There is a photo to inspire your cards at Time Out for this challenge.

Here is a larger version so you can see the detail.

Even with all the elements in the photo, I had a hard time figuring out what to do.  Then I recalled a card I made before and used it as inspiration.

I used my favorite EbyE bear and put him in a polaroid frame from PTI cut from Altenew's Spicy Yogurt paper.  The fish, rod and sentiment are all from Bear add-ons.   The perfect background paper is from an ancient pack.

Lawn Fawn is our sponsor with a $25 store credit for the challenge winner.

We'd love to see how you were inspired by this photo.  The Design Team has some wonderful cards for you to see.

Color Hues #61

I have what I think is a very cute card for Color Hues and their peach and kraft challenge.

I knew I wanted to use the darling bear from Penny Black so I stamped her on kraft with HA Soft Brown and added some PolyChromos pencil shading.  Her eyes and nose are colored with a black glaze pen.  Then it was a matter of how to add the peach.  I wanted her to sit on something and at first thought of a word die but didn't have one that worked well.  Then I remembered the ancient PTI happy dies.  There are four of them in different fonts. I cut it from peach paper three times and inlaid it into a piece that was embossed with Altenew's Angled Mosaic folder.

I'm so glad you dropped by and hope you are doing well.

52 Christmas Card Throwdown - 13.2023

It's sketch week at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.

I went back and forth on what I wanted to do and ended up using the HoneyBee bear that I used on another Christmas card.

He's cut from kraft and inked with DI for some dimension.  The DSP looked forest-y to me so I added strips of it along with the pines from The Greetery and pinecone from Gina Marie.  The Brushed Pines folder added dimension to the background and the bear is holding a sentiment from PTI.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope your weather isn't creating any difficulties for you.  There have been a lot of storms across the US and I pray for those who have been affected by them.

Peace on Earth Christmas #36

I hope you're not getting tired of seeing Christmas cards.  I don't want to get behind so I'm making them all year. Today's card is for the Peace on Earth Christmas challenge.

My friend Marcia used the fox from the Heart Hugs set from HoneyBee and it was so darling I had to have it.  It also comes with a hedgehog and this darling bear.  I cut him from Bristol and his eyes and nose from black before adding some color with Zigs.   There are slits for his hands to hold a heart but I made him a Christmas present instead, cutting a rectangle from some blue metallic paper and adding a white glitter bow cut from a WaffleFlower die. The same glitter cs was used for the top layer of the Merry die cut from PTI.  The DSP is from a paper pack in my stash.

I had no intention of making a Christmas card with the bear when I bought the set but just look at the cutie in the moodboard.

See any resemblance.? I've been trying not to be too literal with my cards but this time I couldn't help it.

Seize the Birthday #255

Seize the Birthday has an interesting parameter for their twist this time.

With the initials BH I could do just about anything as long as I added the Happy Birthday sentiment.  Too easy so I picked a few other things that begin with those letters.  Want to see how many?

First there's the BearWare bear from EbyE all ready for a party with his hat and present.  Then there's that pretty pink balloon he brought along.  They're on a white panel cut with MFT's wonky rectangle and then on some patterned paper I thought looked like large confetti.  For a sentiment I had to include the word hugs for the H and it comes from Altenew.

Thanks for dropping by.

52 Christmas Card Throwdown and Christmas Craft Creations - August 2022

I'm way behind in creating Christmas cards so went looking for some challenges to inspire me.  I had bookmarked them but hadn't checked in for quite a while.  Both 52 Christmas Card Throwdown and Christmas Craft Creations had similar themes so I quickly made this card.

The sledding bear and his penquin friend are from Penny Black, colored with Altenew artist markers.  To make the hill, I tore a piece of copy paper and inked above it with Stormy Sky Distress Ink.  The sentiment is from Concord and 9th.

Thanks for dropping by.   I love it when you do and even more when you leave a comment.

Just Us Girls #573 - Photo Week

It's Photo Week at Just Us Girls and Sue has chosen this beautiful picture to inspire your card.

I have made several cards with an aurora borealis but had difficulty with this one.  After three tries I finally had success.
I used Distress Inks on Bristol cardstock and then spritzed with Dazzling Diamonds. The bear is from MFT and when I looked in the envelope the little sentiment pole was in there (must have been a gift from someone) so I colored that and the bear with alcohol markers and put them on a piece of torn paper for the snow.  I added Snow Marker to the sign and black glaze to the bear's nose and eyes.

Now it's your turn.  What will you use to make an aurora borealis?  Check out what the design team has done.  I'm sure you will be inspired.

Twofer Card Challenge #33

This month at the Twofer Card Challenge they are allowing us to catch up with our holiday cards by making two Christmas cards instead of two cards for different occasions.  I took advantage of that and made these using the requisite stars.

I knew I wanted to use the EbyE Star Trail and played around with different images until I found something that pleased me.  Both of my images and sentiments are from MFT.
On black watercolor paper, I used Altenew metallic watercolors to make my aurora borealis.  The bear and iceberg were colored with Zigs and the stars were lined with glitter paper. It's difficult to see it and the sparkle of the heat embossed sentiment in the photo.

For the background on this card I used Distress Inks with a blending brush, then cut the panel with a N&T scalloped rectangle.  The angel was colored with Zigs and shimmer paper was added behind the stars.

It was so much fun to make these cards.  I hope your Christmas card stash is coming along.  The gals at Twofer can help you along with some wonderful inspiration if you check out the blog.

Twofer Card Challenge #26

I must say the Twofer Card Challenge really makes you put your creativity cap on and think outside the box.  Plus look through your stamps and see them in a new light.  This month the prompt is
I searched my Evernote and found the perfect umbrella to use for my two cards in the Bear Ware set from EbyE.
For the first card I stamped and masked three beach umbrellas, leaving off the handle so I could stick them in the sand.  Distress Ink made the background and Zigs painted the umbrellas.  The sentiment is from Warm Fuzzies, an addition to the Bear Ware and Inside Bear sets.
When I saw another sentiment from the Warm Fuzzies set I knew I needed to use it with the bear himself.  He's holding a rainbow umbrella under the stenciled raindrops.  I masked the word 'fun' from the sentiment and sprinkled it in the rain.
I added Distress Ink for the grass and shading with PolyChromos pencils.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope you'll check out the Twofer Challenge.

Happy Little Stampers Christmas - April

For April, the challenge at Happy Little Stampers Christmas is:
I don't often do scenes on my cards but I had to pull out my favorite Inside Bear from EbyE to make my card.
First I made a snowy day sky with MFT clouds and cut a slope from SSS.  Then I colored the Bear Ware bits and pieces with PolyChromos pencils and arranged them on the background.  I thought the sentiment from PB fit the Santa bear perfectly.

Festive animals are optional for your card.  Will you use one or do something else?  The Design Team can't wait to see your card in our gallery.

Tag You're It! #95

Kim is our host for this challenge at Tag You're It! This is her theme choice.
The only Barbecue stuff I have is from EBE Bearware but it worked great.
Distress Inks were used for the background and grill, which also has a coating of Glossy Accents. The sentiment and apron were borrowed from Michele's Bearware 4 set.
The Design Team would like to show you what they made to inspire you.  Check out the blog and then make a tag based on BBQ.  We'd love to see you in the gallery.
