Color Hues #103 and Inkspirational #334

Color Hues is collaborating with Inkspirational for a red and pink challenge. If you link up to one, be sure to also link to the other.

In the summer of 2017 a challenge called CAS Mix-Up was in full swing (unfortunately it closed) and their technique was to use tissue paper.  Here is a link to Loll's video.  I made a card for that challenge but had this background left over in my Bits Box. I trimmed it down and added to a Soft Stone card base.  The same color was used for the SSS die cut sentiment and part of one from MFT (hugs).  The Sketched Heart from SSS was cut from white foil from Concord and 9th.

Thanks for dropping by.  Have a great weekend.

Just Us Girls #760 - CASE a Designer

When there are 5 Thursdays in the month, we at Just Us Girls have a "CASE the Designer" challenge.  This gives the design team a chance to make whatever they want, hoping to inspire you in some way to make a card.

I have to confess that this card was made for another challenge and I missed the deadline.  Not to let it go to waste and because I thought it was so cute I'm adding it here for you to see and be inspired by.  The bear is from Honey Bee's Heart Hugs which includes the heart, the embossing folder is Spellbinders and the die cut sentiment is SSS.

If this isn't your 'thing', the Design Team has a wide variety of cards that you may want to CASE.  I hope we see your card in the gallery.  Please let us know whose card inspired you.

Freshly Made Sketches #669 and NBUS #70

I was trying to figure out what to do for Freshly Made Sketches when I spied a card I made earlier for one of my family valentines.  As I looked at it, I could see the sketch.  I hope the gals at FMS do too.

This is a new stamp from Penny Black called Stole my Heart. It's stamped on Bristol and colored with Zigs.  The sentiment is from SSS.  Since this is the first outing, I'm also sending my card to NBUS #70.

Thanks for dropping by.

ETA:  At Loll's suggestion, and because I was originally going to post this there, I'm sending my card to Penny Black Saturday Challenge

Inkspirational #332

When a challenge asks for a quilt you can be sure I'll be making a card for it.  I had several ideas but for Inkspirational I went with Grandmother's Flower Garden, or a semblance thereof.

Scraps of patterned papers fill the hexagons on the PTI coverplate, which has been applied to copy paper with double sided sticky sheet.  A little hugs die from SSS layered for dimension finishes it off.  When  you cut a coverplate and only use part of the image, it leaves you with plenty of leftovers.  And you know what leftovers mean.  A twofer.

The original cut of the coverplate slipped so I had to trim it down which gave me the chance to add a border.  This time I used the yellow print from the center of the first quilt for the outside and added a prayer die from SSS.

Julia from the Design Team mentioned posting a quilt that inspired our cards.  While I do have one, I'm showing the quilt I just made for my granddaughter who is expecting her first baby in March.

The striped fabric around the center is from her graduation quilt and the four plaid squares are leftovers from her baby quilt.  I gave it to her at a baby shower that was held on Saturday.  I'm just glad I found a long-arm quilter to get it done in time.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love sharing my cards with you.

Freshly Made Sketches #668

I was planning out my valentines and thought Freshly Made Sketches had a great design for one.

Paper is from an older pack by Stamps of Life except for the heart which is from another older pack that has lost its label since there are few pages left. The hugs die from SSS was cut from kraft.

Thanks for dropping by.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Color Throwdown #717

Just a quick post before I head off to celebrate my great grandson's first birthday.  This card is for Color Throwdown.

I found a sheet from a Honey Bee pack that had the challenge colors on it.  I added some vellum leaves from various companies and then used the leftover scrap for the die cut sentiment from Altenew.

Thanks for dropping by.  Have a great weekend.

The Flower Challenge #69

With all the conflict still going on in Ukraine, The Flower Challenge is paying homage to their brave citizens by choosing their flag colors for our challenge this month.

For my card I used an embossing folder from SSS called Floral Field.

I put Prize Ribbon Distress ink on the folder before running it through my Big Shot, then colored the centers with Mustard Seed.  The sentiment is from Honey Bee, layered up and placed on a vellum shadow.

I did this one first and it came out lighter.

To this one I added a die cut sentiment from EbyE, with a sub sentiment from SSS.

Nancy Penir is our guest designer and she and the rest of the team have some wonderful blue and yellow cards for your inspiration.  Just remember that flowers must be your focal point.

AAA Cards #199

One layer cards are not my favorite but I had the perfect image for the challenge at AAA Cards - No layers with the option of hugs.

The image is from Penny Black and originally had a stack of gifts where the SSS sentiment is.  I masked them off and then drew in some of the dock lines with a pen.  The coloring was done with Zigs.

I'm so glad you dropped by.

Inspired By #180

When you have limited stamps, inks and paper it forces you to get creative.  For me that's a good thing since I have a tendency to do everything very literal.  I had to think outside the photo to make a card for Inspired By.

Using CP inks and a SSS stencil I made the background.  Then I used the same ink to color the Altenew flowers and SSS hugs die. I cut the panel down, popped up the flowers and voila' a card based on this photo.

I'm glad you dropped by for a visit.  I'd love it if you'd leave a comment.

CAS Mix-Up May 2021

It's stencil time at CAS Mix-up.  Stencil and rainbow ink blending.  How fun is that?!

I used a stencil from STAMPlorations that was a gift from a friend.  Using finger daubers I colored the various flowers in the requisite colors.  I first did them in order across the card but didn't like it so I matched up the flowers with a color.  The sentiment is from The Ton.  I think this would make a nice set of notecards without the sentiment so I may do a few more just to have on hand.

Thanks for dropping by.  Sending big hugs to you all.

The Flower Challenge #53 - Reminder

There is still time to show us your newest stamps/dies at The Flower Challenge.

The Design Team have cards using their latest flower stamps and dies to inspire you.  I used another Altenew set that I've used before.
I stamped the flowers from Positive Vibes and placed them on a panel cut with Honey Bee deckled edge.  I inked the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink and placed on a panel of similar color.  The hugs die was cut and layered three times from a matching green.

Will we see your card in our gallery?

Color Hues #11

It's February.  Guess what the colors are for Color Hues?  You're right!

So that means valentines to me.  Fortunately I had one made before I came south that I can use for the challenge.

The background was made by running my brayer through Worn Lipstick Distress Ink, adding it to the hearts embossing folder and sending it through my Big Shot.  I cut the panel with a scalloped die and added the sentiment from Honey Bee cut in red with a white shadow.

Thanks for dropping by.  Please forgive me for not commenting.  My internet is spotty at best and I don't get much time on my computer.

CAS Mix-Up and CAS Stencil May 2020

Gesso resist?  Who would have thought?  I guess Linda did because that's what she chose for the challenge at CAS Mix-Up.  I had a big bottle so I gave it a try and I'm loving the results.
I painted the gesso over a plaid stencil from TCW and let it dry.  After cutting the panel in half I inked this one with Iced Spruce.  A watercolored die cut from MFT and a sentiment from CB was all I needed to finish it off.  So stamping, watercoloring, die cutting, stenciling and Distress inking along with the gesso is my mix.  And I have the other half of the panel to do something else with.  Hmmm.

I also did a second card for the CAS Stencil challenge.
I've had the alphabet stencil from TH for a long time and hoped I could do something with it.  I inked and clear heat embossed it, added the SSS grid stencil and inked again.  Then I had to think of a sentiment.  Always the worst part.  I placed the letter stencil back on and heat embossed the letter B in red to go with my computer generated sentiment.

Thanks for dropping by.  Sending hugs.

Addicted to CAS #184

I'm the host this week at Addicted to CAS and if you know me at all I bet you can guess my code word.
I only have a trillion flower stamps so I had to go with it.  I saw a wonderful card by Erum Tasneem here and wanted to make one similar.
After ink blending Abandoned Coral Distress Ink along the side, I gold embossed the Sweet Peas and colored them with Zigs.  Some black splatters and a embossed sentiment from SSS finish it off.

The rest of the Design Team will shower you with flowers over on the blog.  I hope they inspire you to enter a card in our challenge.

Inspired By #122

Any challenge that has a quilt in it inspires me and Inspired By has one, along with other bedding, this week.
They also have a sketch and I used that - sort of.
All the papers except for the PTI polka dot is from KaiserCraft.  I added an extra hexagon to place my sentiment on.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope your week is off to a great start.
